Chapter 26 - Year 1996 : Revelation and Consequences (Chapter 4)

Kent's House

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden light over the Kent farm, Clark and his parents returned to the farmhouse after a day filled with extraordinary discoveries. The events in the storm cellar, where they had uncovered the secrets of Clark's Kryptonian heritage, impact heavily on Jonathan and Martha Kent, but they were also filled with a renewed sense of hope. Little did they know that their son was about to bring them even more miracles.

After ensuring that Krypto was settled in the barn, resting peacefully after his long journey, Clark quietly led his parents into the house. His mind was set on using the advanced Kryptonian medical devices he had retrieved from Krypto's pod, determined to help his parents in ways that modern Earth medicine could not.

In the living room, the soft glow of the fireplace bathed the room in a comforting warmth. Martha and Jonathan sat together on the couch, their expressions a mix of exhaustion and curiosity. They had always known there was something special about their son, but today had brought those feelings to an entirely new level.

"Mom, Dad, there's something I want to do for you," Clark began. "I found something in Krypto's pod—something that can help with your health."

Jonathan looked at his son with a furrowed brow. "Clark, what do you mean? We're fine, son."

But Clark shook his head gently. "You've both been working so hard for so long, and I know there are things you don't talk about, things that have been weighing on you. Let me help."

Martha exchanged a glance with Jonathan, her concern evident. "Clark, what is it you found?"

Clark pulled out the small, sleek device he had retrieved from Krypto's pod. It was unlike anything his parents had ever seen—compact and elegant, with a faint blue glow emanating from its core. He explained that it was a Kryptonian medical device, capable of diagnosing and treating a wide range of ailments with unparalleled precision.

"Mild cancer and infertility?" Martha's voice trembled as she repeated the words Clark had said earlier. She had never mentioned these issues to Clark, not wanting to burden him with her concerns. But now, hearing them spoken aloud, she realized the truth in his words.

"And Dad," Clark continued, turning to Jonathan, "you've been dealing with back pain and something more serious—hidden heart disease. This device can help with that, too."

Jonathan looked at Clark with a mixture of disbelief and hope. "Clark, are you sure? This… this is incredible."

Clark smiled, a warm, reassuring smile that melted away the tension in the room. "I'm sure, Dad. Please, let me do this."

With a nod from his parents, Clark activated the device. The soft hum of the technology filled the room, and a beam of light scanned over Jonathan and Martha, its glow pulsing gently as it worked. The device quickly identified and began to treat the ailments that had plagued them in silence.

Martha closed her eyes as a soothing warmth flowed through her body, bringing with it a wave of healing and renewal. For the first time in years, the worries that had quietly weighed on her mind began to fade. Jonathan also felt the tightness release from his back, the persistent ache he had learned to live with disappearing. The previously undetected heart condition was treated, leaving him feeling rejuvenated and energized in a way he hadn't experienced in years.

As the device completed its work, the room fell into a peaceful silence. Clark deactivated the device, his heart swelling with gratitude for the advanced technology that had allowed him to help his parents in ways he never could have imagined.

Martha opened her eyes, tears welling up as she looked at her son. "Clark… I don't know what to say. This… this is a miracle."

Jonathan reached out, placing a hand on Clark's shoulder, his voice thick with emotion. "You've given us more than we could ever ask for, son. You've given us a future."

Clark felt a surge of warmth and love as he embraced his parents, the three of them sharing a moment of quiet joy and relief. For Clark, this was more than just a technological marvel—it was a way to give back to the people who had given him everything, who had raised him with love and care.

The burdens Martha and Jonathan had carried for so long were finally lifted, replaced by renewed hope and possibility. As they sat together in the quiet comfort of their home, they knew that no matter what lay ahead, they would face it together, as a family.

Outside, the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, their light shining down on the Kent farm, a symbol of the bright future that now awaited them.

---

As the warm glow from the fireplace flickered across the living room. Jonathan and Martha Kent sat on the couch, still processing the incredible healing Clark had just performed. Clark stood before them, his posture confident yet humble.

"Mom, Dad," Clark began, his voice steady but filled with purpose, "there's something I've been thinking about—something I want to do that could change our lives and the lives of everyone in Smallville. But before I start working on it, I need to share it with you."

Jonathan exchanged a curious glance with Martha before turning back to Clark. "What do you mean, son?"

Clark took a deep breath, activating the simulation function with a thought, careful not to reveal too much about the technology's origins. Instantly, the familiar walls of the Kent living room dissolved, replaced by a panoramic view of Smallville from above. The landscape stretched out beneath them, showing the town's farmland and fields in vivid detail.

"This is what I've been planning," Clark explained as the simulation unfolded. The land below them began to transform, the fields once sparse and struggling now flourishing with life. Lush, green crops stretched as far as the eye could see, swaying gently in the breeze. The orchards were heavy with ripe fruit, and the pastures teemed with healthy livestock.

Martha gasped softly as she watched the transformation. "Clark… this is incredible. How do you plan to do this?"

Clark smiled, sensing his mother's amazement. "I've been studying advanced agricultural methods—combining what I've learned from different sources to develop a technique that enhances the soil, adding nutrients and minerals that maximize its potential without harming it. This isn't just about increasing our yield—it's about ensuring that our farm, and all the farms around us, can thrive sustainably for generations."

