Chereads / Corruption Trail / Chapter 3 - They’ll all fall

Chapter 3 - They’ll all fall

The blood of the Monarch still remains on my hands as I pass the Samurai at the gate with the tome. He stares at me with a smirk on his face, and for the second time, I have no idea how this man became filled with such malice that I can sense it just from looking in his general direction, just looking at him makes me feel like I'll die.

Those eyes-  Those abyssal eyes, it feels as if a gateway into an infinite world of violence and destruction awaits me on the other side, as if they are a gateway to my own death, and it's physically painful for me to look at them for too long.

I vomit up a stream of blood, that being the backlash of staring into his eyes so much. Despite everything, I gather the courage to look up at this man in front of me and speak.

"Who- Who are you? I need to know, Samurai."

He laughed, before speaking in a cryptic tone. "You do not need to know my real name, Angel, but you can call be Shinichi Chi. You may also know me by my nickname. Akui no aru Fenikkusu, or as you people say in English, the Malicious Phoenix. Originally they were trying to say malevolent, but those idiots keep making mistakes."

I've never heard of his nickname before, but now it'll be a good idea to research.

I walk off, vowing to never be stupid enough to fight that Samurai again, feeling a swirling storm in my blood. I see the disgusting world around me, brought up by inferior minds with no understanding of morality or leadership whatsoever.

Valence, at the center of the Aon Space, is a world heavily restricted for the citizens where they are all killing each other slowly to decide who gets supplies or promotions. Prince Aon doesn't actually do his job assigning such, all he does is use fear as a motivator.

I walk through the cities of this planet, looking for that little Prince. Best to make sure that he isn't hiding somewhere on this planet still.

An image comes to mind, I see a tree with millions of familiar faces imbedded in it and surrounded by a black void.

The faces stare at me in cold resentment, staring into my soul. I can tell that it's mostly family members, but why?

I see a strangely familiar disfigured face in the tree next to one resembling my own.

Suddenly, the tree ignites somehow. All the faces melting and screaming in the fire.

The spectacle continues, I see many more trees just like it burning the exact same. The screams are haunting.

Millions of crosses were floating in this void with the trees. Swaying as if being blown by wind, giving an ominous creek every time.

Blood was splattered all over the crosses, a blackened burn mark was left in the center of some, a feeling of paradoxical melancholy stared me down.

I see floating red smiles in the air all around me, as if they were painted over an invisible wall with blood.

Smiling faces conceal the most judgement, you never know just what is behind them. The ominous faces just stare and stare, as a building emerges from the void, a giant grime covered tower of sorts.

An ominous orange glow illuminated above the tower. It sent a chill down my spine, and I began falling down through the horrible void below.

Many different sights flash around me as I fall: a flaming cross, erected right into the center of a city; a giant marble floored house with blood leaving a goopy trail to a small room with less decadent wooden flooring; a shadowy playground with millions of lifeless eyes in the sky and a few humanoid figures sobbing as they face me with nothing but hatred; and a simple blue sky, falling somehow in little blue squares to reveal a black abyss, or square eyes as dark as an abyss.

I snap out of it and open my eyes, I have no time for this.

There, back to reality. Back to order-

Dark strings blur my, vision and it becomes hard to see, I however see the paint outline of a blackened Church. It's as if they are trying to drag me back.

I refuse to allow that, after much struggle, I finally am completely back.

Breathing heavy and sweating as chills go down my spine, I move forward. It felt as if the chills had hollowed my spine out, and it would snap in on itself any second now.

There are more important things to focus on, I need to move on. I just need to move on already. It can't be that hard.

I see an explosion in the distance, as a city is sieged by soldiers from another city, a simple howitzer shells the city while soldiers with low tech guns and weak magic quickly overwhelm the city's own forces.

I'll act as the Seraph of the Holy Realm. Those who believe that their lives are worth ending those of random citizens are hopeless, they will become martyrs because it is fate that I end them for this corruption.

I enter the city, where the bloodshed continues. The soldiers continue to execute normal citizens, not understanding that they will be ended today. All of them will fear my very existence.

6 of the soldiers try to shoot at me with primitive weapons, tiny pistols and assault rifles, but the slow bullets can only hit me if I stay still, and the bullets shatter into atoms on impact. These guns are the same as 19th century Earth ones, pathetic little projectiles.

The Divine Order must be upheld, I cut two of the soldiers down right away. The red light once again emanating from me, this time the entire world is engulfed in this light.

The soldiers fall to their knees and bow down to me like a god, thinking that they will be saved that way.

"Your faith is faulty, even if renewed. You will not be given time to reform, I will be the light of the tunnel that you cross through when you enter the Elysium."

I decapitate all 4 remaining soldiers right there, causing more soldiers to hopelessly try to fight back against me.

