Lucas wanted to use his heightened sense of smell, but winning so quickly wouldn't be as fun. He watched Avery's frustration and wanted to use it but stopped when he saw her freeze, her eyes wide.
''Check the menu.'' She mouthed to him. Lucas could only pick up the menu with a confused gaze; they had already looked through it and found nothing. Avery motioned for him to ring his head closer, ''Look down at the edge, you'll see.'' Her warm breath blew against his ears as she spoke of her findings.
Lucas was distracted and almost missed what she said; her hot, urgent stare at him made him react. He held the menu in front of him, looked at the edges, and immediately saw the soft texture of a cake. He poked a finger in that area; it was soft, and his hands came out with oil.
He looked up at her and nodded; Avery closed her mouth to suppress the scream that almost left her lips. ''Waiter!'' Avery called out to the waiter, instantly gaining everyone's attention.
