Chapter 20 - 20. Stairs

Mel's POV

I took his to the stairs leading up and made us seat down on the forth step. Hopefully we don't get caught.

"I'm not sure I'm supposed to be seeing you right now, it's not a visiting day and you're not even an immediate family. Its Saturday and I have cooking class by 12 so we gotta make this quick" I said turning to him to only realize he wasn't even listening. His grey eyes were busy trailing over me.

"Hey" I snapped my fingers in front of Gambi twice to get his attention.

"Uh?" He swallowed hard at nothing before snapping his eyes to me.

"Did you hear any of the things I said?" I asked.

"I'm not going to lie Mel. You uhm... You have nice looking skin."

My eyes trailed down to my legs as he said it. At my old school we didn't wear uniforms, so I took pride in baggy pants. Gambi has never seen me in a dress or a skirt.

"Thanks" I said, a blush rising up my cheeks.

Gambi ran his hand through his dark brown hair like he always did when he was troubled, nervous or thinking. His well defined muscular jaw prominent in the fair lightening, as he wet his bottom lips with his lips, his one sided dimple on the right side popped out. His grey eyes met mine again.

"You look so different now" he said.

I just nodded, checking my phone for the time, 11.00am. I'll soon have to get going for my baking class, "So, what made you come down here to Prime valley."

He ran his hands over his knee as he said, "It's you."

My silly heart felt a little tingle knowing he came all the way down just for me, "We broke up, didn't we?."

He threw me a sober look and seemed heartbroken, it made me a little heartbroken too but I didn't show my emotions. I had to be strong. HE KISSED IVY IN FRONT OF ME.

"No" he said in a whisper, "No we didn't. You never spoke to me after what happened at the party."

"I didn't think I needed to. I thought everything was clear already" I cleared my throat lowly.

"You concluded uh?. Again. All by yourself, I didn't have a say in it. We didn't agree to break up."

I stayed silent and waited for him to continue. I thought about what I wanted, Gambi or being single. I had promise myself to leave my old life behind along with everything but I really don't know if I want to let go of Gambi. I just can't get rid of my attachment to him, we've had so many great moments that keep replaying in my head everyday and making me want more.

Gambi was always there for me, my only friend and boyfriend. He didn't even ask for sex or that I do things I don't want to do.

Seeing him seating across beside me right now just tempts me to jump and cuddle myself in his arms and tell him how much I've missed him. I miss snuggling into his smell and shoulder.

"I still love you Mel."

Okay, that's it. I can't let him go, I'm such an idiot, I opened my mouth to give him a reply but I was cut short as a loud shriek called my name.

I snapped my head forward to find Naomi staring at us with a smile. As always she had on tight clothes, a tight crop top with matching skirt but this time an apron was hanging over her body. Please don't tell me her Saturday activity was also baking?, great.

I gasped softly, "Hey Naomi!. Are you taking baking classes too?" She nodded immediately.

"Who's that?" Gambi asked turning to me.

"I'm Naomi silly!. Aren't you from around here?" Naomi climbed up the stairs till she was in front of us.

"No, he's actually visiting for the day" I explained getting up.

"I'm Gambi. Mel's boyfriend" he got up too and let out a hand for Naomi to shake.

"Oh, hey. Italian catch uhn?" Naomi winked at me while a light chuckle left her lips.

I don't have to explain to Naomi that me and Gambi weren't actually together right?. It's not like we're good friends or something.

"Uhm Gambi, I uh have to go now. I got baking class like I said before, it was nice to see you again. Have a safe trip. Come on Naomi" I ushered Naomi down the stairs.

"Wait Mel" he grabbed my elbow, "I'm actually here for the weekend. Maybe we could meet again when you're done with classes or tomorrow?. Anytime is cool."

"We can't. Unless it's a visiting day or you're a student" I took my hand from his light grip and ushered Naomi down again.

"I'll text you then Mel" he called behind him. I turned to him to nod and give him a smile.

We had barely gone two steps when Gambi rushed over to pull me in a tight hug.

"Awwn!" Naomi cooed.

I gasped at the contact. I haven't as much as hold anyone's hand for a long time now, than going up to a hug. His smell invaded my nose and clouded my senses! I've missed him so much.

"You two are kinda adorable. Why don't you just transfer here Gambi?" Naomi asked.

Gambi tensed in the hug before saying, "That sounds like a wonderful idea. What do you think Mel?."

"I think it's half term and you can't transfer" I freed myself from the hug to give Naomi a glare that made her widen her eye and pretend to zip up her lips, "You can't transfer because of me. Your teammates need you over there. You got basketball and all. You got your sister too. You have to stay with them. You have a lot going on at Beverly hills."

"If you say so. But I could drive here every weekend to check on you, I swear" he said. Naomi said another 'Awwwn'.

"No you can't. But maybe on visiting days. We're running late for class, we have to go. Bye Gambi"

"Yeah. I'll just go back up to the staff quarters to meet my aunt, I used her as an excuse anyways."

I hurried Naomi away quickly.
