Chapter 11 - Chapter 6.1: The Heart of the Temple

Temple of the Last Naga King, Aravalli Mountains

The chamber was quiet now, save for the faint echoes of their footsteps as Aryan and Priya moved through the temple's dimly lit corridors. The blinding light of the Naga's Eye had faded, leaving them in the uneasy stillness of the aftermath. The cultists were gone, but their presence had left a heavy mark on the temple and on the two adventurers.

The altar where Priya had found the key remained a focal point of the chamber, its surface still glowing with a soft, golden light. The carvings of serpents and ancient symbols seemed to pulse with the residual energy of the Naga's Eye. Aryan and Priya stood for a moment, catching their breath and gathering their thoughts.

"We need to search this temple," Aryan said, breaking the silence. "There has to be more here—some clues or knowledge about the Naga's Eye and how to control or destroy it."

Priya nodded in agreement. "The carvings and inscriptions on the walls might hold valuable information. Let's start there."

The two of them moved to the walls of the chamber, carefully examining the intricate carvings. The serpents coiled around scenes of battles, rituals, and celestial events. Each carving seemed to tell a story, but the meaning was not immediately clear.

Priya approached a large mural depicting a grand procession of Naga kings, their faces stern and their eyes set on the horizon. The scene was filled with symbols of power and mystery—serpents entwined with stars, crowns adorned with precious gems, and an ethereal glow surrounding the figures.

"There must be a way to interpret these," Priya said, tracing her fingers over the symbols. "Maybe there's a key to understanding them—something we're missing."

Aryan continued to study the carvings on the opposite wall, his attention caught by a series of symbols that resembled those on the Naga's Eye itself. As he examined them more closely, he noticed a pattern—a sequence of symbols that repeated with slight variations.

"Priya, look at this," Aryan called out. "These symbols here—they're similar to those on the Naga's Eye. I think they might be a code or a riddle."

Priya joined him, her eyes widening as she studied the symbols. "You're right. If we can decipher this, it might lead us to the answers we're looking for."

They spent the next hour poring over the symbols, trying to decipher their meaning. It was a painstaking process, but gradually they began to unravel the code. The symbols seemed to form a sequence of instructions or a map—guiding them deeper into the temple.

"This looks like a map of the temple," Priya said, her eyes lighting up with realization. "It's showing a hidden passage."

Following the clues from the map, they moved to a section of the chamber where the carvings indicated a concealed door. Aryan found a small, hidden mechanism near the base of the wall and, after some effort, managed to trigger it. A section of the wall slid open, revealing a narrow passageway leading further into the heart of the temple.

The passage was dark and musty, the air thick with the scent of ancient stone. Aryan and Priya stepped cautiously into the passage, their flashlights illuminating the way. The walls were lined with more carvings, their details even more elaborate than those in the main chamber.

The passage twisted and turned, leading them deeper into the mountain. After what felt like hours of walking, they reached a large, circular chamber. The chamber was filled with an array of ancient artifacts, their surfaces covered in dust and cobwebs. At the center of the room stood a massive stone pedestal, upon which rested a large, intricately carved tome.
