Two years later...
I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection. I slowly adjusted the jeans I was wearing to be more comfortable. It had been two years since the incident, and Kieran had grown into a beautiful boy. He was very fond of Lucian, and the two of them had become close. We called a witch to help suppress his powers after Kieran accidentally set the kitchen on fire with magic. She gave us a bracelet that he now wears around his wrist to keep his magic in check. I don't know how long it will last, but it has helped a lot. He doesn't throw tantrums like before and has become much calmer.
With two years gone, I started working at the hospital, healing the wounded.
I toyed with the edges of my braid, flashing a smile as I stared at my mirror image.
A knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts. I turned. "Yes?"
"It's Hayley."
I took a step away from the mirror. "Come in."
