Chapter 6 - He Guessed It

The disastrous defeat in the Battle of Bregarnica forced Bulgaria to begin to tighten its defenses.

The same problem exposed was the chaotic logistics management and serious shortage of supplies.

:D

Every unit wants to ensure its combat effectiveness as much as possible, so how to obtain more supplies from the Quartermaster Department becomes a more troublesome problem.

Served as deputy commander of the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the 10th Infantry Division of the 4th Army.

Major Vasily was worried about this.

He planned to go to the quartermaster station to inquire about the supplies and how much supplies he could get for his regiment. Major Vasily was not sure because he knew how disgusting the people at the quartermaster station were.

but.

On the way to the quartermaster station.

Major Vasily encountered a strange phenomenon.

One person brought ten soldiers and a bunch of supplies with him. This was a normal thing, as it was transporting supplies.

But this captain is a girl.

He doesn't look like he's grown up yet.

The most important thing is to wear a German uniform.

She doesn't look like an officer at the front line, but rather like a young lady wearing an ill-fitting military uniform.

The sidearm placed on the saddle is not the M1878 carried by lieutenant officers, but the M1896 carried by colonel officers. These are combined together.

It's a bit intriguing.

Major Vasily immediately rode over on horseback.

You won't realize it until it's over.

Good guy.

These supplies were enough for half the regiment. I thought they were just some ordinary food, clothing and other supplies, but I didn't expect them to be all valuable items such as ammunition and medicine.

Major Vasily immediately rushed to Hilde.

Although his military rank was higher, Major Vasily took off his hat and saluted.

"Do you need any help, Captain?"

"Need not."

Obviously.

Hilde didn't take Major Vasily seriously at all.

But there is no way.

Major Vasily had to force his way forward.

"Hello, I am Vasily Slavikov, deputy commander of the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the 10th Infantry Division of the 4th Army."

"Hildegard."

"Can I ask which unit you belong to?"

Hilde turned her head and glanced at Major Vasily.

"Team Hildegard."

The meaning is concise and clear.

Hilde does not belong to any unit. The so-called Hildegarde Squad, that is, these people belong entirely to Hilde and are not part of the organization of other front-line troops.

certainly.

This also shows one thing, the supplies carried by Hilde's team most likely do not belong to any formation.

Major Vasily asked tentatively.

"Are you delivering supplies for others?"

"When I was investigating at the front, several companies complained to me about their lack of supplies, so I asked the Quartermaster Department for some supplies for them. Just in case, I prepared some more to see if there were any other troops that needed them."

Major Vasily's mouth twitched. The German master is the real master. (2)

Their troops wanted to ask the Quartermaster Department for more supplies, but even after fighting to the point of bloodshed, they still couldn't get anything.

Hilde could easily ask for a bunch.

but.

It also gave Major Vasily an opportunity.

This kind of young lady is very likely to cause trouble on the front line, and no one can take the responsibility once something happens. But it also represents an opportunity. As long as it is used well, Major Vasily will be promoted to a general, marry a beautiful and rich woman, and embark on a successful life.

All right.

Major Vasily is married.

But that's not important.

"Captain, are there any troops you're considering joining?"

"Do you need supplies?"

Hilde asked back.

"Yes, our regiment is very short of supplies, but in order to be fair, please come to our regiment to inspect it in person before deciding whether to agree."

Generally speaking.

Officers at the rank of captain do have some autonomy when choosing their first unit. Usually they are assigned to the appropriate unit based on demand, and the specific arrangements are still the responsibility of their superiors.

Officers can request a transfer, but they need to submit documents and give reasonable reasons, and only after obtaining approval from their superiors can they do so.

But.

Now it's average.

Hilde said simply.

"There's no need to go to all that trouble. If you want supplies, leave those from those companies. The rest will be available to you."

Hilde was unexpectedly easy to talk to.

However, these words also made Major Vasily notice something different.

Things may not be as simple as they seem.

Major Vasily continued to ask.

"Do you have other tasks that prevent you from joining our group?"

Hilde did not answer directly.

After thinking for a while.

