Although the robed men in the church hall were either seriously injured or dead, when Jason and Raphtalia explored the church, they still encountered obstacles from some robed men. Their attire clearly indicated that they belonged to the church.
Of course, these individuals were not that strong in combat—in Jason's eyes, they were like rotten fish and shrimp. Thus, he was able to dispatch them quickly while simultaneously turning on the lights in the church one by one.
Not long after, the entire church became brightly lit again.
As they ventured deeper into the church, they began to discover more and more items.
"Master Jason, there seems to be a lot of holy water here."
At Raphtalia's call, Jason approached three boxes, inside of which were neatly arranged bottles of liquid.
He picked one up, noticing that it contained a transparent liquid, which shone with a golden light under the illumination.
This should be what Raphtalia mentioned; these boxes held the holy water of the church. While it may sound like water used by charlatans to deceive the ignorant, in this world, it truly has some uses.
For example, it has the function of removing curses. In the eyes of ordinary people, it also serves to dispel bad luck and disasters. It can be considered a kind of panacea.
"Now that the Pope is taking people away, many will need this kind of holy water, and there's no place to buy it. When the time comes, people will sell it, and they will definitely make a lot of money," Jason noted, his eyes lighting up. He transformed into a storage shield and placed his hand on the box.
Immediately, all three boxes of holy water were absorbed into the storage shield. After clearing out a lot of materials earlier, there was plenty of space in the storage shield to accommodate more items.
...
"Master Jason... There are so many books here!"
After a while, Raphtalia entered what looked like a study.
"Books? What's so special about books? They shouldn't be worth much."
"But these seem to be magic books, which introduce some ways to use magic skills."
"The magic books? That's a good find! Let's take them!" Jason exclaimed, promptly putting some useful magic books into the storage shield while discarding the useless ones to avoid taking up space. He had a hunch that this church was very rich and contained many other valuable items.
The two spent a significant amount of energy and time identifying which were magic books.
Taking items for free naturally brought joy, and both Jason and Raphtalia felt happy about their discoveries.
"Master Jason... This place seems to be a weapon arsenal."
.....
"I'm coming!"
Soon after, Raphtalia stumbled upon what appeared to be an arsenal. It contained many armors, longswords, staffs, and other equipment, much of which exuded a silver light, suggesting they were high-end enchanted items.
While these pieces might not be usable immediately, they could certainly fetch a good price if sold.
"Master Jason... There are so many items here; your storage shield seems unable to hold them all."
"It doesn't matter, just get me some rope and bags."
"Okay! Master Jason... These bags seem a bit too small."
"Tear off the curtains on the windows."
"Oh!"
In the arsenal, Jason quickly stored the advanced equipment into his shield, but as Raphtalia pointed out, some items still couldn't fit.
However, this was not an issue for Jason. He packed the advanced armor into bags and tied the longswords and staffs directly to his body with rope.
When Raphtalia returned to the hall, her body was covered in bags.
As for Jason, it was even more absurd; he carried a bag bigger than himself on his shoulders, along with more than ten longswords and several staffs tied to his back.
He looked like a humanoid weapon arsenal.
With every step Jason took, there was a boom under his feet, and the floor seemed ready to crack at any moment. It was hard to imagine just how heavy the burden he carried was.
In the hall, the men in long robes who were seriously injured but still alive were lying on the ground, screaming in pain. When they saw Jason's appearance at that moment, they were completely stunned, even forgetting the pain in their bodies.
Did Jason really take everything from the church?
Wait... Why did the pattern of the burden on his body look so familiar?
Wasn't that the curtain that the Pope cherished so much?
As Jason's gaze swept over them, the robed men suddenly had a bad feeling.
Then Jason set the massive burden down on the ground and walked towards them step by step.
When he came to a corpse, Jason fumbled east and west.
Of course, Jason was not interested in the dead bodies, but in the equipment on them.
"A staff? Hmm... it looks pretty good. Hey... so it's not just ordinary clothes but a magic robe with some attribute bonuses."
Hearing the broken thoughts coming from Jason's mouth, the conscious robed men began to tremble.
And then... all the equipment on the robed men in the hall vanished, leaving them completely exposed, dressed only in tattered fabric that barely covered their important parts.
Jason's huge baggage swelled even more as he took all the equipment from the robed men.
"I didn't find the weapon that imitated the holy artifact, so let's take some interest," Jason remarked, feeling somewhat disappointed not to find that weapon, though it was to be expected. After all, the Pope had escaped, and such an important item would likely be taken with him.
Jason adjusted the huge burden once more, but after taking a few steps outside, he stopped and turned his head to glance at the dargon Hourglass.
The conscious robed men suddenly felt tense.
This guy, wouldn't he steal the dragon Hourglass as well?
"Too big; forget it!" Jason shook his head and continued walking outside.
The robed men just began to breathe a sigh of relief when Jason's voice rang out again: "Raphtalia, don't leave any alive; kill them all."
"Yes!"
Raphtalia set down the various bags she carried, drew her sword, and walked toward the severely injured robed men still clinging to life.
Soon, the screams in the hall ceased.
Raphtalia then caught up with Jason once more.
"Master Jason, where are we going now?"
"First, we sell the stolen goods. It feels wrong to say that—let's sell the equipment first, and then we'll settle accounts with the old king."
...
"Who is knocking on my door at night? My shop is already closed."
"Stop knocking, we're coming in!"
The owner of the weapon shop, who was about to fall asleep, was startled awake by the heavy pounding on the door and hastily threw on some clothes.
When he opened the door and saw Jason and Raphtalia, he paused for a moment: "Brother Shield Hero, little girl, what are you carrying that's so heavy?"
"I'll explain later, but let's go inside first," Jason replied.
"Alright."
Seeing the shop owner step back, Jason moved forward. As soon as he stepped into the shop, there was a loud 'bang,' and the door next to him shook.
Jason turned his head, blinked his eyes, and said helplessly, "It's stuck, boss... Please open the door wider; I have too much of a burden on my shoulders, and I can't get in."
The weapon shop owner stared blankly at him, black lines forming on his face, unsure of how to respond.
