Chapter 27 - Chapter 26: The Ent's Sacrifice Part 5

Lumina's Dome, Kingdom of Castile

"There is something bothering me first sister. What is the purpose of the Ent's Core in avoiding the disaster brought upon by the interloper?" asked Lumina.

"Did you know that Ents are one of the original inhabitants of Eden? These soul trees are just trees at birth until a wandering soul or those who have lived their lives without sin get reincarnated in the body of an Ent. In the olden days, the Heavens were the ones assigning the soul to the Ents, but since Eden fell, some Divinos and Nephilims found a way to preserve their divinity by transferring their souls to the budding Ent tree. The premise is that you need to nurture it, and live without sin." Relayed their first sister.

"Tomas, that young man has a greater purpose in the Book of Life. His life will be a battle, a battle between his corruptible body, and incorruptible soul. This Ent's core can be nurtured into a seed which will then become the vessel of Tomas' soul." she added.

"So that young man Tomas needs to die in the future?" asked their ever-impulsive second sister.

"I cannot reveal more sisters, but one thing is sure- we will all bear witness to it in the future." their first sister replied.

"Now, the next area of concern is how to transfer Lumina's Dome to the Cathedral of San Martin. We need to send for one more Divino or Elementals to replace her." Their sixth sister piped up.

"No need sixth sister, the Crann Bethadh is nearing its end. Originally, he planned to take care of the Interloper, sacrificing his rebirth for the chance to seal him. I think putting him to rest together with the Core of the Ent will comfort him and give him company for his growth." Lumina told them.

"Is he sure about this Lumina?" Their first sister asked her.

"Haven't you heard his hymn sister? He longs to rest and the Ents and Crann Bethadh can be considered companion trees. Crann Bethadh is where the Ents originated in the first place." Lumina told them.

"I forgot about this. It has been several thousand years already, and the cycle is just right. The Crann Bethadh haven't slept for 10000 years. It's time for it to rest." their first sister said.

"When are we going to transfer your Dome Lumina?" she asked.

"I think we have delayed for too long, It's been almost three hours since the young lad left the human realm," Lumina answered.

San Martin Cathedral, Human Realm, Kingdom of Castile

"What will happen to wife Rodrigo? I don't think I can bear to lose another wife!" The Cardinal's friend, the King asked him in a tearful tone.

This was after another episode where the Queen levitated on the bed. Although the Cardinal already placed Runes of protection in Tomas' old bedroom, the sinister force still infiltrated the Priest's residence.

The Queen was fortunate because the Cardinal had some knowledge of the Holy Arts, and he was able to preserve the body of the Queen. The babe was still unharmed for now but he didn't know how long can he sustain defending their residence. He could only hope that Lumina and her sisters would find a way to protect the queen and the babe.

His remaining Manna is only enough to last them a day, so he prayed for divine assistance. As he was praying, he heard a voice inside his head saying "Pray, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray… All you do is pray you useless human! This land is mine! What? Are you shocked, or afraid? You thought you and that old crone had defeated my seed? Hahahaha….. We are as old as time itself, we existed before you, but look at us now? We have been forgotten, our names erased from the Book of Life. Do you think he can hear you? He has never heard you nor ever heard our pleas. Stay confident in your prayers human, or else, if you falter, maybe you'll be in the same place as that queen!"

The Cardinal was shocked, his heart pumped rapidly. He was complacent as he thought that the wound healed was a wound forgotten. Nevertheless, he still prayed, he didn't let the words of the interloper faze him. But unbeknownst to him, his momentary lapse, his stumble, his stopping in prayer already achieved the aim of the interloper.

Outside the Priest's residence, Damian smirked. Ah, this Cardinal is cute. He jumps like a startled rabbit with little provocation. "It was fun messing with him," the creature inside Damian said. "It'll be more fun messing with everyone once I get hold of his body."

Feeling elated, he whistled a lively tune as he paced into the courtyard. Damian is looking for another body to take over, the more powerful the better. He disliked the King as the old man was already on his deathbed, besides, there were many targets on his back. What he needed was to poison the institution from the inside.

His Master will be happy if they can take over the church intended for the praise of the one who disowned him. "Ah, happy thoughts, happy thoughts, happy thoughts."

The creature's happy thoughts were interrupted when he felt a searing heat, tearing him away from Damian's decaying body. With a loud wail, his smoke form was forcibly yanked and the sunlight burned him.

He immediately flees and seeks the shadows of the nearby building and trees. The interloper's aim was for the castle of Castile. He spied a pig from the royal farm and didn't hesitate to enter the animal's body.

The animal then scurried to find shade and closed his eyes. "The damned lightworkers. What have they done! They ruined his plan. It seems like he needs to take over the Cardinal soon. Just wait. He will make sure that they will regret everything. For now, he will rest and gather his power again, in the body of this infernal animal."
