Chapter 1 - Nice Guy Life's

"Our relationship is over!" A voice note sounded from David's phone.

"Huh!?" David gasped, after everything he did for his girlfriend, to maintain their relationship, he was discarded like a useless piece of trash.

David pleaded with his girlfriend to maintain their relationship, but no matter how much he begged, there was no mercy; David was no longer valuable to her.

The result of David's effort is mockery; his girlfriend, Livy, took screenshots of all of David's messages that showing David's beg and turned them into content on a platform that features short videos.

David's self-esteem was shattered, the shame that arose gnawed at his mind. David feels like he is the subject of ridicule in front of many people, all his privacy laid bare and exposed mercilessly.

The next day, he returned to work at a restaurant as a waiter. Because of Livy's actions, his colleagues at work looked at David like a disgusting animal.

""Poor boy!"

"Simp!"

"Lack self-respect!"

David was belittled and looked down upon, but as usual, David, the good-hearted man, smiled, masking his anger with a faint smile.

David always smiles, forgives, and never defends himself. David thinks that what they are saying is just a joke, and they are not serious about it. David still considers them good people.

Everyone who knows David laughs at him and keeps their distance. David looks disgusting; he appears to be a person desperate for affection because of the entire content of his plea.

In the messages sent by David to Livy, David confessed that he cannot live without Livy, that she is the best woman. David said he would be anything for Livy, and he cried in the voice note he sent to her. That voice note was also shared by Livy in a short video content on her social media account.

Looks disgusting? Of course. An adult man cries because of love, like a little child mourning his ice cream that has fallen to the ground.

Livy did not show any pity for. Even though Livy was the one who initiated their relationship.

David easily gives up, is not interested in competing, and seems to lack ambition. Perhaps it's because David is more preoccupied with the lives of his two younger sisters that he forgets to think about his own future.

David has been an orphan since graduating from high school; both of his parents were in a car accident. David arrogantly made the decision to take care of his two younger sisters.

It's a pity that his idealism as an older brother ends up tormenting his two younger sisters. They lived in poverty; initially, they would be taken care of by their relatives. However, David prevented that. David acted like a mature man, confidently believing he could take care of his two younger siblings.

David's rejection slightly hurt the relatives who tried to take care of them, leading to their abandonment.

Their cost of living is lacking; they eat whatever they can every day, and their most luxurious meal is just leftover food from the restaurant where David works.

Online loan debt is suffocating David. David has no assets at all. Livy, who was David's escape during stressful times, has disappeared and left David's life.

"You're such an idiot!"

"How embarrassing!"

"My classmates know everything!"

"It's all because of you!"

Clara, David's oldest sister, scolded David for the embarrassing thing he did. Moreover, Clara could no longer stand living in poverty. David, who had just returned from work, was met with Clara's anger.

The angrier Clara got, the more she insulted David, even bringing up their economic situation.

"How long are we going to live in poverty!?" "This is your fault!" Clara shouted while clenching her fist.

"Forgive me, Clara, I promise to work harder from now on!" David implored as usual.

"Stop being a perpetual loser like that, it's repulsive! You know? I'm so envious of my friends who can have fun, dining at cafes, taking vacations at the beach, and wearing nice clothes," Clara glared at David with a ferocious gaze.

"Stop, Clara! Please don't mad at David," David's younger sister Layla tried to calm her down.

"That's enough, Layla, you know how we've suffered because of that fool!" Clara pointed to David's face.

David took a deep breath, "Clara, I promise, one day we'll live comfortably!"

"One day?! One day?! When did you start talking like that?! You know how I've suffered?! If only you hadn't rejected aunt's offer to take care of our lives, we wouldn't be suffering like this!" Clara exclaimed with anger.

"Do I have to sell my body? Huh? Just to live peacefully and have plenty of money? You want me to sell sexy photos on social media?" Clara jeered.

"ENOUGH!!!" David shouted loudly, soon realizing his own foolishness. "Forgive me, Clara!"

The beautiful teenage girl Clara's piercing gaze still bore into David as she swept away tears. Clara ran off to her room.

At home without parents, the sibling quarrel ended with an eerie silence.

**Midnight**

Rrrt... Rrrt...

David's phone rang,

"Hallo?" David answered.

"David, it seems you can't work anymore at my place," said the voice on the phone.

"What's wrong, boss? Did I do something wrong?" David asked.

"David, I've heard many new employees say your work is slow and lazy, and even long-serving employees say the same," the voice replied.

"Huh?" David was taken aback.

David was a diligent person; he didn't care about others' laziness. Although his colleagues were lazy, David worked hard and didn't report their laziness.

"Please don't fire me! I've been working hard!" Ethan pleaded.

"I'm sorry, David, even the new female employee says you often flirt with them and make them uncomfortable. Sorry, David, find another job," said the voice on the phone.

The call ended abruptly.

Firstly, he was rejected by his girlfriend, secondly he was belittled by his friends, thirdly he was scolded by his younger sister, and lastly he lost his job.

David walked to the attic, sat down, gazing at the night sky.

David lit his cigarette; only nicotine could calm him down; just one cigarette already seemed like heaven to David.

David gazed up at the sky,

"Why? Why!?"

"I never did anything wrong."

"I even hold my desires for Livy's sake; why? Why? Why am I like this?"

David was too foolish and naive; he believed Livy was still a virgin and wanted to get virgim married.

David felt resentful about what had happened; "Where is the proof that goodness will always win at the end? Is it a lie?"

David continued to grumble to himself until he unintentionally began to cry.