I continue to cut them down easily, even catching a howitzer shot mid air and throwing it back at the city in which they were firing if. Let's see them shell this place again.

I walk over the corpses of the soldiers slowly, stomping over them slowly as I continue to look around.

Suddenly, I see a man approach me from a distance.

I got the sudden feeling that he wasn't going to be appreciative of the effort I did to save his city.

"Do you have any idea what you've done? Those howitzers are incredibly dangerous, you could have just killed a number of innocents in that city by throwing it, what are you thinking? With how you threw it, it would have to land in the capital of Yoro, which is mostly homeless people and low class citizens!"

"I got them to stop firing shells here for now, didn't I? I saved innocent people here."

"You went too far.. Only a monster would have done that with no remorse."

"I went too far? If that's the case then I'm sorry to tell you, but I'm going to go farther. I will not tolerate these sins being allowed to continue after what happened to the Holy Realm."

The citizen gasps, but stands tall and gets ready to fight. He looks at me with hatred in his eyes, and I can only feel disgusted by him.

He wasn't going to fight against the soldiers shelling his city and he wouldn't defend his fellow citizens, but now that I've stepped in to help, he's willing to fight me.

"Well, may I hear your name, you'll need a funeral after this." I say, raising my scythe to emphasize the weight of the situation.

"My name is Heinrich Kaiser. Leader of this city, member of the United Union program, and the Grimson of the newest Kingdom."

"Those are quite interesting titles that I'd normally ask you about, but in this case you won't even live long enough to tell me."

I swing my scythe, only for him to surprisingly block it. His raw strength is quite impressive, I can feel the world vibrate around me, as if his punches are shaking Valence itself, if not the entire Aon Space.

Funny how there are all these moths, corrupt beings who have the power to act but let the world suffer from their own inaction, I don't know why people think that it won't bite them back when they pick fights they can't win.

Heinrich fires a magic bullet from his fingers that pierces through my stomach, and yet it is nothing compared to Prince Aon.

He keeps firing these magic bullets, but I can easily walk through them. I feel the Mana from the shots before they hit me, and slap them out of the air ahead of time.

These bullets still move much to slow, they are around light speed, which is much below the average mage.

I take a casual scythe swing towards them, which they again block, but then I use that opening to blast Heinrich with explosive red energy.

I watch him tumble back, but he still gets up. How can he still be standing?

I blast him again, and slash off his arm while he's down. The gore as he looked down at his halved stump of an arm was satisfying beyond words.

I stab him through the ribcage, but he somehow creates an energy explosion around himself that makes it so that I am sent flying, and he gets up with his injuries instantly recovering in front of me.

I get up, rushing forward with my scythe, but he knocks it out of my hand and blasts my throat with a much stronger and faster magic bullet.

Magic energy surrounds his fists as they fly towards me as if propelled by an internal engine, and I can feel the impact shake within my skull and vibrate throughout all if my bones, I feel another one of the hits break through my ribcage but I still manage to blast him with a red explosive shot that kicked up dust; rubble; metal and cement throughout the city, launching it into the air as it started to rain down, including on Heinrich, who got impaled by a metal bar and crushed under some rubble.

I was going to walk away, but the rubble comes flying towards me anyway, and I have to cut it mid air.

I see that Heinrich is still up, and he looks like he'll drag me to the Abyss if he has to.

I can see numerous of his shots fly through me and he keeps making them stronger and bigger. The projectiles keep coming in new variations.

I can slap as many as I want to the side, but new variations of stronger ones just keep coming.

Soon enough, explosive shots start coming and then flaming shots are added on, before he finally adds a perfect combination of both with greater size.

I cut the bullets in half mid air and charge, summoning up enough raw magic to create a fiery explosion that flares up into a cyclone and hits Heinrich hard, launching him back.

I take a deep breath, awakening the power of my Spirit Motor. Power seeps into my blood like poison, and it'll make Heinrich fall much like poison.

A giant string of Mana concentrates on my hands, and I throw it like a spear, causing it to form into three giant bolts of lighting. One red bolt, one blue bolt, and one purple one.

The three bolts hit Heinrich with an otherworldly amount of force as it creates a giant explosion of terror and volts that would surely fry a normal man.

However even still, Heinrich gets up and walks towards me. This is getting repetitive.

I blast him with more lightning from my fingers, but he refuses to go down. He keeps coming, firing more and more of his magic bullets.

I guess I'll use a simple dark energy mortar, the manifestation of the Dark Ash of Wyyelar and a small amount of the energy of The End into a condensed explosion.

I blast him with the giant mortar, launching him back and blowing off both of his legs and one of his arms.

Much of his blood disintegrated, and his body was sent flying into a building hard enough to where the otherworldly metal crumpled on impact.

And yet I just couldn't keep him down. Why wouldn't he give up? I am the final one who can bring down the light of the Divine Order.

