Xiao Ling froze in place to hear that he was immortal. It did explain how he survived such a gruesome massacre. But also left with the question how the others didn't have same story as him.
That was an unexpected turn for him, truly!

"Look at that filthy four-eyes," they sneered. "He deserves it."
There was a boy who was always looked down upon. He had long white hair and strange golden-yellow eyes, plus two extra eyes on his forehead. People thought he was cursed and shunned him. Even his own parents abandoned him, seeing him as worthless.
Because of this, no one wanted to be near him, and anything he touched was avoided. He felt completely isolated and rejected.
But they didn't know how powerful he really was.
At twelve, ghosts overran the realm, killing everyone and burning their remains. The boy watched the destruction with a sinister smile. He felt a dark satisfaction as he saw the ghosts' chaos.
The boy had been waiting for a chance to get back at those who had hurt him. When the moment came, he took his revenge. He betrayed his own people, making them suffer twice as much as he had. He seized control and became a powerful ruler. The spirits that once tormented him now begged for his forgiveness as he sat on his throne. They didn't realize that he was still the son of the royal family, abandoned but now incredibly powerful. He was both feared and revered, embodying a mix of angelic and demonic traits. His transformation from a despised outcast to a powerful ruler was complete.

"What are you do you want?" He Zhen asked coldly.
"I want to show the Lord that you can change," Xiao Ling replied earnestly. "I don't want you to be misunderstood just because you live in this so-called cursed realm."
"Cursed realm? If it's not cursed in your eyes, why don't you call it by its real name?" He Zhen scoffed. "Afraid you might be seen as a cursed mortal too?"
Xiao Ling fell silent.
"I'm nothing but trouble!" He Zhen continued, his voice rising. "Have you heard about the boy they called a jinx in Hong Long? The one with bad luck? He controlled luck itself and was the lord of the dragon's blessing! He was the next heir to the realm! And now, they're all here, begging for forgiveness, clinging to me like filthy animals!"
He Zhen kicked a spirit away from his leg in frustration. Despite his actions, Xiao Ling remained determined.
"Every heir is immortal until they pass their position to someone else," He Zhen said. "I bet their comfort while suffered was that I equally suffered."
"Don't say that!" Xiao Ling shouted, slapping He Zhen. "You're powerful, but you shouldn't talk like that."
He Zhen smirked as a red dragon flew around him.
"If you really want me to prove that I'm not as bad as you think," He Zhen said, "then challenge me to a duel and take my arm off me. If you win, consider the mission of yours complete."
