Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Preparations

Vincent let out a tired sigh as he glanced at the time. He had been engrossed in exploring the System and his new powers for hours, barely noticing the time slipping away.

Deciding it was best to rest and gather his strength for what lay ahead, he headed to bed.

As he laid down, his mind buzzed with thoughts of the shadows, the System, and the endless possibilities that awaited him. But sleep a deep, dreamless rest.

---

The next morning, Vincent awoke feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. He made his way to the dining room, where the morning light streamed in through large windows, casting a warm glow over the elegant space. The table was already set, a feast of rich foods laid out in front of him.

Golden-brown loaves of fresh bread, still warm from the oven, sat beside a platter of assorted cheeses. A bowl of ripe, juicy fruits—grapes, figs, and pomegranates—added a burst of color. There were eggs cooked to perfection, their yolks bright and rich, along with crispy bacon and sausages, seasoned with herbs. A delicate arrangement of smoked salmon with lemon slices and capers completed the spread, while a silver pot of hot tea steamed nearby, its aroma filling the room.

Vincent took his seat at the head of the table, surrounded by maids who moved gracefully, tending to his needs. Alfred was also standing beside him.

As he began to eat, he turned to Alfred. "Alfred," he began, his voice steady but filled with purpose, "I want to start training."

Alfred, always composed, gave a slight nod of acknowledgment. "Of course, young master. May I inquire as to what kind of training you have in mind?"

Vincent paused for a moment, considering his options. He knew that to harness the full potential of his new abilities, he would need to train both his body and his mind. "I want to begin with physical conditioning," he said, "but I also need to improve my combat skills. Swordsmanship, in particular."

Of course, Vincent could get the training manual from the system. But how would he explain how he had suddenly became a master in swordmanship if he hadn't trained in it.

Alfred's eyes gleamed with approval, though his expression remained as calm as ever. "An excellent decision, young master. Physical conditioning will provide the foundation you need, and mastering the sword is a noble pursuit. I shall make the necessary arrangements."

Vincent took a sip of tea, savoring the rich flavor as he pondered his next steps. "I also want to ensure that I'm well-versed in strategy and tactics. If I'm going to lead, I need to be prepared for anything."

"Very wise," Alfred replied, his tone respectful. "I will arrange for lessons in strategy and tactics, as well. Your training regimen will be rigorous, but I have no doubt that you will excel, young master."

Vincent gave a final nod of thanks before leaving the dining room.

This was just the beginning he needed to be ready, to prepare for what's coming.
