Chapter 2 - THE RUTHLESS ENEMY

Elisa's pov

My body was shivering in the cold and my new red dress was all drenched.

I was standing alone at an empty bus stop and there were no running buses.

*Cell phone ringing

My fingers pulled out my cell phone from my handbag and the screen flashed my mother's number.

"Hello?" I answered, my voice shaking.

"Kian kicked you out?" She growled.

"That's true!" My lips replied.

"You should have been good to him, but you ruined everything for us!" Her voice raised on the other side and she started blaming me for all the misfortunes.

"Mia is pregnant with Kian's pup!" Words came out of my mouth and silence replenished the other side of the phone.

"Mia's pregnant?" She was shocked.

"Kian Salvatore cheated on me with my best friend…of all people!" I said it again for her better understanding.

He doesn't even deserve the title of ex-husband. The ba*tard was not worthy of having any connection with me.

She paused for a few seconds again.

"It's all your fault, Elisa." Her voice growled, breaking the silence between us on the phone.

"Your mother-in-law always wanted an heir and since you couldn't do that, Ian went after your beautiful friend."

I could only smile!

Is that woman really my mother?

*Sigh

"Kian and I signed the divorce papers, so he can do whatever the f*ck he wants, and it doesn't matter who he has taken as his new b*tch…because that's none of my business!"

"How can you be so disrespec-"

Before she could finish that sentence, my thumb pressed the red button on the screen and cut the darn call.

I looked up at the sky and only prayed for a miracle to drag me out of this darkness towards the light.

"Please, God!"

Tears rolled down my eyes.

All of a sudden, a black SUV came to a halt in front of the bus stop. The front window slowly rolled down, and the driver locked eyes with me.

"You're Elisa Salvatore, right?"

I was startled.

"Madam?" His voice called again.

"Uh…yes." My lips told the truth.

As soon as the driver confirmed my identity, his window slid up.

"That's strange!" My voice muffled.

The creak of the back door drew my attention. A figure emerged, holding a transparent umbrella, and their shiny black shoes made contact with the muddy road. The umbrella rose, shielding its holder, and in that instant, our gazes locked in a timeless exchange.

The man standing in front of me was none other…Tristan Presley.

I was going to him, but he found me first.

He approached me with deliberate steps, his umbrella forming a protective shield over my head. A profound silence enveloped us, broken only by the rhythmic patter of raindrops on the earth, echoing in all directions.

At 6'2", he towered over me, casting a formidable shadow. His presence exuded an aura of strength and intensity, like a force of nature.

His eyes held the captivating hue of the blue ocean, simultaneously alluring and foreboding.

Tristan Presley, the ruthless Alpha of the Silver Crest pack.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

"I am glad you found me, Tristan Presley." My lips muttered the words with a smile.

Everyone in our pack said he was cursed for killing a witch's child.

The witch cursed him, decreeing that any woman who conceived his child would face a terrible death. He would never be able to see the face of his own heir.

Kneeling on the ground before the witch, he pleaded for her forgiveness. Showing a sliver of mercy, she suggested that a woman with great inner strength might be able to bear his heir.

For years, he had been searching for such a woman, but no luck!

The curse was the reason why no woman in his pack, or any other pack, was willing to be near him, let alone marry him.

"Were you waiting for me?" His brow twitched.

"I was!"

"And why would you wait for your husband's enemy in an empty bus stop in the middle of the night?!?" His tone was wrapped in curiosity.

My lips sucked in a breath.

"What do you want the most?" My question cut straight to the point, avoiding his curiosity.

"Why?" His gaze turned cold.

"I want to make a deal with you."

He smirked.

"What a courageous woman you are, Elisa Salvatore!"

His lips moved closer to mine…

"A weak wolf who just met her husband's enemy and wants to strike a deal with him. You're not scared…at all."

"Are you interested or not?" My voice raised a little.

He observed my fuming eyes for a second…

"Let me hear it."

"Not here!" My lips refused.

"Then?" He narrowed his eyes.

"Take me with you to your mansion and if you don't like my deal, you can throw me out anytime."

It took me a lot of courage to say that.

"You're a surprise package and I can't wait to see what this package is carrying inside?" His voice muttered softly.

"So?"

"Take your bag and get in the car."

He commanded.

It was my first achievement.

The journey to his mansion was engulfed in an uncomfortable silence, heightening the awkwardness of the situation. As we stepped inside his mansion, we settled on the plush couch side by side, enveloped by an air of tension. He leaned in and broached the subject of the deal with a curious yet guarded expression holding a glass of whiskey in his hand.

My fingers held onto each other tightly.

"Kian Salvatore cheated on me with my best friend, Mia. To be precise, she's pregnant with his pup."

"What a petty ba*tard!" He mumbled underneath his breath.

"Not only that but he threw divorce papers at my face and kicked me out."

"So you're divorced now?"

My head nodded.

He took a sip of his whiskey and looked into my eyes.

"Why are you giving me this information?"

"Answer my question first…what do you want the most?"

He rested the whiskey glass on the small glass table in front of us.

"A woman who can give birth to my heir." He answered what I was expecting.

"Let me be that woman for you."

"What?" His brow twitched.
