The system suddenly issued a warning, reminding Sarah that she was currently in an abyss cave filled with menacing monsters. She had the option to either level up or run away.
But then, the system mentioned a special skill available to her. "Emergency skill: Auto battle mode," it said. Sarah pondered over the words before her. Was this some kind of combat skill that allowed the system to take over her body and fight autonomously?
Sarah was unsure of the implications of activating such a skill. Would she lose all control of her body? Would the system make decisions that she disagreed with? But as she looked at her weak stats and contemplated the dangers of the cave, she knew that she had little choice.
With a deep breath, she activated the Emergency skill: Auto Battle mode.
The screen in front of Sarah changed once again to display information about the Emergency skill: Auto Battle mode.
The description read:
"Emergency skill: Auto Battle mode is a special ability that allows the system to take over control of the user's body in dire situations. In this mode, the system will act autonomously, fighting on behalf of the user and making decisions based on the optimal combat strategy. The user will remain unconscious while the system takes control."
Sarah's body stood still, lifeless and expressionless, as the system took control. In the span of 20 tense minutes, the system efficiently and ruthlessly defeated 50 Rock wolfs that roamed the cave, gaining level and experience at an alarming rate.
When Sarah's mind returned to her body, she found herself suddenly aware of her surroundings once more. She looked at her stats, surprised to find that she had leveled up to an impressive 25.
As Sarah's consciousness returned, she felt a sudden surge of pain in her muscles. The system had informed her that using the auto battle mode would likely lead to muscle injuries, and now she was experiencing the consequences firsthand.
Clutching her arms and legs in pain, Sarah struggled to catch her breath. The auto battle mode had seemed like the only option in the heat of the moment, but now she was paying the price for her decision.
Sarah's eyes darted back to the system screen as she read through the full description of the auto battling mode.
"Emergency skill: Auto Battle mode is a special ability that allows the system to take over control of the user's body in dire situations," it read. "In this mode, the system will act autonomously, fighting on behalf of the user and making decisions based on the optimal combat strategy. The user will remain unconscious while the system takes control.
"However," the screen added, "there are drawbacks to using this mode. Using it can lead to muscle injuries and fatigue."
"3 skills have been unlocked"
regeneration: low grade
mana drain: low grade
Weapon mastery: low grade
As Sarah scanned the system's explanation, she also caught sight of a mention of a time limit.
"Auto Battle mode can only be used for a limited amount of time," the screen stated. "The time limit for this mode is 20 minutes."
Sarah realized that time constraint was a major drawback of this ability. She couldn't rely on it indefinitely, and she would have to use it strategically in the future.
Sarah's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts as she conversed with the system. Its casual tone and somewhat limited knowledge were beginning to irritate her.
"System," she inquired, "do you know where I am?"
The system's response was flippant and lacking in insight. "How do I know," it replied. Sarah's irritation grew, and she retorted, "Are you that useless?"
The system continued its nonchalant attitude, stating that it was merely a companion, not a source of information. Frustrated but determined, Sarah looked around and spotted a nearby town filled with demi-humans.
The system then informed her that the town was called Frenria Town, and she could register as an adventurer there. Sarah was disappointed and annoyed by the system's delayed revelation.
"If you knew," she said with an irritated tone, "why didn't you tell me earlier?"
The system responded with a flat answer, stating that it only provided information it had evaluated and that Sarah hadn't asked for the town's location.
Sarah sighed, her frustration building, but she forced a smile and continued towards Frenria Town, determined to register as an adventurer.
