It took a while, but after three whole hours, Nicole finally succumbed to sleep. I slowly lifted her off my lap and then slowly tiptoed as much as I could with a sprained foot anyway.
I shut the door quietly behind me and when I turned around, I came face to face with Ethan. I was startled, since I hadn't expected him at home this early. "Ethan, you scared me. "
"I'm sorry, but I didn't mean to. But why are you on your feet? " He asked, and before I could answer him, he had already lifted me into his arms, bridal style. "Where is Estella? Isn't she supposed to assist you when you want something? "
"There's no need to be so worried. Nicole's finally asleep and I just had to get away as quietly as I could. And Estella is not here because I'm the one that sent her away. Besides, I still followed the doctor's orders, so there's no need for you to fret so much. "
