Later that night, when I woke up from sleep, Tristan was already awake. I rolled to his side, placing my head on his chest, and he pulled me closer. As my head began spinning with different thoughts, I ran my fingers over his stomach, reminding myself that he was here now.
There were so many thoughts running through my mind. It was overwhelming, and I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that Vladimir came here with his army. He had hurt Lucian.
And Tristan had challenged him to a deadly duel.
"Why did you accept the challenge?" I asked. "Why?"
"Because I wanted to end things with Vladimir," he replied.
"Do you understand what would happen if you are unable to defeat him?"
"I am not afraid of Vladimir."
"Neither is he afraid of you," I snapped. "He has black magic."
"But I beat him," he said. "And I will do it again. Only this time, he'll meet his death."
