The sun casted down on the earth with its golden light revealing the gathered mourners, a wailing sound filled the place, reminder of the life that had been lost.
Emily and August were present putting on a black apparel, their sad eyes fixed upon the casket as it was gently lowered into the ground.
The funeral service had been a beautiful celebration of Juan's life, with friends and family from far and wide sharing stories and memories of her kindness, generosity, and hard work.
Now, after the eulogy was said, the atmosphere was somber and reflective. Then shortly the casket disappeared from view, following the loud cry of Juan's mom, who was so difficult to be consoled
Emily felt a lump form in her throat, realizing that Juan will never show up again because of some saboteur was too much to bear.
August, sensing the situation, wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. Trying so hard to hold himself.
Some minutes later, the priest arrived, his said a few words in the background as August's mind wandered back to the happy times he had shared with Juan.
He remembered her warm smile, her dedication to work, and her hard work.
She had been a constant source of support and guidance in the ranch. He leaned onto Emily his eyes closed, trying to endure all the heavy feelings of her death.
As the service drew to a close, the mourners began to disperse, people pausing to offer condolences to the family. Some showing up with gift while others have them cash.
The family of the deceased, kept sobbing giving a small smile to the visitors as they presented their gifts.
Finally, the crowd had dispersed, leaving only Emily, August, and family with the priest standing by the graveside.
The priest offered a final blessing, sprinkling holy water around the grave, before turning to her parents. His voice low and soothing.
"May Juan's soul rest in peace," he said, his eyes filled with compassion. "May her memory be a blessing to you both."
Her mom nodded, her eyes brimming with tears. Her husband squeezed her hand, his eyes mixed with sadness and unshed tears.
They stood there, frozen in grief, everywhere silent only the sniffing of Juan's mom was breaking the silence. It was as if the universe itself was paying tribute to Juan's passing, a final farewell to a life well-lived. And in that moment, August knew that Juan was gone, but her legacy would live on through her parents and him.
He would carry her memory in their hearts, and strive to get back at her killer.
Juan's mom was escorted back to the building by her husband accompanied by August and Emily.
August and Emily made their way to the family of the deceased.
August spoke words of consolation, his voice filled with empathy. "I'm so sorry for your loss," he said, his eyes locked on the mother's tear-stained faces.
"I must confess Juan was an incredible person, and her passing leaves a gaping hole in our lives. But I want you to know that her legacy will live on through us. We'll carry his memory in our hearts and strive to make her proud."
Emily slowly nodded in agreement, her own eyes brimming with tears. "We're here for you, always," she said, her voice filled with passion.
"If there's anything we can do to support you, please don't hesitate to reach out, once again we are deeply sorry."
Juan's dad nodded, his faces etched with grief.
"You are my daughter's bosses, and I appreciate you all for coming to share the grief with us."
August and Emily hugged them tightly, offering what little comfort they could. As they pulled back, August handed a heavy envelope to the father.
"We want you to have this," he said, stretching out his hands.
"It's a small token of our appreciation for Juan's contribution to the ranch,we hope it will help in some way."
The man took the envelope, their eyes widening in surprise.
"Thank you," the mother said, their voices barely above a whisper.
August and Emily nodded, their faces somber.
"We will be living now.". Emily said with a low voice.
"Are you the wife to Mr Flynn?". Juan's mom asked slowly.
"Uhmm.. actually..." Emily stammered..
"Is fine, Mr August is a very nice man,you should count yourself a lucky woman to have him. Please I pray the union last forever."
Juan's mom said, tears falling off her eyes.
Emily replied with a small smile tears streaming down her eyes as well.
"You have to be strong for the rest of Juan siblings, and we promise to be in touch with you often."
They turned and walked back to their car, the weight of the moment settling heavy on their shoulders.
As they drove out of the compound, Emily turned to August, her eyes searching.
"That was a beautiful thing you did back there," she said, her voice filled with emotion.
August nodded, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"She deserved it,we all did."
"I'm going to teach Rodriguez some tough lessons till he confesses who
the boss is," August said, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
"I think they might have a hand in Juan's death."
Emily nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I think that's a very nice idea, but please go easy this time."
August increased his speed...
"Uhmm, August, let's stop by the ranch. I need to get my slippers. These heels are hurting my toes."
August raised an eyebrow, taken aback by the sudden request. "Now? But we're almost close to the house."
