"Eve. So, are you an agent?" Eve pointed at herself and briefly introduced herself, looking at Edgar through the rearview mirror.
Edgar glanced at Anson, "Edgar." After a slight hesitation, he told the truth, "Temporary agent. We haven't signed a contract yet."
Eve wasn't surprised. "Oh, so just like me, you're trying to catch this big fish and see if it could be a breakthrough for our résumés?"
Is she really that straightforward?
Before Edgar could respond, Anson had already chuckled, "Are you both so sure that I'm a big fish?"
Anson thought Eve might compliment him in response, but unexpectedly, she said, "No, of course not. I'm casting a wide net right now; it's always worth a try. I believe you have potential. Hey, Darren Starr vouched for you, and your debut has already earned an Emmy nomination. I think it's worth seeing what happens."
Eve glanced at the rearview mirror again.
"Besides, I think that face is worth gambling on."
Ha!
Anson laughed heartily, "Thank you."
Eve seemed to notice Edgar's gaze, shrugged, and looked at Anson through the rearview mirror again. "Don't get me wrong, I don't date clients. Of course, if it's just a quickie in the restroom, I might consider it, but only after your 18th birthday."
Anson's eyes were full of laughter. He turned to Edgar, "Captain, you've met your match now."
His demeanor and tone suggested that Edgar, not Anson, had just been teased.
Edgar finally responded, "I'm not worried. If anything leaks, it's her job on the line, not mine. I trust she knows how to handle her own mess, or else she'll be the one getting eliminated."
The car stopped at a red light.
Eve simply turned around, "There's no need to say 'she' in every sentence; you can say 'you.' I'm right here. Trust me, my skin is thicker than you think."
After saying this, Eve gave a smile that didn't reach her eyes, then turned back around, her smile immediately disappearing. "So, Edgar, what's the plan?"
"I mean, for this Emmy Awards, do you have any plans? What do you hope to achieve? Do we need to create any news or get any coverage?"
"Give me something so I can start plotting some schemes."
Edgar looked at Anson—
Originally, Edgar hadn't planned to attend the Emmy Awards ceremony, which is why he suggested Anson find a publicist. But if they signed a management contract, that would be different. As Eve mentioned, attending such an important event requires a strategy.
After all, Anson is a newcomer, and every exposure opportunity is valuable.
Now that Eve had spoken, Edgar couldn't help but be eager to get involved.
Anson spread his hands, "I'm willing to listen to professional advice."
Edgar understood, quickly turning to Eve, "Actually, we are auditioning for a role, an important one. We need exposure."
The corners of Eve's mouth lifted slightly. "Interesting. I'm listening."
...
Anson and the others didn't go home but instead went directly to Beverly Hills Tailoring and Design—
Despite its ordinary name, this is a famous high-end bespoke clothing store in Hollywood, providing custom-tailored suits, evening gowns, and bespoke tailoring services.
Generally, when actors attend awards ceremonies or film festivals and choose evening gowns, there are two main options:
The first option is brand sponsorship. In most cases, these actors are brand ambassadors, and the brand will specially design evening gowns for them, leveraging such platforms to achieve a win-win.
The second option is choosing their own attire.
Here, there are two choices: one is to collaborate with a designer, often someone outside of the brand system who may be just starting out or establishing a personal brand.
The other is to work with a high-end bespoke clothing store. These stores will have access to a large number of brand-collaborated evening gowns for actors to choose from—the difference from the first option is that these gowns are not specially designed for the actor; then the clothing store modifies them based on individual needs.
Of course, occasionally, there are special cases where people go to a high-end bespoke clothing store to have an evening gown custom-made based on their preferences, but this is rare since custom-made evening gowns are a test of design and taste.
---
Beverly Hills Tailoring and Design is exactly such a store, offering the latter services.
They collaborate with numerous top brands, often securing more designs and styles from the latest season. At the same time, they can also create high-end bespoke evening gowns, satisfying the desire of actors to stand out with something unique.
However, the variety is still more focused on women's attire. Men's suits and shirts have become a norm, with only a few rare exceptions breaking away from tradition.
Nevertheless, there are still differences between one suit and another. Finding creativity within the framework of traditional suits and showcasing personal charm—
This, too, is an art.
Two hours, nine suits, and now Anson finally understands why brides and grooms always say that getting married is actually a physical workout.
Simply putting on clothes, taking them off, and putting them on again—this repetitive cycle tests both physical strength and stamina.
Edgar admitted he might not have much of a fashion sense and couldn't accurately distinguish the differences, but, "Eve, are you sure we need to continue?"
Eve glanced at Edgar.
Edgar explained, "I mean, they all look good. Anson looks great in all of them, don't you think?"
Eve pursed her lips. Edgar thought she was going to argue but was surprised when she said, "Yes, you're right. Anson has an excellent physique and proportions, a natural clothes hanger, and since fashion is always completed with a face, these suits do have different flavors on him."
Edgar, "But?"
Eve chuckled, "But, we're not looking for ordinary, normal, forgettable, right? Otherwise, putting such a face and body to waste would be a crime, and that would bring divine punishment. Edgar, you wouldn't want the gods of fashion to cast down their wrath, would you?"
Edgar blinked: How should he respond to that? "Who are the gods of fashion?"
Eve, "Anna Wintour."
Edgar: ...
Eve had to explain, "Although the Emmys don't have as much attention as the Oscars or Golden Globes, the fashion world still pays attention. If Anson can stand out and catch Anna Wintour's eye, even if it's just for a moment, it would be good for him."
Thinking for a moment.
Eve continued, "Before today, I've seen Anson's photos, including ones in 'GQ' and those taken by reporters outside the studio."
"All along, his style has been more sunny, suave, and handsome, fully expressing his personal charisma. This is also the first impression we get when we see Anson."
Edgar interjected, "Isn't that good? Doesn't that mean Anson already has a label?"
Eve nodded, "Yes, for a newcomer, having a label is the first step, a very valuable breakthrough, but we're now looking for more than that, don't you think?"
End of the fifth chapter.
