**** DAMON'S POV
"Hey man, how are you faring?"
"I'm good." My voice was chirpy, which I'm sure left him confused.
"Come on man, I know you're strong and all that, but these latest tabloids had nothing good to say about you. They basically left you in the trash. You need someone to vent out to. Come on man, I'm ready to hear you out."
"Ha… ha… And you believe you're that person?" I laughed at his face
"I believe I am, man. Why hurt my feelings?" He feigned a hurt sob, and they both laughed.
"I'm happy to hear your laugh this morning man. I've been worried like a grandma worried about her grandson."
"Sorry to worry you, grandma. But your grandson is okay." I assured him and faked a bow from my own end.
"How did it go with Hela?"
"Not good, man. She ran off crying and I had to take her back home. Grandma might give me a earful, when I got to her today." I say to him as I headed to the shower.
"She sure will." He condescended.
"What are you doing?" He must have noticed I was far away.
"Multitasking. I'm seeing grandma in 40 minutes time." I shouted above the rush of waters.
"Gross man. You should have ended the call." He berated.
"But I was not done talking to you." I was out of the bathroom and drying my body with a towel.
"What do you think I should do about her? I mean Hela. I have to get her to work things out with me." I grumbled as I wore my clothe.
"Why not come, clean to her. Offer her a percentage of your inheritance if she agrees to marry you. She will sure fall for it. Girls are materialistic."
"Really? Are you sure?" I doubt that would work for someone like Hela, because she did not strike me as someone who is materialistic.
"I don't know man. I don't think that will work on her. I mean, she cut her father off immediately he brought it up." I rehashed the event of that night to him and he just laughed it off.
"I can assure you that she was just playing hard to get. I've done some checks on her and I've found out some few things. Let's do it this way." His voice went down a notch as he filled me in on his plan.
"How is that for a plan? She will have no other option than to succumb." He assured me excitedly and I felt a little lighter, though the thought of acting this out got me uneasy the next minute, but I decided not to.
"If this works out, I'll bow to you three times." I promised as I headed out the door.
"Make sure you apologize properly to grandma when you get to her." he said and end the call.
I took the elevator down to the parking lot, humming as I was going. I was in high spirits.
This plan might just be what I need to get my inheritance. There is no one I know that can resist money, or so I believe.
I got to the parking lot and strolled to where my Maybech S-class was parked.
"Hello, my baby." I greeted my car as I blew off invisible dust from it.
"Let's make today memorable." I said to her as I got into her and inhaled her scent.
I turned the ignition, turned on the radio, tuned to my favourite channel and drove out of the car park.
Then I saw her.
The girl that ruined my night with Hela. She was the one that caused the journey to become unnecessarily longer.
She was on a bike. Was she here for me
As soon as I drove out, she started her motorcycle and followed me.
What? What is her deal? I can't deal with this noe
I stepped on the acceleration and my baby responded with a purr. I looked behind me and sure enough, she was driving right behind me.
"I can deal with this myself." I affirmed.
With one hand on the steering, I quickly switched on my map app on the dashboard.
"The shortest and tricky way to Grandma's." I instructed my map app. This was my personal invention and it had never failed me.
"Well lady, two can play at that game." I twisted my neck to the left and to the right, and it made a popping sound. I maneuver and within minutes, we were on the highway. She was still following me. I checked the time on my wrist and noted that I still had twenty minutes to get to Grandma.
"Let's go, Kitty Love." I caressed the dashboard of my Maybech as I increased my speed and sped at 140/km on the highway.
"Woohoo." This was fun. I'm sure she was finding it hard to meet up, but she was persistent as she kept showing her self behind me.
I began changing lanes, all the while, keeping my focus on the road.
After about five minutes, I drove off the highway and began driving in and out of streets as my map gave instruction.
When I came out of the streets and back to the high street, I stopped and parked. I need to know how desperate she was to follow me.
I waited for about a minute and smiled in triumph, "I bet you to beat that record." I laughed as I drove off and headed to my Grandma's house. I had just eight minutes to get to her, but I'll make it in five.
As the fun of the chase wore off, I began to ponder as to who the she was.
I've been careful to keep myself from being attached to anyone.
How did she get my address? How did she know to be there that night? Because, judging from her dressing, she was not an invitee to the banquet.
Have I gotten myself a stalker? And if so, who is she.