My enemy creates a blade out of red energy, and I prepare my scythe.

I slash at him with vigor, cutting through his arm numerous times, but I feel him slash my gut and throat with incredible force.

Divine light emanates from me as I swing harder and harder, but I couldn't damage him very much still.

I will make those who'd fight me quiver, I have to make it so that people are afraid to even meet me, not to mention meet my scythe.

I decide to coat my scythe in fire, lighting, and unrefined Mana. I will not let this man beat me, otherwise that would be proof that I'm far from being able to beat Ginzolg.

I dodge his bullets, weaving through them and slapping them away. I can feel myself nearing him as a trail of mana rips behind me, the spark of heat in my blade causes a chain reaction, blowing up the space behind me and propelling me further, I take no time, and slash the man with my scythe.

The scythe cleaves into him first try, hitting him with the immeasurable force of my Spirit Motor.

His screams echo aloud, but he hits me with an explosive impact right back from his fist, which was reinforced with magic energy, and it was a much harder hit than even the one I just got.

I was launched back, and I felt like I was losing again.

The bullets continued to pummel me, I could feel the onslaught still, and I desperately tried to keep cutting them all in half mid air.

Each bullet was well past light speed now, and each one I cut before it could hit me, but each bullet is getting faster than the last.

I launch myself forward, ready to deliver the final hit, but he hits me first, back and forth with his reinforced hands in a brutal combo, before hitting me so hard it created a massive condensed explosion.

I'm bleeding horribly. The injuries send my mind into berserk, and I can feel even more bullets strike me still.

I thought I was done, but then, the man mercifully stopped shooting me while I was down.

"You lost, angel. Leave this place now. You may think you are doing the right thing, but you are just another unwanted monster that threatens the pacifist society of this city. The fact that your violence got me to fight you is proof alone of such."

I hear his words.. and I don't like them. Why do his words frustrate me so much? Could it be that he has a point?

The red light disappears, and I fall down to my knees. I see it now, what was I thinking? What had I let get into me? It doesn't feel like I was in control of my actions, my thoughts didn't feel like my own.

I leave the city behind, exploring this new world further still. The red light appears again, and I ponder my actions further.

What is actually wrong with me? I went too far there, but my principle is still correct. These people are letting their own citizens die and suffer in an unfair world that shouldn't be allowed to exist.

The moths- the corruption will not be allowed to stand, and I'm afraid that a being as evil as Ginzolg will continue to spread it faster than I can destroy it all- I just need to keep moving forward, and after I become unstoppable, I'll divide Ginzolg's puppets, and end his corruption forever.

I am the result of this horrible world moving to burn down the innocent for no reason, the world made it so that I had to act for the Divine Order. If I'm a monster, then the world made me one, and that means that the only justice would be to continue my work.

It all just strengthens what I already knew, that this world will need to be cleansed in its entirety some day.

That little mongrel, Heinrich- You can't oppose the will of an Angel, of the Divine Order, and expect him to see you as a righteous or moral being of superior virtues, I will someday get revenge for this.

I feel the cosmic abnormalities of this world deep, resonating with my Spirit Motor. I feel the weight of this new world starting to crush me, but I stand taller. This world is pathetic, it feels as if its weight is all on me, yet it is easy to carry.

I'm moving beyond being just a mere Angel, I represent the Will of the Holy Realm and the movement for justice across the cosmic stretch of all realms of reality.

I'm a phantom of the virtuous spirit who lived in that city, and soon I will have judged all of the corrupt people of the world.

I'm already becoming strong enough to win, I beat Prince Aon, and it'll only get easier from here.

I will clip the wings of the monarch, like the moths of his empire, the final poetic touch. Fitting for the end of a pretender.

I walk through this horrid run down world, where within a deep forest I see a giant damp Obelisk sculpted with strange stone similar to marble with the same giant red swirl visible through the transparent exterior.

It was the grandest statue I had ever seen. Simultaneously the most ominous and fascinating statue ever, something that I could never have imagined prior.

At the top there was a giant lady in a sea green dress with vantablack marks streaming down her face and hands.

The statue showed veins popping out of the palms of her hands, as well as one of her eyes popping out ominously as it is barely connected and hanging from the optical nerve.

She was constructed of similar marble, with black and red swirls in the middle in random areas but especially around her mouth built into the shapes of tiny droplets of liquid, with red swirls and sea green swirls being used to differentiate each individual droplet into blood or water.

Her dress had a fancy golden symbol etched into the top with 6 wingless moths dying on the ground.

Little sections of her arms had the marble cut out and replaced with red sandstone and other red colored stone, giving the impression of cuts ranging from small to large all over her.

Little coils of metal jutted out of her back in the shape of an octopus' tentacles and yet were restricted by chains, as was her neck, bladed chains that cut into those it restrained.

