Chapter 11 - 11:DINNER WITH NANA

Amy stepped into the house, the familiar warmth and scent of home wrapping around her like a comforting blanket. "Nana, I'm home!" she called out, closing the door behind her.

Her grandmother, Evelyn, appeared from the kitchen, a smile lighting up her face. "Welcome home, sweetheart. How was your shift?"

Amy hugged her Nana tightly. "It was good, Nana. And thank you for the cupcakes earlier. Jenna loved them. Your baking is the best."

Evelyn's eyes twinkled with pride. "I'm glad to hear that, dear. Now, how about some dinner? I made chicken Alfredo."

Amy's stomach growled in response, and she grinned. "That sounds perfect. Let me wash up, and I'll be right there."

After a quick wash, Amy joined her grandmother at the dining table. The aroma of creamy Alfredo sauce and freshly cooked pasta filled the air, making her mouth water. They sat down together, and Amy took her first bite, savoring the rich, comforting flavors.

"This is amazing, Nana," Amy said between bites. "You always know how to make everything taste so good."

Evelyn chuckled softly. "It's all about cooking with love, Amy. I'm just happy to have you home and enjoying a meal together."

They chatted about Amy's day at school and her shift at the café, sharing stories and laughter. The comforting routine of dinner with her grandmother was a cherished part of Amy's life, grounding her amidst the changes and new experiences.

As they finished their meal, Amy felt a deep sense of gratitude for her Nana's unwavering support and love. She helped clear the table and wash the dishes, enjoying the simple, shared tasks that brought them closer.

"Goodnight, Nana," Amy said, giving her grandmother one last hug before heading to her room. "Thanks for everything."

"Goodnight, sweetheart. Sleep well," Evelyn replied, her voice filled with warmth.

Amy climbed into bed, feeling content and at peace. The day's events played through her mind, and she couldn't help but think about the mysterious Ryan. But for now, she was home, safe and loved, and that was all that mattered.
