As the car drove away, Brooke kept stealing glances at Sadie, until she was no longer in sight.
"You're that worried about her?" He asked, his voice honeyed and clear.
She let out a sigh. "I feel somewhat responsible to that girl, it was my family that made her suffer." she reclined into her seat, and closed her eyes to take a short nap.
But images of Cassie flooded her head, she rubbed her bad leg, the memory of Cassie pushing her down the stairs flooded her mind.
She broke a nervous sweat, as she remembered the menacing look on Cassie's face, as she looked down on Brooke's pained tear filled face.
"Brooke!"
She snapped out of her thoughts, when Thane's hand placed itself over hers. She opened her eyes and saw that he had gotten closer, bridging the gap between them.
"Are you alright? You look pale." He inched closer, his face laced with a worried expression.
She swallowed, "I-I'm fine."
