Rose didn't react. The words made sense to her mind but she didn't actually want to believe them. How could her brother who advocated truth and honesty be in cahoots with That Guy?

She asked Asher. Maybe their mind talk gad some wrong link and she heard wrong. That could be the issue, right?

Rose didn't believe it.
'Are you sure you saw it? I find it hard to believe.'
Asher knew she wouldn't believe it.
