After what felt like an eternity of uninterrupted time alone, Six and Rebecca finally took a break from their intense "love making" and joined their family for the picnic Viktor and Betty had prepared.
The couple, both relaxed and glowing, strolled hand-in-hand to the park where the rest of the family had already gathered.
The park, now a beautiful and lush green space thanks to Viktor's G.E.C.K. terraforming efforts, was alive with the laughter of children. Tanya and August even though twins sat a little apart from the rest of the group, keeping a watchful eye on their younger siblings.
Levi and Mikasa were sword-fighting with makeshift wooden sticks nearby, a fierce competition as always, while Sasha kept sneaking bites of the food, her hands filled with snacks.
But it was their youngest child, Lambo, who was having the time of his life. Running around with wild energy, he giggled as he played tag with Boone's children and the B1 battle droids that Six had repurposed for family activities.
Every now and then, the droids would allow themselves to be caught, much to Lambo's joy. His infectious laughter filled the air, warming everyone's hearts.
Rebecca, spotting Lambo darting between picnic baskets, chuckled and nudged Six.
"Looks like our little troublemaker is having a blast."
Six smirked, watching his son zip past, nearly tripping over Sasha in the process.
"Kid's got energy for days. Must've gotten that from you."
Rebecca playfully smacked his arm, but her smile widened as she looked around at their family.
"Can't argue with that."
Betty and Viktor had laid out a massive spread for the picnic. Freshly baked bread, brahmin steaks, homegrown fruits and vegetables, and, of course, plenty of sweets for the children.
The sight of such a feast reminded everyone of how far Goodsprings had come under the family's guidance, now teeming with life and prosperity in a way the wasteland rarely offered.
Tanya, ever the disciplined one, approached Six with a small grin.
"About time you two showed up. We've been holding down the fort."
Six ruffled her hair playfully, causing her to scowl slightly.
"You did good, Tanya. Glad you kept things under control."
Rebecca scooped Lambo up into her arms as he ran past, making him giggle.
"And you, little one, did you behave?"
She asked, smirking at the thought.
"Lambo always behaves, Mama!"
He declared proudly, despite the sticky mess of food on his cheeks.
The entire family settled down on the picnic blankets, enjoying the delicious food and each other's company.
Viktor shared stories of his latest engineering projects, Betty reminisced about old trading routes with Cassidy, and the children ran around, their laughter echoing through the park. Even Raul, usually more reserved, joined in with Viktor on discussing potential upgrades to the town's defenses.
Six looked around at the scene—his family, his home, his legacy. It wasn't just the powerful technology or his formidable Vault that defined his life now; it was this. The moments of joy, laughter, and peace with the people he cared about most.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the warm golden light bathed the park in a tranquil glow, creating a serene atmosphere that enveloped the entire family. Six wrapped an arm around Rebecca's waist, pulling her close.
She rested her head on his shoulder feeling her warmth against him as they sat on the soft grass, surrounded by the laughter of their children and the hum of conversation between Viktor, Betty, and the others.
Rebecca sighed contentedly, her head resting on Six's shoulder, her fingers tracing light patterns across his arm.
"You know."
She murmured.
"Days like this... I never thought I'd have them. Not in Night City, not in the wasteland."
Six smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
"We've come a long way."
Their eyes drifted over to their children—Tanya, August, Levi, Mikasa, Sasha, and little Lambo—each of them unique, some reincarnations of powerful warriors, yet all still just kids in this moment, laughing and playing without a care in the world.
Seeing them like this, with the weight of their past lives set aside for a while, filled Six and Rebecca with a deep sense of pride and love.
Lambo was now chasing a few of the B1 battle droids around, giggling wildly as they let him think he could catch them. Sasha, ever the food thief, was sneaking more snacks from the picnic baskets when she thought no one was watching, though Tanya's sharp eyes caught her every time.
"I think this is it."
Six said quietly, his voice filled with contentment.
"The life I always wanted. Peace, family, and a future that's ours."
Rebecca looked up at him, her eyes softening.
"You've built all this. We've built it, together."
The weight of their shared journey, the battles fought, the dangers faced, and the love that had grown between them over the years, made this moment all the more meaningful.
They had carved out a place of peace in a world filled with chaos, and as they sat there watching the sunset on another beautiful day, they knew they had everything they needed.
Six tightened his arm around Rebecca, feeling the rise and fall of her breath as they sat in quiet reflection. The future was uncertain, as it always had been, but for now, in this golden hour, everything felt perfect.
After the picnic, Six and Rebecca found themselves completely absorbed in each other, continuing their passionate love-making for two straight weeks. Their world narrowed down to just the two of them, ignoring all responsibilities, alarms, and even the daily routines of their children.
The penthouse became their private retreat, with clothes scattered everywhere and the sounds of their intimacy filling the rooms. They only paused for short moments of sleep or food, only to dive back into their heated affair.
The rest of their family, particularly Viktor and Betty, were left to handle the children, daily affairs, and anything else that came up. Six's crew, familiar with their commander's habits, managed to keep Goodsprings running without him, while Tanya, Levi, and the others went about their training and activities as usual, understanding that their parents would eventually resurface.
Despite receiving an alert from the invasion system about Shido's incoming zombie attack, Six and Rebecca continued their two-week-long love-making spree. The alert had sounded days ago, but the pair ignored it, too engrossed in each other to care about the impending danger. Their shared passions had consumed them, the world outside their penthouse nothing more than a fleeting distraction.
Finally, as the countdown for the invasion reached its final moments. The system blared its final warning, and they realized they couldn't ignore the threat anymore. They reluctantly peeled themselves away from each other.
Clothes were scattered across the floor, the room still heavy with the scent of sweat and lust. Rebecca sat up, her hair disheveled, giving Six a playful smirk as she grabbed her discarded shirt and tossed it to him.
Rebecca groaned, rolling off of Six with a playful yet exasperated sigh.
"I guess the world isn't going to save itself, huh?"
"You just can't get enough of me, can you?"
She teased.
Six, breathing heavily but with a smirk on his face, quickly got to his feet.
"Not when you're like that."
He replied looking at her naked body still lingering in the afterglow, he then pulled his pants on.
"But I guess saving the world comes first, huh?"
Rebecca groaned, stretching as she grabbed her armor, still reluctant to wear it even in the face of an invasion.
"Only for a few hours. Then, we're right back where we left off."
She said with a wink.
They moved quickly, knowing there wasn't much time left. The invasion countdown displayed ominously on his system monitor, but Six had already prepared for this. His defenses were fortified in Spring Mt. Ranch State Park.
Turrets, artillery cannons, hundreds of doids B1 battle droids to fight and operate the defenses, and automated T-45 power armor they could control from far away. They sent only T-45 since it was the cheapest they could mass produce.
By the time they were suited up and ready for battle, only minutes remained on the timer. Six and Rebecca stood side by side, their bodies still humming with the aftermath of their passion, but their minds now locked on the task at hand.
"I swear."
Rebecca muttered as she loaded her favorite weapon.
"If another Invasion interrupts our time again, I'll kill the invader twice."
Six chuckled.
"I'll make sure to hold him still for you."
As the invasion timer struck zero, Six had already evacuated everyone. They watched from their Vault Command Room's large screen as the cacophony of chaos erupted with Shido's zombie forces swarming into the Mojave. Yet, Six and Rebecca were well-prepared within the Goodsprings Vault, each commanding the units in the fray.