He pulled the reins to stop the black horse, and Major Vasily immediately pulled the reins and stopped.

Hilde turned and looked at Major Vasily.

The red eyes seemed to examine Major Vasily's soul.

"I can join your group, but there are conditions."

"Please tell me."

"The defense line of Bregalnica must be reduced, and part of the army will be transferred to the north. I need to join the troops going north."

After the defense line was closed, some troops had to be transferred to the north to defend against the Romanian attack at any time.

This war was fought after the defeat at Bregalnica.

Bulgaria's chances of winning this war were very slim.

And not just from Serbia and Greece in the southwest.

As the deputy regiment commander, Major Vasily must be able to get some intelligence, but their Third Infantry Regiment is definitely unwilling to go. It is not just a matter of the long journey. If Romania really launches a large-scale attack, it is not something that can be changed by mobilizing a few regiments. It is very likely that they will become cannon fodder.

Now Hilde indicated the troops to go to the north.

"Can I ask why?"

"No, if I answer you, it would be unfair to the other troops."

No doubt about it.

In Major Vasily's opinion, the German officer in front of him possessed information that even they were not aware of.

The source of this information must have come from General Bello, or even General Mackensen. General Bello was only a military adviser sent by Germany, while General Mackensen was the teacher of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany. He helped Bulgaria build its military system.

This was a test for Major Vasily.

Traveling to the north is naturally extremely risky.

but.

The wind and waves get bigger.

The bigger the fish.

War is an opportunity for the middle class.

Major Vasily had to consider whether this was his only chance in life.

He took a deep breath.

"Captain, our regiment is preparing to go north."

"As the deputy leader, can you decide?"

"Please rest assured that you will not be disappointed."

"Then I will be with your troops for the time being, but I will not place my organization with your troops."

Seeing that Hilde agreed, Major Vasily clenched his fists with joy.

Although Hilde did not reveal any actual information.

Major Vasily was just guessing.

But that's why.

Major Vasily would have believed it. In fact, their regiment had no intention of going to the north. Humans are such strange creatures.

We often don't believe what others say with their own mouths, and only believe what we want to believe.

As for why the organization is not included, it is of course because Hilde does not have an organization at all.

In this era, military uniforms were allowed to be double-organized. For example, General Bello was both the commander of the German 2nd Infantry Division and the commander of the German 2nd Infantry Division.

General, also Bulgaria's military advisory general.

Through Major Vasily, Hilde can further strengthen her power.

The reason for choosing to go to the north is very simple.

The Fourth Army is stationed in Bregarnica. There are too many high-ranking officers in the Fourth Army. It's like anyone you meet here is a colonel-level officer. With Hilde's identity, it would be very easy for him to be exposed if he met a general.

They have all seen General Bello, and it is very likely that General Bello is really here.

So it was necessary to go to the north where there were fewer senior officers.

However, it is still very dangerous to face a colonel at the regimental commander level with my identity.

Hield must seek more stability.

With a military rank of colonel, it would not be difficult to meet General Bello, but asking or talking about it casually would increase the risk of being exposed.

After all, I am so beautiful.

Any normal person would be tempted to ask.

but.

Just as lieutenants would avoid provoking Hilde if possible, colonels would actively approach Hilde when they saw her.

Hilde turned around and looked at the troops behind him.

"Next, I will distribute the supplies to your original company, and then follow this lieutenant colonel to the north. You can return to your company, of course. If you want to continue to follow me, you can. I will be responsible for all of you."

This choice is still a bit difficult for the soldiers.

The Bulgarian organization would group together soldiers from the same place. Most of these soldiers were from the same hometown and were brothers who had been through life and death together.

In comparison, Hilde is a relative of a German general. She may have come to them out of curiosity, but she will stay for a while at most and will leave sooner or later.

So each of them chose to raise their hands without hesitation.

Please.

They are not fools.

Between living a life of luxury with a German lady and lying in the

trenches on the front line, anyone with a normal mind would know what to choose.

"Give me your ID."

"yes!"

Hilde took the credentials of the soldiers one by one.

Cross out their formation names.

Then write the new formation name.

Hildegard Squad.
