What thoughts flashed through the mind at the time of death, maybe your cherished memories of the past or a blank mind numb to pain, but to Avery was anger, frustration, and pain.
"Universe, curse you!!!" Avery screamed out in anger as the flower pot of her neighbor upstairs went straight for where she was standing, she was unable to use her vampire speed to move out of the way, a force held her hostage as the force of the pot pushed her down and cracked.
"Bang!"
She fell face down on the ground accidentally falling on the sharp edge of the pot cracks, it embedded into her chest, straight to her heart.
"Pfttt....cough..." She coughed with tears sliding down her eyes from the sharp pain, her eyes grew dimmer, and she felt unwilling and frustrated, 'what offense did I commit' her last thoughts before she died.
The moon's light shone on a female lying in the pool of her blood, the night air grew chilling as loud shouts and whispers as the crowd gathered around her dead body.
"Call the ambulance!"
"So much blood!"
"She's gone..."
The neighbors looked on with pity at the young woman's lifeless body.
....
"Hhh... Hhh..." Avery suddenly sat up in bed, her hands clutching her chest, gasping for air. With trembling hands, she picked up her phone, and her eyes went straight to the date: Friday, the thirty-first of August.
She was back again, for the second time, one day before her Twenty-First birthday on the first of September.
She held her face, "Ahhhh!" She screamed into her hair, venting her emotions before she felt better.
Avery pushed her hair backward, rolling to the edge of the bed. As she was about to place her feet on the floor, she paused, making sure her cover was out of the way and wouldn't trip her before she stamped her feet on the ground, wiggling her pink toes.
"Universe, I'm not falling again today!" She said in a cheerful voice, but before she could celebrate her small victory, she tripped over her slippers.
"Bang!" She fell face down, puffing her hair away from her face, her pale face flushed from embarrassment. Even knowing the past, she still couldn't escape falling.
She felt as if the universe was laughing at her. She sat up on the floor, and glanced around at her untidy room, with clothes scattered everywhere and an unfinished blue blood bag lying on the dressing table.
She lazily lay back on the rug, contemplating her life and how is she going to pass the hurdle of dying mysteriously before her birthday.
The first time, she went to a party with her friends, to party into the night till her birthday, but what happened? An idiot decided to start a fight with a broken bottle and she was accidentally pierced straight through the heart, killing her instantly.
She remembered how shocked she woke a day before midnight, she thought she had those miraculous moments of knowing the future and surviving her death, she made sure to get back home on time but what happened, she was killed by her neighbor's flower pot.
She just wants a normal birthday where she can live past midnight, why is it so hard?
*Ring...''
''here it goes again...sigh..'' she stretched her hand and picked up her phone from the bed, putting it on loudspeaker.
Emily's loud voice screamed from the phone,
"Bitch we partying hard for your birthday tonight! don't give me excuses-you're coming! put on that sexy gown; we gonna shake some booty tonight!" Avery murmured along with the words already knowing it by heart.
"Cough....hello...crack...I can't hear you." Avery made more cracking sounds and hung up. She will beg for her for forgiveness later, she's not going anywhere today.
She wondered, how fate would kill her in her own home. With that idea in mind, she got up from the ground and cleaned up her room, within minutes with her speed, removing all sharp things away from her sight.
Entering the bedroom, she washed off, brushing her teeth while scrolling on Weibo, reading through the current gossip concerning the vampire princess, the leading superstar in the music industry. The Internet is buzzing with her engagement to the Duke family. No matter how many times she read the news it never gets old.
Fuck, money marries money, she wondered why her kind is so rich, she's here looking for a job. Sigh...when will she start swimming in money?
She dropped the phone and went into the bathroom. Coming out with her head wrapped in a towel. Cleaning her bathroom mirror, she saw her reflection: red pupils, creamy pale skin, oval face, and red lips.
Unwrapping the towel, her black full hair dropped on her shoulders, she combed out the natural curls and blowdried it.
Putting on a crop top and baggy shorts, she opened her fridge and picked up a blue blood bag. She preferred the brand's packaging but hated the taste- it tasted inferior to warm blood.
She could only blame her weird sickness, which vampire feels faint and dizzy from the sight of blood? She was a joke to her kind, she can't feed on prey or humans unless her eyes are closed and she doesn't trust anyone to be left defenseless.
She sat on the bed and watched the time go by as she sucked on three bags of blood.
At 11:50, she grew tense and anxious, her mind was focused entirely on the time and watched as the minutes ticked by 11:52, 11:58... Sweat dripped on her face and she held her breath anxiously, 11:59.
A force from nowhere pushed her, and she fell hard on her bedpost, the bedpost, pierced straight through her heart, "Fuck... it's unfair...cough..." Her eyes grew dim.
The moon shone its glow into the room, shining on her sprawled lifeless body embedded into the bedpost with blood soaking her bed, dripping down to the ground.
Tick...Tock... "12:00."