Emily spoke up."I'm sorry, I can't endure it again, I can't focus on anything with these shoes killing me. It'll just take a minute."
August sighed, but turned the car towards the ranch. "Fine, but make it quick."
As they pulled up to the ranch, Emily hopped out of the car and ran inside.
August waited patiently, his eyes scanning the surroundings. After a few minutes,August suddenly heard Emily's voice.
"Hey, come and look at this!" she called out from inside the ranch house. her tone was urgent and mysterious.
August quickly rushed in, his heart racing with anticipation. He found Emily squatting on the floor a red envelope in her hand.
She looked up at him with a concerned expression.
"What is it?" August asked, taking the envelope from her hand.
Emily shook her head. "I don't know. I found it on the floor. It was addressed to us."
August's eyes narrowed as he opened the envelope and pulled out the letter inside. He scanned it quickly, his face growing wide.
The letter was typed on a plain white sheet of paper, but the words were anything but ordinary.
"Hey, it's very nice and thoughtful of you to take your cattle, materials, and equipment to your boyfriend's ranch," the letter read. "But it won't stop me from executing my plans. You think you can suck us dry or bewitch August? Your downfall has just begun."
August's eyes widened in horror as he read the next line. "And how was Juan's burial ceremony? Is it not yet over? More burials are on the way. Ha ha ha ha..."
The letter ended abruptly, leaving August feeling chilled to the bone. He looked up at Emily, his eyes curious of answers.
"Who do you think wrote this?" Emily asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I don't think I have any idea, but we need to find out. This is definitely not a prank. The person who wrote this is dangerous."
Emily nodded in agreement. "We should show it to the sheriff."
"Of which, the person was actually the one that killed Juan." August said nodding his head slightly. His mind already racing with possibilities.
"No, reporting to the high agency hasn't brought anything but trouble, let's just get out of here first"
August spoke signalling for Emily to leave...
Vincent pov
Vincent walked into the house, admiring his reflection in the mirror. His hair was styled perfectly, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.
Jephter followed him, collecting his coat and bowing slightly.
"Your food is in the dining room, sir," he said, his voice low and respectful.
Vincent nodded, his eyes still fixed on his reflection. He picked up his phone, which rang just as he was about to put it down.
"Yes, Blackie? You missed my call before," Vincent said, his voice firm but controlled.
"Yes, sir. I'm sorry, sir. I was very busy with some tasks" Blackie replied, his voice apologetic.
"That aside, I hope the task was successful."
Vincent asked his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Yes, sir. I kept the letter where they are to see it," Blackie replied.
Vincent nodded. "Any success from finding a specialized hacker?"
"No, sir. I have been in touch with some agencies, but they haven't given me any feedback," Blackie said.
Vincent's expression turned cold.
"Okay, then we make plans to travel to Switzerland. I got notified by my P.A that there are lots of experts over there. We are going to be leaving by weekend."
Blackie's expression was stunned, his voice laced with concern. "Sire, Switzerland? That's too far and serious, just to get a hacker. I think with time we will see one of the best hackers."
Vincent's face twisted in anger, his voice rising. "Asshole! Get your things ready by this weekend. You know how much I hate uncommitted workers and the price they pay for violating."
"Yes.. yes..sire". He stammered
With that the call went dead, and Vincent's eyes burned with malice. He turned to leave, but a sound of message notification halted him.
He picked up the phone and saw a message.
"Hey Emily, you haven't been picking your calls for over a month. I hope all is well, and I hope this message finds you well. Your uncle Hank is very sick. And he needs to see you. I think he has very vital information concerning the ranch. Please take a quick action and return. Thank you. From P.A"
Vincent dropped the phone gently on the table,a small smile playing on his lips.
"It's time to put my plans into action." He muttered.
Emily's pov
It was a cold evening, Emily strolled to Samantha's workplace, her hands tucked into her pockets for warmth. On her head also was a head-warmer to keep her head warm.
As she approached the store, she noticed that it was already closed.
"Hey Emily!" Samantha exclaimed with surprise, coming from behind the building.
"You're closed already? And I was coming to eat something from your today's tip."
"Ah, silly girl!" Samantha replied with a chuckle. "Let's go to my house; we're done for today. You can eat there, okay?"
Emily pouted...
"Nooo, no! I wanted something milky and yummy!" Emily said, putting on a baby attitude.
"What's this one doing, Samantha teased..
