Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

I looked at him, he looked at me, his sky-blue eyes reflecting my surprise face as I looked at him in surprise. My mouth agape, my hands slacken at my side as i stared at him.

Use your words, I said to myself but i couldn't speak. I couldn't find my voice.

He lifted me up to stand on my own two feet which suddenly felt wobbly.

"I...I..." gosh, I was embarrassed.

I couldn't meet his eyes, looking at everywhere but him. He cocked his head to look at my face, i noticed his smirk as he watched me. I quickly looked away.

He chuckled, "Why are you shy, Kiara." The way my name rolled off his lips like caramel pouring, made goosebumps appear on my skin.

"It's just a surprise, I didn't expect to see you here," Wait, what was wrong with me, why was I acting shy like some little girl. I raised my head up to look at him, meeting that handsome face. "Unless you are stalking me. Did you miss me much?"

He laughed, "Yes I did." He walked forward, standing a few feet from me his hands tucked in his pant pocket. "You left without saying goodbye. If you did that to get me intrigued, I have to say your plan is working perfectly my dear."

I scoffed, flipping my hair over my shoulder. "The audacity. First," i raised a finger to his face, "I am not your dear. Secondly, the world doesn't revolve around you. You helped me at that moment, nothing else. It wasn't to keep you intrigued, hell I don't want your attention. Its the last thing on my mind. So, if you have any interest on me, get rid of it. Also, I don't know what you are doing here and I don't care. Just ignore me."

I took a deep breath after saying more than I expected, he looked surprised and that was enough to make me smile. I forgot that others were there, their jaw were dropped. I gave them a small smile and walked off.

I frowned as I walked away, was I too harsh? I turned around to look at him, he had turned, staring at me with desire in his eyes.

It was desire or maybe I was reading too much into it.

I shook my head; I hope not to run into him again.

"Creep." I murmured.

Vincent frowned, when he saw his boss smiling at the dark haired lady with intrigued. He couldn't help but frown, how can this man look so good like that? If it was him, he would have looked like some creep.

He cleared his throat and called out, "Mr. Lincoln."

Jason turned his head to look at him, finally remembering where he was. In the hallway filled with employees who were all looking at him in shock.

He swept his cold gaze over the employees, who quickly cleared their throats and started acting busy.

Jason approached the girl who printed ID for new employees and asked, "That lady of just now, what is she doing here."

The girl looked at Jason as if she was going to pee herself, making Jason frown. "Can't you speak?"

"N-n-o...Y—es?"

Vincent wanted to smack his head. He looked at Jason countenance and hoped that he doesn't get angry. Jason turned to Vincent with a raised eyebrow.

Vincent chuckled lightly and turned to the girl, he looked at the card around her neck, "Um, miss...Ivory, the boss wants information on the lady of just now."

Ivory chuckled nervously, "Um...should I...um email it to you sir?"

Vincent smacked his head.

To his surprise, Jason didn't become angry and said, "Send her information to me. But for now, i need her name and position here."

Ivory seemed surprised at the calm way Jason replied to her, and he gave a little smile that made her act skipped a bit. Her cheeks tainted a bit as she nodded, "Her name is Kiara Williams. She is Tech assistant manager, the manager would be leaving soon, so she would be taking over from him."

Jason nodded, absentminded. He walked away from where he stood. Kiara Williams and an employee here. He didn't believe in fate but damn, this was starting to look like one.

How would she react when she finds out he was her boss.

I opened the door to my new office, amazed by the interior. Light blue painted walls, a floor to ceiling window that viewed the city outside. I was sure it would look beautiful at night. There was a coffee maker, two chairs. One for the main manager and i guess the other was for me.

Sofa, a little coffee table at the middle. A flat screen tv and wow, a personal bathroom. I could feel my eyes were sweating, but I didn't want to cry out.

I wanted to cry within me like the winner that i have become. Never in my days would i have expected my qualifications would actually be able to lead me to manager positions. I had always limited myself for Gabriel, to be his perfect soft wife. To focus more on the kids and pregnancy. For his mother to finally look at me and feel glad that his son picked a good wife.

Yet all that down the drain, for a girl that was softer than me, well acted softer, tall, beautiful, looked like a Victoria secret model. Every wife worse nightmare and my best friend. But here i am, realizing my full potential. My hair well prepped, my clothes well ironed, I was starting to look like the girl he made abandon her life for him.

I sniffed, patting myself on the shoulder. "Good job, Kiara, good job."

"Do you always talk to yourself?"

I squeaked, turning around to face an olive-skinned man, with a buzz cut, he was wearing a cream-coloured blazer, leaning against the door with a smile. He looked friendly,

I smiled back, "Only on days when i feel good about myself."

He chuckled, his voice deep as he walked into the room, "You must be Miss Williams."

"Oh please, call me Kiara."

He reached out his hand and I couldn't' help but notice the wedding ring on his finger, "Nice to meet you Kiara, I am Jospeh Wright, but call me Jo."

I nodded. "Nice to meet you as well."

We shake hands, I wanted to pull back, but he refused to let my hand go, making me chuckle and then giving a light frown.

We laughed and he pulled back, "Apologies. I just didn't expect my assistant manager to be this beautiful."

So, he is the manager, I looked at his finger again, and notice the wedding ring. He noticed me staring and laughed, he does seem to laugh a lot.

"Don't be deceived by this, it's just a way to lie and get away from this job. Got married and leaving, its the best way to leave a blood sucking leech like this company."

He took off his blazer, i turned to look at him as he walked to hang it. "Blood sucking?" I couldn't help but ask as I knew, JLC was one of the big companies here in Bristol, they paid their employees well, name and salary is good at headquarters compared to the subsidiaries. I never did see it as a bloodsucker.

"Oh, you are new, here at the headquarters, we must deal with the devil aka the chairman. It's not the best place to be if you want to start a family. Coffee?"

"No, i am fine, thanks."

I walked towards my side of the desk that was beside his, dropping my bag.

"I guess you are a family man then, already have plans for it."

Jo shook his head, "Not yet. But i do need a break, you don't get holidays here, are you sure you don't want coffee? It would help big time."

"I am not really a coffee person, but what do you mean it would be a head start?"

"Well, we have a meeting with the devil this morning and trust me, you can't survive."

Jessica tapped her heels frantically on the white marble floor as she sat cross leg, biting her lips.

She had been heating everyone talk about the new assistant tech manager who was fashionable, talking about her designer clothes. Her luscious hair and the beauty she were with those curvy hips, round chest and face that looked like an angel. Jessica wasn't happy, she had made sure to make her dim her shine, but suddenly she had disappeared from the hotel room that day and all off a sudden she was a manager.

How? She didn't even finish university, she also was sloppy, tiring and smells due to the diabetic injury, so how did all that change after she disappeared for two months?

The office door opened, and Gabriel came in. Her heart skips a beat, she had worked so hard to seduce this man, she just hope she won't be losing him soon. No, she can't. Not before she gets what she wants.

She pushed her skirt up to show her hips as she stood up, "Gabriel?"

She called out, Gabriel looked at her and sighed. He didn't look at her hips or the opened top button of her white blouse. Instead, he looked at the ceiling and said, "Do you...think she has gone back to the Williams family?"
