The woman was in her late twenties or early thirties. She sat down next to Veronica and introduced herself with a bright smile.
"Hi, I'm Marie Whitaker and this is my husband, Herman! Do you mind if we join you for lunch?"
The question surprised both Veronica and Michael, but neither showcased any emotions.
They just looked at each other, and a whole silent conversation went down between them in a few seconds. Afterward, Veronica turned towards Marie, reciprocating the smile and attitude.
"We would love to, but I think we should change seats, so you can sit with your husband!" said Veronica, and tried to stand, but the woman interrupted, "Oh, no need. My Herman can spend a few hours not being at my side!"
Veronica looked between the woman and her husband a few times, then just shrugged and sat back down.
When all four of them were seated, she spent a few seconds looking at each more thoroughly.