"Then that's your business. I can let you sleep in the store if you want; I'm going already."
Samantha spoke and walked out from the scene.
"Samantha! Wait up!! Are you trying to leave me here?" Emily screamed running after Samantha who kept her steps and gazed forward..
Emily caught up with her and the two friends walked out together, strolling down the road and chatting and laughing.
As they talked swinging their hands,Emily had a cold feeling and turned to look back.
"Hey Emily, what's it?" Samantha asked, noticing Emily sudden unease.
"I think someone is stalking us," Emily replied, her voice low and serious.
Samantha turned to look around but saw only a small puppy that ran across the road.
"I think you must be hallucinating."
Samantha said with a laugh, dragging Emily along.
"No, no! Someone is spying on us,we're being trailed!"
Samantha tried to reassure her,
"It's okay, Emily. I understand that you have enemies at the ranch, and your mind is always disturbed, it's just the feeling, that's all. Stop it and let's go; I don't want to get scared."
But Emily remained adamant.
"Please, Samantha, let's take this other pathway; at least it's very busy. I don't think we're safe."
Samantha relented, laughing.
"Fine, let's go, Mrs. Wonder!"
As they diverted to the next route. A man in a black cap emerged from his hiding spot, looking intensely in their direction for a while before disappearing from the scene.
August pov
"August, August, August!" Jake shouted, his anger unbearable. Badging into the lounge.
"What's the problem, Jake?" August replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm, his eyes fixed on his laptop screen.
"The water isn't running again! Why didn't you recharge the generator?" Jake demanded, his frustration growing.
August remained silent, his fingers flying across the keyboard....
"My phone, my laptop - everything is dead!" Jake exclaimed, his voice rising. "And yet, your laptop is fully charged! How is that even possible?"
August continued to ignore him, his expression unreadable....
"Are you trying to get back at me?" Jake accused, his eyes burning with fury.
"First, you withhold my monthly allowance, and now you're sabotaging the utilities! My phone is dead, my teeth are filthy - I haven't even been able to brush them or take a shower. You're really something else!"
August remained silent, his keyboard was the only noise heard in the lounge.
"Fine!" Jake spat, his face red with anger.
"You think this will break me? I'm not some naive kid who'll beg you for scraps. I have my way, and you'll soon find out!"
With that, Jake stormed out of the lounge, leaving August to exhale a sigh of relief.
"Foolish boy," August muttered to himself. "You have no idea what's coming next. The beverages will be the next to go."
August spoke let out an audible laughter.....
Samantha's pov
Samantha settled in on the floor, holding two plates of noodles. She handed one to Emily, who dug in immediately.
"Hey, you didn't add veggies to yours?" Emily asked, her mouth full.
"No, I'm really allergic to vegetables," Samantha replied.
"Uhmm I forgot about that,so gist me!" Emily said."We rarely talk lately, so what's been going on?"
Samantha hesitated before speaking.
"Well, I met a guy a few days ago."
Emily couldn't let Samantha finish her words before she interrupted..
"Wow!" Emily exclaimed, her eyes wide.
"And you kept this from me? Are you guys dating already?"
Samantha playfully pushed Emily's shoulder.
"Hey, stop it! We just exchanged numbers. But he hasn't called me today."
Emily teased, "Somebody's in love!" She shifted closer and touched Samantha's jaw.
Samantha blushed and pushed Emily's hand away. "Stop it, you're making me blush!"
Just then, Emily's phone beeped. She pulled it out of her jacket and answered, still eating her noodles.
"Hey Emily, you better tell August, my brother, to turn on the light and put back the runny water, or I'll do something you'll all regret,"
A harsh voice spoke on the other end. Emily's expression changed, and she pulled the phone away from her ear, placing it on the table.
Samantha noticed the sudden mood and asked, "What's wrong?"
The voice on the phone continued.
"You useless girl, you think you can turn August into your errand boy and make
him hate his own family? But instead, I'll make your life a living hell. Remember, we have affluence."
Samantha's face twisted in anger....
"To hell with you! Who do you think you are, talking to my baby like that? You old, ugly-looking monster. You must be stupid. If you were a man, you'd face whoever offended you, not come and threaten Emily. Go and face your frustration. Screw you!"
The voice on the phone retaliated,in shock.
