I've become accustomed to the call it my mate, I knew when she was calling for help and tonight was one of the 'when'. Her shrieking of fear vibrated inside my skull, alerting my mind. I needed to find her and save her. She's my mate, my responsibility.
I'm running through the forest of human land panting heavily, my wolf paws digging deeply through the wet dirt with every move, it had rained a while before.
"Mel" I whispered with my long tongue hanging out of my mouth with how exhausted I was. But she was still far away and I wasn't fast enough.
I strived to increase my pace, the bushes and lower branches happily tore through my fur while some broke after one strike from my paw.
I couldn't reach her.