But what I noticed most was the color of her eyes, a frightening thing that made me squirm.

Her eyes were true black, they absorbed 100% of the light they touched, something I'd never seen before.

Next to her were 5 statues of other feminine people with fatal injuries of varying brutality on their knees to praise her or trying to carry and support her.

All of them had dead eyes, every last one of them.

There was a large sign in front of the Obelisk of the giant lady, which told a tale of her identity and history.

"In honor of the witch of the sea, Mistress  Tiymio Pixe, and for the sake of history is this obelisk dedicated.

She was born from the city of Motourian Siren, which was under the ocean and held together through the combination of the advanced runes and the technology that they could amass.

She lived as a powerful witch until she was captured by the guards and enslaved for crimes against humanity.

As a servant of Princess Styria Piston, she was horribly beaten and tortured whenever she made a mistake, even being forced to eat uncooked Great Octopuses and Mercury Headed squids whole, starting with their disgustingly textured red tentacles and eyes.

Overtime, there was a storm that started to overpower the runes, a typhoon capable of destroying a continent came crashing down on them consistently, barely withstanding it as floods and minor punctures happened in some areas.

Citizens everywhere started drowning, until the majority of life remaining in the city was the royal family and their many high class workers.

In order to save the many, the few must be sacrificed, and Tiymio Pixe was forcibly drowned with her friends; the Sorrow Sisters,  by Princess Styria in order to appease the gods and save the many, a sacrifice that worked.

Tiymio became a worshipped god of the ocean upon her ascension after the sacrifice, selecting human prophets to spread her knowledge and sending the Sorrow Sisters in her service to uphold her will in times of distress."

Such cruelty— a horribly cruel punishment for merely existing— why is this world so sick?

I feel my heart lock, and I hear a sound that wasn't really there; a sound from my past, almost like a flashback with no vision.

I hear the sound of a man drowning in blood, sputtering and thrashing painfully as they are held down.

I remember the sounds of a boy whimpering, and the crackling of a deep fire.

I hear the horrible bell, ringing once, ringing twice, and I can briefly remember the disgustingly vivid red trails of the black bell and the sigil in the center depicting a skeleton being dismembered.

I feel the fire washing over me, the pain of the past still haunting me even now.

I need to stop thinking of this, now!

I walk through the dark forest, seeing numerous more obelisks and monuments of lesser importance and reverence, all scattered around messily.

At the edge of the forest, I found a rundown and overgrown city where plant roots pierced the ground and jutted out, displacing stone and growing so that they push buildings aside, making them lean dangerously close to collapse.

Nearby I see a giant shrine in the city, one even more ominous looking, a dark phantom of terror.

The shrine depicted three humanoid shadows covered in vast amounts of eyes and a sickening amount of blood, sticking out of the top of the exposed brain of a dead human, puppeteering them with black threads.

Even their eyes gave me an ominous feeling, my heart started beating and burning violently at the sight.

They felt like a void, the statue itself seemed to hide an immense dark world inside it's eyes, I could feel my soul itself squirm as I looked at it.

There was an ominous message on the shrine, it spoke cryptically however.

"At the end of time, place your faith into the Hignight clan and your sins will all be reverted back to the basis and your souls will be free.

At the end of time when the Prince of Hell and the heroes of the world are in conflict, the Hignight clan will resolve it all.

Black and red and red and black, 4 ancient dark powers stand at the top as the World Clock ticks down to the final hour.

The truth of the future lies in the 5 deceits and 7 Deadly Sins committed by gods and heroes alike in the new age."

I do not understand what the Hignight clan is, but I don't have the time for this, I cannot let myself be distracted any longer. It's time for me to retrieve the mirror.

An orange shadow looms over me, and I see a horrifying dark world where a city was being sacked by strange monstrous beings with large bulbous eyes hanging out of their skulls.

I hear the screams echoing in the distance as the orange light spreads. A deep purple light also spreads everywhere, angels dissolve into atoms on contact with it.

I see a pile of corpses, the skin peeling off of their necks and faces as the shadows spread.

I see a building surround me and walk through, a trail of blood appearing behind me with every step.

I walk through the horrible winding corridors and their malicious shadows until I find a final turn.

A single shower or tub lies in the center of a dark room, the salt from all the tears gave a strong smell.

This was the worst sight of all, an overpowering range of emotions came to me.

Rage that couldn't be described, despair so strong it couldn't be overcome, and fear so horrid that my spine went stiff and numb.

I hear a voice, I hear an ominous voice enter the room. I can't see her, but I know she's there. Her voice and presence makes every hair stand up.

Suddenly I woke up in the real world yet again, my eyes burning and a melancholic pain sweeping over me.

I don't need to focus on abstract nonsense when Ginzolg is out there.

"Ginzolg, I am coming for you, and someday, I will make you feel fear for the first time in your life."