"Oh, so Emily you're gay, right? You take everything my brother gives you and hand over to your partner. I wonder how clueless he must have been not to notice, that's interesting. You're with my brother for the benefits, but you're unlucky. Today is your judgement day. He will hear this."
Samantha defended her friend..
"Fuck you and your brother!" With that she ended the call.
"Samantha, you went too harsh on him. And did you have to tell August to fuck off as well?"
Emily asked, concern etched on her face.
Samantha's expression softened.
"Oh, sorry. I was just so angry. I didn't know it was August's brother. That boy must be irritating; I wonder who would have possibly dated him."
Emily sighed."You made things worse for me. Our families have a big grudge, and I'm trying to fit in because I love August. Now it'll be harder."
Emily placed her hand on Samantha's chest.
"Ahaa! Without seeing him, you hate him already. Please let me fight my love story alone. Please, ease up on him."
Samantha laughed.
"Want more noodles?"Samantha asked.
"Yeah, bring the pot." Emily teased.
"Foodie! You so much love food." Samantha got up exiting to the kitchen.
Emily thought to herself.
"What would have caused August to behave like this?August really got to Jake. I won't doubt that." She laughed mockingly..
August's pov
August's door swung open, and Jake's face still reeling with anger.
"Dad said you should turn on the light. His phone is off, so he needs to charge."
August smirked, pointing to the socket where his phone was already charging.
Jake's fingers ran through his hair, knowing August had caught his lies.
"Uhmm... he hasn't taken his bath, so you should turn on the water for him."
August stood up, signaling for Jake to leave.
"You know I told Dad earlier that you're trying to punish him. And you're not qualified for ranch management, but Dad won't listen." He said going towards the door.
August followed Jake outside, padlocking the door behind him, and walked towards his dad's room.
"Yep! Yep! I always have my ways to get things without removing my pride." Jake reacted, then ran quickly towards his room to get a bucket and fetch water from his dad's room.
"After all your big boy carriage, you're running like a lion just because of water? Where are your big boy etiquette?" August mocked.
Jake hissed with annoyance. "Who are you?!"
August smirked. "Little brother, to remind you. The water and light scarcity will last for two weeks."
Jake screamed from the balcony, "You're a bastard, August!"
August smiled and walked away, leaving Jake alone to fight with his thoughts.
Emily's pov
The ranch was engulfed in flames, the sound of crackling wood and roaring fire filling the air.
Emily was already there, desperately trying to stop the fire from spreading. She was wearing a mask and gloves, her hair tied back in a ponytail, as she battled the fire with a hose.
August's car screeched to a halt as he gazed out at the conflagration engulfing the ranch.
As he looked out he saw Emily there, her figure silhouetted against the flames as she battled the blaze with a hose.
Without hesitation, August leapt out and sprinted towards her, his heart concerned for her safety.
"Emily!" he yelled above the roar of the fire, taking the hose from her..
"Please, you have to put out the fire!" she begged, her eyes streaming with tears. She forced her knees on the grassy floor.
"Remember this is my ranch, my everything!"
August gaze still focused on quenching the fire.
"I'll do everything within my power, Emily!" he yelled His hands tight on the hose, battling the blaze, but the flames were too intense.
Emily's cries grew more desperate as she watched her ranch being consumed.
"Call the fire service Emily, this is too much to handle."August screamed..
August's face was engulfed with flames, the smoke spreading through the atmosphere.
Just as he was starting to lose hope, the fire truck arrived immediately, sirens blaring. There were too many firefighters, they leapt out and joined August in battling the blaze.
Slowly but surely, they began to gain control. Just as they were gaining control of the fire, a massive explosion rocked the ground beneath their feet, causing chaos everywhere, some section of the ranch's roof collapsed, sending sparks flying everywhere.
"Emily, get back!"
August yelled, as he grabbed her arm and pulled her to his bosom. As they stumbled back, coughing their body covered in soot.
Emily's eyes locked onto August.
August gazed down at Emily.
"Are you okay?" he spoke.
Emily nodded, her eyes reddish.
"We have to get out of here!" He shouted, sweeping her into his arms, and they stumbled away from the burning furnace.
As the fire was finally extinguished, Emily collapsed to the ground, her body wracked with sobs.
August dropped to his knees beside her, pulling her into his arms.
"I'm so sorry, Emily," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "We'll rebuild, I promise."
Emily raised up her head looking up at him, her face streaked with tears.
"I don't know if I can do it again," she whispered.
