Mark's fingers went white as he grabbed the edge of his desk. His eyes narrowed as his phone buzzed with the most recent information from his team.

Once again, Joan had slipped their way. His men had followed her to the little village, but she had disappeared entirely when they arrived.

No trains, no aircraft, nothing to track. How could she manage to escape?

With his jaw tightened and his head buzzing with ideas to step up his quest, he moved away from the window.

He can't let her go because of the revenge he needs to fulfill and the feelings she evokes in him. In addition, he was aware that Joan must be working with someone.

She needed assistance from someone with skills and connections since this escape was far too tidy for one person to handle alone.

When he discovered who it was, he vowed not to let that individual go unharmed.
