The following stage of their investigation put the team even more at the center of the artifact's enigma. While reading the symbols and stories, people started to reveal the image of a civilization that was greatly related to the stars a culture possessing knowledge and myths no other society from prehistoric times could boast of. He deduced from the symbols chiseled on the artifact that it could be a cult item that might have been used in religious activities associated with the sky.
One day as Clara studied difficult chapters of the inscriptions, the girl noticed that she had something insignificant she was fond of before such subtle changes in her feelings, she sensed something cold running along her spine. Some of those symbols appeared to spin on the page as if they were moving. She brushed this off as tiredness and got back to her work as the strange feeling was gone.
The look showed on her face that she was lost at some idea in the document so it was Gabriel who nudged her. "Everything okay?"
Clara who was not convinced with the proposition nodded. "Oh you know, a bit tired. This section is delicate. It feels as though the symbols are … murmuring. "
Gabriel looked intrigued. "Whispering? That is a good way of putting it. Connotations, or signs as they are often called, can bear a lot of significance, especially in connoted systems".
Clara looked at him indifferently, but what Gabriel said remained with her for a while. Forcing the artifact to open a path to its inner mysteries the lab filled with tension and was heavy with signs that the artifact was alive and responsive to their presence.
They walked back to the rented house nonchalantly and as Ethan was walking, he paused, scrutinizing a small shop that was a bookstore. "Hold on," he said with tones of surprise in his voice. It was such a perfect day today I think I saw something interesting in that bookstore the other day let's go and check it out.
The others entered behind him and it smelled of old books and turning pages. The store was small and warm with many book shelves stacked with old and large books. As they shopped, Ethan went to a shallow corner behind the display case, and taking a thick volume under his left arm, wiped its cover free of dust.
He pointed to the book: "Here it is." "I believe that it is a reader containing myths and legends of this area collected a long time ago," he said, "I wanted to find out if there was something useful in our study on that book".
Gabriel took the book from her and started turning the pages. "This is interesting. Maybe some of those stories relate to the symbols in the artifact. It'd help to know more about them. "
Clara was filled with warmth inside her stomach and breast. "Thank God it's almost over anyway, let's take it back to the house and see what we can find."
They returned to the house and sat around the living room all focused on the book. While going through the myths, they were able to ascertain several of the references to celestial phenomena and the various rituals with the depiction as seen on the artifact. For Clara, one story was the most sensational, and made a note of it. It told a story of an artifact, which some people held in high esteem as it was used only during special alignments of the stars.
"This sounds like what we're dealing with," Clara said in amazement. The artifact could be a representation of the aforementioned sacred object, or it could be the actual object, itself.
Leo nodded thus, as the point started sinking deep into his mind. "If that is a fact, then they are not only a historic piece of evidence but their religious symbol." That could also be why the symbols are profound and many-leveled.
When they went on to the pedigree analysis they felt quite uncomfortable as they unveiled their results. What filled the air was that fuzzy feeling of reverence or on the boundary of something that would amaze them. Nonetheless, it still did not ring true to Clara, the pitch-perfect complete and she felt that there was still another layer to the story that was yet to be unfolded.
That night while in bed, Clara could not help but think of the artifacts and pictures they read from the books. It was wonderful when she realized that they were handling something sacred, and it felt like she had the greatest responsibility. She however pondered on what other secret the artifact had, and whether it could reveal anything else that could be of importance on the part and about the past age.
It was fragrance with the scent of a beautiful woman, it swayed gently from side to side accompanied by the sound of a gentle knock on the door. Surprised she woke up, and gasping she asked, "Who is it?"
'It's Gabriel,' said the soft voice of Joshua. "Can I come in?"
Clara didn't answer for a minute and then she slowly rose from her chair opening the door. Gabriel just stared, his expressions showing that he was disturbed. "Sorry to disturb you," he murmured. >'Nevertheless, I slept, or at least tried to sleep, too; there is something in all this that is troubling me.
Clara signaled to him to join her and got onto the bed. "Anything on your mind?" She said in a gentle tone feeling that he was tensed.
Gabriel felt that his stomach was sinking into his boots and took a deep breath. "It's just…" She paused, looking troubled. "I get the feeling there is something I am not seeing, we are not seeing – these symbols and the stories we have just read in that book, all feel so personal, so close, It is not just the intellectual curiosity anymore. "
Clara then nodded her head in agreement knowing how he felt. 'I understand that, I have had the same feeling my friend, it is as if the artifact has more to tell us, but we are missing something. "
For several moments they just remained there in their chairs with the gravity of the facts they'd just learnt overwhelming them. Then, Gabriel began again, and the tone of his voice was resolute or rather restrained determination. Regardless of what it is, we have to push on further we are standing on the precipice of something grand, and I can sense it.
Again Clara could not help but smile out of sheer delight at the sincerity of the young man. "Right. And no matter what we will find the solution, myself and you included. "
When Gabriel went out and Clara got back to bed, she was overwhelmed by a strange expectation and tense eagerness. The path they were on was filled with question marks though the air around it was heavy with hints of hope. She realized the days that followed would be decisive and that they must be ready for whatever they might discover.
Next, to her surprise, she sees symbols from the artifact rolling in front of her eyes which are telling her stories and bidding her to discover those stories.
