Chapter 11 - Coffee Break

Their new office space was quite nice, a major upgrade from Sira's previous workplace.

Instead of the desks put together like a school classroom in the old building, they now each had their own cubicle.

Sira sat down at her desk, placing two to-go cup coffees neatly towards the side, feeling more at ease now that she had a bit of privacy.

The computers the new company provided were a major upgrade and Sira couldn't help but find herself smiling as she booted it up, knowing it was going to help her complete her work much faster.

Yesterday had been spent mostly getting to know their new surroundings and was a day spent settling now.

Now it was time to work!

Sounds of typing filled the room as she and three other early arrivers typed up their reports and documents.

Azul entered the room in a navy casual suit and sat next to Sira.

"What are you doing there?" she asked, looking over at him. The day prior it had been someone else's desk.

"I switched places." He said nonchalantly, not looking at her as he unpacked his briefcase.

"Since when did you wear glasses?" Sira leaned into him, squinting at the frames on his face.

He glanced over at her and pushed them farther up the bridge of his nose. "Since this morning. Don't they make me look more professional?"

Without breaking his gaze, she reached over and grabbed one of the coffees from her desk before putting it in front of him.

 "You look silly."

With a tilt of his head, he raised his eyebrow, "What's this? Are you playing secretary? That's not your job position," he then lowered his voice, leaning into her and whispering, "or are you playing wife?"

Sira leaned back and shook her head, rolling her eyes with a small smile.

"No, neither. It's to thank you for making me feel a little less embarrassed about….you know."

There was still a little bit of tension between them regarding their intimate night due to her discomfort with the subject.

Thanks to him acting like it was so normal, not judging her and being understanding had made her feel more at ease, especially now that she had to work with him.

She shot him a smile then turned back to her work, taking a sip of her coffee as she double checked her document.

"Hey Azul~ What are you doing sitting over here? Your desk is over there by me, silly." Elora's tone was babyish and teasing as she waltzed up to him and sat on the edge of his desk.

He wanted to ignore her and make her go away, but he knew he couldn't.

After all, he wasn't just a regular employee. He had to still treat her like she was one of his employees and not allow personal life to interfere.

"I switched desks." His tone was curt, and he didn't look up at her as began setting his things up for the workday.

Elora sucked on her teeth as she nodded, before flipping her luscious blonde waves over her shoulder.

"Well that sucks! Now I don't have my best office buddy!"

Azul glared at her as she nudged him playfully, a flirty smile on her face.

Maybe it was because he saw how she treated Sira already, but she was really annoying him.

"Luckily, it was only a day we spent sitting next to each other. You should be able to adjust without me just fine."

Elora huffed, "Maybe I should just try to move over here too. Well, I got you coffee!"

Azul's eyes stared at the coffee she held out for him. He then reached for the one Sira had given him just a bit ago.

"Sorry, Sira already got me some." He said, staring deep into her eyes as he took a sip.

The look on Elora's face was priceless as she glanced between him and Sira, who was paying no attention to their conversation.

"Tch. Fine, I guess I'll just drink it instead."

She hopped off of his desk and began walking back to her desk. As she passed Sira, she dropped the coffee into her lap, causing the hot liquid to spill out over Sira's black skirt and white button up top.

Sira shrieked and jumped up, pulling the fabric away from her skin.

Azul's eyes widened as her voice pierced his ears.

"Oh my gosh, Sierra! I'm so sorry! I tripped and dropped my coffee, are you okay?!"

With tears streaming down her face, Sira ran to the bathroom.

Fearful of suffering from severe burns, she frantically brushed the liquid off her body with paper towels.

 "Are you okay?!"

Sira turned around, her face streaked with tears, to see Azul, his eyes wide with horror.

"Come here, let me have a look."

Without waiting for her response, he swiftly picked her up and placed her on the sink counter, examining her thighs.

"I think you'll be okay; it doesn't look serious."

He pulled out some paper towels and placed them on the counter next to her, wetting one with cold water.

She hissed as the rough material touched her sensitive flesh.

"I know, I know. Just bear with it for a second, okay? You can hold on to me if you need to."

Her skin was bright pink, but he could tell it wasn't a serious burn.

"These paper towels aren't helping much, you probably irritated it more when you tried to clean yourself up."

She placed her hands on his shoulders, clutching tightly and threw her head back, her face contorting as she held back additional tears.

Part of it was the stinging and burning sensation shooting through her thighs and lower abdomen, and part of it was due to the panic she'd just had.

"Shh….it'll be okay." He said, his tone soothing and his touch gentle.

"At lunch I'll take you home to get changed, alright?"

Sira bit her lip as she nodded, the strong scent of the coffee already nauseating her.
