"What? You can't be serious, Dad," I said, looking at him in disbelief.
"You know very well, firsthand, my history with the Huang family," I continued, looking at him a little upset.
He sighed and looked up at me, a mix of sadness and determination in his eyes. "I know Xuěxuě, if it wasn't our last option, I wouldn't put you in this position."
I sat in front of him and crossed my legs, then I said in a serious voice, "Dad, what's happening now? Please tell me."
He took a deep breath and looked at me, a blend of regret and resolve in his gaze. "Xuěxuě, I know this is hard to understand, but we're left with no other choice," he began, his voice filled with remorse. "Our company suffered huge losses due to a project failure and the Huang family He decided to help us if we accept an alliance through marriage. The Huang family have proposed a marriage between you and Huang Zhènyǔ ."
I gasped, disbelief and shock evident on my face. "What? You can't be serious, Dad," I replied, my voice trembling. Memories of the complicated history between our families flooded my mind. How could he even suggest such a thing?
He reached out and gently placed his hand on mine, his touch offering some comfort amidst the turmoil. "I know it's difficult to accept, especially considering our history with the Huang family," he acknowledged, his voice tinged with sadness.
