Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

I excused myself and dragged a chair that was inside the room and sat beside him while he was still on his bed.

Maya did the same thing as me.

"How is your fractured leg?" I asked.

"Don't worry about it, it is a minor fracture that could heal in two weeks," he responded with another bright smile on his face.

While I was talking to Justin, Maya squeezed my left hand, when I turned towards her, I realized how nervous she was in front of Justin and that she was hinting me to introduce her to him.

I got carried away talking to Justin, I almost forgot that I had come inside the room with Maya.

That time I said to Justin, "This is Maya, my best friend and also my roommate."

Maya then nervously raised one of her hands and said hi to Justin, he then tilted his face towards her. "Thank you for escorting your friend to visit me."

As Justin started speaking to Maya, she immediately tilted her head down, breaking the little eye contact that just formed between them.

Her shy instinct where already kicking in before their conversation even started. In a low yet cute voice, Maya started talking to Justin with her gaze still looking at the ground.

"Thank you for saving my best friend, I am grateful to you for what you did last night, risking your own life to save a stranger."

"It is okay," Justin replied, "saving a human life when you get the chance to, is a natural thing every human being would do."

I proceeded to reach into the bag Maya was holding and brought out the phone charger Justin asked for, I handed it over to him, and Justin collected it while thanking me again.

He took his phone and connected it to the charger, when he looked for the socket to plug in the charger, he saw that the socket was about half a meter from his bed, he would have to get up to plug the charger to electricity.

I observed the same thing and without even asking, I collected the charger from Justin and plugged it into the socket. I then returned to my seat and sat down.

Looking directly at Justin I said "Thank you once again for saving me, without your help, I would probably be dead right now.

"Just like you asked me to buy stuff for you yesterday, in my bag I have toiletries and other stuff in it. If you do not mind, I have brought canned orange juice with me, I was hoping that if you drink a bunch of the juice, it would help speed up your recovery."

Justin casually collected the two bags from me and placed them on the table to his left side. He then turned back towards me.

"I can't thank you enough for your help today. You are a lifesaver," he said.

At that moment, I discovered that Justin smiled a lot in a warm and friendly way that made me feel comfortable. The smiles I kept seeing on his face made me feel at ease, even though we were strangers who had just met yesterday.

A strange thought crossed my mind that time.

I felt that perhaps if Justin is the one destined for me by the Universe, I would not mind spending the rest of my days with a kind guy like him.

As my thoughts continued to have an even stronger grip on me, I noticed something, I noticed how naive I was to think that I could be in a relationship with a guy I just met, how I was so willing to commit my eternity to a man that shared only a few smiles and kind words with me.

Inside my head, I was laughing at my naive heart that is yearning for nothing but true love, even if it is from a guy I don't even know.

However, I had a small wish at that time, that if a kind guy like him could wipe away the memories of Yamada that are still lingering in my head, I would be more than happy to fall in love with him.

The reality kicked in as my fantasies began to take over my thoughts.

I had spent a lot of time in the clinic room together with Maya and it was finally time for us to leave, I had given Justin what he asked for, his friends would soon wake up and learn what had happened to him, in a matter of hours, I would no longer have any reason to see Justin again.

We are not in the same section of the University, nor do we have any lectures in common, I would be a stranger to him once again, as soon as I leave the clinic room.

I tab Maya by the shoulder hinting to her it was time for us to leave, we both stood up as we were about to leave.

At that time I said to Justin, "I know I have said it so many times already but I am going to say it one more time, thank you Justin for saving my life and goodbye".

As I and Maya walked towards the exit of the room, I was having heated thoughts, I was happy that Justin saved my life but at the same time, a part of me wished that this would not be the last time I would see him.

Within seconds after we started walking, Maya who was ahead of me had already reached the door, seconds after her, I also reached the door handle.

At that time, while holding the door handle, I turned around to look at Justin one more time, before I disappear from his presence and possibly never see him again.

As I was about to take my first step outside the clinic room, Justin suddenly called out my name, with lightning speed, I turned around and faced him.

"Janna, I have already asked too much from you, but if you do not mind, would you help me get fresh fruits tomorrow, like apples and oranges. The doctor has advised me to take in a more healthy diet, to help me recover faster."

Justin's words were like a revelation to me that I have been waiting to hear, an excuse that would allow me to see him one more time.

"I would be happy to help," I nodded, "I would visit the local supermarket immediately after my morning lectures to get the fruits."

I quickly ran out of the clinic room after I finished responding to Justin's request, I did not want him to catch a glimpse of my red face as I was beginning to blush slightly.

I caught up to Maya immediately after I got out of the clinic room.

Both of us went straight to the campus cafeteria to order breakfast, we have not yet eaten our breakfast.

At the small round table in the open area of the cafeteria, me and Maya sat down to eat our breakfast. while we were eating, I said to Maya.

"Justin have asked me to get him some fresh fruits tomorrow, I am planning to immediately visit the nearby supermarket to get the items for him after my morning lectures."

This time around Maya did not offer to come along with me, so I was left with no choice but to visit him all alone, deep inside of me, that is what I wanted, but at the same time, I am not comfortable with myself getting my hopes high that maybe,-maybe Justin would be the one for me.