The simulation zoomed in to show a microscopic view of the soil, revealing how Clark's proposed techniques would enrich it. Tiny, glowing particles of nutrients integrated seamlessly with the earth, promoting healthy plant growth and improving the quality of the produce.

Jonathan watched in awe as the simulation continued, now shifting to show the economic impact these improvements could have. Smallville's economy began to flourish as a result of the abundant harvests. New businesses opened, and the town buzzed with activity, as the surplus of crops brought prosperity to every farmer in the area.

"This is what I want to do for Smallville," Clark continued. "I haven't started yet, but I've been thinking about how we can make it work. I want to share this knowledge with the other farmers, so they can recover from the hard times we've all faced."

Martha nodded, her eyes misty with emotion. "You've always had such a big heart, Clark. This… this is beyond anything we could have dreamed of."

Clark's smile widened, but he wasn't finished. The simulation shifted again, this time to a series of scenarios showing potential threats to their newfound prosperity. The idyllic landscape darkened as storms gathered, floods threatened, and intruders loomed.

"But I know that with great success comes great risk," Clark said, his tone serious. "There are always going to be threats, whether they come from natural disasters or from people who might want to take advantage of us. That's why I've also been planning safety measures to protect what we'll build here."

The simulation displayed the protection systems Clark had devised, carefully presenting them as a combination of advanced security practices and innovative technology. Early warning systems detected approaching storms, automated defenses repelled potential attackers, and barriers sprang up to safeguard the crops and buildings.

Martha and Jonathan watched as the simulation played out different scenarios—floods, droughts, even sabotage by those who might seek to exploit their success. In each case, the safeguards Clark had envisioned came into play, ensuring that the farm and the town remained protected.

Jonathan nodded appreciatively. "You've thought of everything, haven't you, Clark?"

"I've tried to," Clark replied, his voice filled with determination. "I want to make sure that what we build here lasts, no matter what comes our way. But there's more I need to tell you."

The simulation transitioned once more, but this time it showed the familiar fields of Smallville as they had been the previous year. The crops were struggling, the yields low—a stark contrast to the flourishing fields shown earlier.

"I didn't want to worry you, but last year, things were worse than they seemed," Clark began, his tone gentle yet serious. "The crop yield was lower than expected, and many of the farmers were struggling. I… I couldn't just stand by and watch that happen."

Martha and Jonathan looked at Clark, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity.

"So, I used what I could to help," Clark continued. "I found ways to improve the soil and encourage growth—just enough to make a difference. I didn't realize it at the time, but it seems that my actions unknowingly disrupted someone else's plans. Lionel Luthor had been trying to buy up land from struggling farmers, and when the yields suddenly improved, his plans fell apart."

Martha's eyes widened in realization. "Clark, you did that? You helped save those farms?"

Clark nodded. "I did what I could. I didn't want anyone to lose their land. I know how important it is to the people here, just like it is to us."

Jonathan leaned back, absorbing the weight of Clark's words. "You've already done so much, son. And now you're planning even more?"

Clark nodded, his eyes filled with resolve. "I want to make sure that this community thrives, that no one has to worry about losing their livelihood. But I also know that there are bigger challenges ahead, which is why I've been thinking long-term."

The simulation transitioned one final time, taking the Kents far beyond Earth. They found themselves hovering above the surface of Mars, its barren, red landscape stretching out below. As they watched, the simulation showed the gradual transformation of the planet—massive machines releasing greenhouse gases, warming the atmosphere, while specially designed plants began to take root, converting carbon dioxide into oxygen.

"This… this is Mars," Martha whispered, her voice filled with awe.

Clark nodded. "It is. And this is part of my long-term plan. With the right knowledge and resources, we can start laying the groundwork to terraform Mars. It's a process that will take years, maybe even decades, but it's possible. We can create a new world—a place where humanity can thrive, no matter what happens here on Earth."

He paused for a moment before continuing. "But there's another reason for this plan, one that's more personal. I've been thinking about the future—about how I'm going to live my life as Clark Kent while also using my abilities to help the world. If I can establish a presence on Mars, it could serve as a way to explain where Superman is, so people don't start questioning if he has another identity here on Earth."

Martha's expression softened with understanding. "You mean, by having Superman be seen on Mars, people won't suspect that he's living a normal life here as Clark."

"Exactly," Clark confirmed. "If the world believes that Superman is off-planet, helping to create a new home for humanity, it would take the focus off of Smallville and make it easier to keep my identity as Clark Kent a secret. It's a way to protect both my life here and my ability to help others."

Jonathan was silent for a moment, absorbing the magnitude of what Clark was proposing. "Clark, you're talking about creating a new world and protecting your identity at the same time. That's… that's something incredible. But are you sure it's safe?"

Clark gave a reassuring nod. "I've thought about that too, Dad. Every step of the way, safety comes first. I wouldn't move forward with anything unless I was certain it wouldn't put anyone at risk. That's why I'm bringing this to you now—because I want you to be part of it. I want us to do this together, as a family."

Martha reached out, placing a hand on Clark's arm. "You've always been special, Clark, but this… this is beyond anything we could have imagined. Of course, we'll support you. We're with you, every step of the way."

Jonathan nodded in agreement, his voice filled with pride. "You've got our full backing, son. Whatever you need, we'll be there to help."

As the simulation faded and the living room returned to its familiar warmth, Clark felt a surge of gratitude and love for his parents. He had always known they would stand by him, but hearing their words made all the difference. With their support, he knew that his plans—no matter how ambitious—were within reach.