August held her tighter, his heart heavy with grief.
"You should not give up,we'll do it together," he said. "We'll rebuild and make it even better than before."
August followed Emily's gaze, she was looking out at the charred remains of her ranch, and the extra large hole the explosion gave at the center of the ranch.
August was distracted as his phone rang. He hesitated for a moment before answering.
"August, what's going on? I just heard on the news that there is a fire outbreak within the ranch!" his father exclaimed, his voice laced with shock and fear.
August took a deep breath before responding calmly. "Dad, it's okay. It's not our ranch that's burning. It's Emily's ranch."
There was silence on the other end of the line before James voice came up again.
"Ah, that's perfect. Her evil deeds are finally coming back to haunt her."his tone dripping with malice
"Dad, that's not the right thing to say now. We should put ourselves in her shoes, not gloating."
"Why should we care about her? She's been nothing but trouble for our family. Besides, I'm more concerned about our own business. Have you gotten another contract?" His tone nonchalant.
August hesitated before responding.
"Actually, yes. A man came to start his own ranch business and bought cattle and cows, and equipment worth $750."
James tone changed instantly, excitement and greed.
"That's great news, son! I knew you could do it. We'll be back on top in no time."
"Dad, you should learn to forgive and throw away grudges."
But James dismissed his concerns.
"No, son. We have our own business to worry about. Let her deal with her own problems."
"Dad I will hang up now. Take care".
After that the line went dead.
Jake pov
Jake dialed Samantha's number, he felt anxiety all over him,it's been more than three years since he had done something like this.
She picked up the call...
"Hey, Samantha, I'm so glad I could reach you."
Jake said, trying to sound casual as he settled into his couch his phone clutched in his ear.
Samantha's voice sounded jovial...
"Hey, Jake! Yeah, I'm just taking a quick break at work. How's your day going?"
"It's going well, thanks. Just busy with some stuff. But I was thinking, since we had a good time at the coffee shop the other day, maybe we could grab dinner sometime this week?"
Samantha contemplated for a moment before responding.
"I'd like that. But can we make it next week? I'm pretty swamped this week with deadlines and orders."
"Next week sounds great. I'll call you then to set up a time. Maybe we can try out that new Italian place downtown?" He responded..
Samantha's voice lit up..
"That sounds amazing! I've been wanting to try it out."
They kept chatting, Jake found himself feeling more and more comfortable around Samantha. He loved her easy laugh and her being lively.
"So, what do you like to do in your free time?"
Jake asked, curious to learn more about her.
"I love hiking and trying out new restaurants. How about you?"
Jake blushed...
"I'm a big fan of live music and playing guitar. Maybe I can play for you sometimes?"
His voice turned coquettish.
"I'd like that.Well, I should let you get back to work. But I'm really looking forward to next week, Samantha."
"Me too, Jake. Thanks for calling. Have a great day!"
"You too, Samantha. Bye for now." Jake smiled, feeling a sense of excitement as the call went dead.
He had only met Samantha twice, but he already felt a connection with her.
"I can't wait for the dinner date next week and the chance to get to know her better."
Jake thought giggling...
Samantha, returned to work with a smile on her face. She couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to Jake.
"I'm looking forward to next week's dinner date." She muttered, the thoughts made her blush, wondering what other surprises Jake had in store for her.
Emily's pov
Emily trudged through the front door, her feet heavy with grief. She kicked off her shoes and made her way to the bed, collapsing onto the mattress like a corpse. She buried her face in the pillow, replaying the events of the day in her mind.
The image of her ranch, engulfed in flames, played again. It was more than just a ranch - it was The Wilson's home.
Tears streamed down her face, soaking the pillow. She couldn't bear the thought of losing what was handed over to her,so coldly to the en
emy made her stomach grumble.
Just then, her phone rang, disrupting the silence. The caller ID flashed "August" on the screen, but Emily ignored it. She couldn't face talking to anyone right now, not even August. She let the phone ring, her body shaking with sobs. She felt like her world was crashing down around her.
As the phone finally fell silent, Emily's tears poured out like rainfall..
August pov
August sat on his chair, staring at his phone with worry etched on his face. He had been trying to reach Emily, but she wasn't picking up.
A soft knock at the door broke the silence, but August didn't respond. The person knocked again, and August still didn't move. Finally, the door creaked open, and Jake entered, surprised to see August's worried face.
"Hey bro, what's up?" Jake asked, but August gave no response.
Jake sat down on the bed, noticing August's distress. "Why are you looking like someone who took money from the ranch savings? Or did you?" he asked, looking directly at August.
"Jake, please leave. I'm honestly not in the mood for all of this." August spoke his voice very calm.
Jake apologized, "Ok, ok, sorry. What's the problem?"
"Uhmm, is Emily... she..."
Jake interrupted...
"Haaa, I said it, I knew it. Is no other person than the Joy killer. Ok, sorry, you can continue the gist."
Jake said, noticing his brother's mood.
August shook his head, "Just leave, please. I'm not in the mood."
Jake reluctantly stood up.
"Sorry, I thought I apologized already."
August sighed, "Emily's ranch got burnt. Someone is trying to destroy Emily."
Jake shrugged nonchalantly, "So why are you really bothered? Thank God it didn't get to ours."
August's frustration grew.
"She's not picking up her call, she left the ranch so early and never told me she was leaving. Now she's ignoring my calls." His voice pleading..
Jake suggested...
"Then leave her, that's very simple. She needs a breakup, that's why?"
"Jake, just get out!! Of my room now."
But Jake persisted, "Hey, hey, August, you won't do that. I need money for something very important. That is why I came here,we own a family ranch, yet you keep behaving like you built it yourself."
August's words stood firm..
"I won't give you any money till you give me vital information of what you want to do with the money, and mind you, the money will be sent directly to the account of the person, not yours."
Jake's face twisted in annoyance, "Stop barking, I will leave, but I must take that money. You are depriving me of dad's wealth, it won't work.Send me the money if you're confident you're meeting Dad's expectations for the ranch. Stop stalling!"
He spoke and stormed out hitting the door hard..
Vincent pov
Vincent's face formed to a mixture of shock and happiness as he gazed at Emily's phone, his eyes wide with astonishment.
Nathan his P.A, noticed his boss's unusual expression,he summoned courage and approached him cautiously.
"Sir, what's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost, yet you're beaming with joy. Is it because of the fire at Emily's ranch?" He asked.
Without warning, Vincent sprang up from his seat and enveloped his P.A in a tight bear hug.
Nathan stood frozen, unsure how to react to this sudden display of affection. Shortly,Vincent released him, Nathan asked again,
"Sir, if I may ask, what's behind this sudden outburst?"
Vincent's face split into a wicked grin.
"We've finally gotten the upper hand, thanks to Switzerland. I managed to hack into Emily's iCloud and uncovered some valuable information about the ranch. We're one step closer to taking her down and claiming the ranch for ourselves!"
Nathan's face lit up with understanding and admiration.
"Congratulations, sir! This is a major breakthrough."
Vincent's smile grew even wider. "Summon the crew for a meeting. We're going to celebrate our first victory in style!".
But Vincent noticed the sudden change of expression in Nathan face...
"What is the problem? Why putting up the uncomfortable face suddenly.."
" Sire,I know we are fighting to make the Whispering Creek ranch yours, but why did you have to set the ranch on fire, knowing it will be no use to all of us".
Nathan said, calming his voice..
Vincent gave a malicious stare. "The ranch is so old and useless, how do you think I can settle for such. And besides all of the Whispering equipment and cattle were not in the flames. I will rebuild the ranch myself."
"I..will take my leave now".
The P.A bowed and quickly exited the room to arrange the meeting.
Vincent's grin lingered as he watched his P.A leave the room.
"Finally, after all these months of planning, I had the upper hand"
Vincent thought, walking over to the window, gazing out at the sprawling landscape map pasted on his window.
"This was just the beginning." He whispered.
Vincent strode over to his desk, his fingers flew across the keyboard as he typed out a message on Emily's phone. He was presuming to be Emily after going through her contacts. He was sending a text to her business partner, pretending to be her. A sly smile spread across his face as he crafted the words.
"Meet me at the old oak tree on the ranch at midnight,I have a proposal that could change everything. Remember, I have lots of enemies and coming at midnight will reduce the risk of the saboteurs tracking you and also they will never find out you are working with me. So let's keep it at midnight._ . He hit the send button
Vincent chuckled to himself, imagining the confusion and suspicion that would arise from this message.
He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together in satisfaction. With a contented sigh. He whispered intensely.
"Soon, it will be all mine..."
