Chapter 31
Aaliyah
I turned to Tristan, feeling my vision turn sharper in the night. The full moon shone upon me, wrapping around me like a blanket.
"What is wrong with you?" he asked.
I opened my mouth to speak, but it felt like there was a lump in my throat.
Then I turned and looked around the forest, bolting again. As my feet carried me some distance, I felt a bone in my knee break.
The pain sent me to the ground, and I screamed, feeling my skin melt away to be replaced by grayish fur. Painful tears welled in my eyes, rolling down my cheeks. I dug my hands into the earth, feeling them turn into claws.
Normally, when this happens every full moon, I run away from the pack house into the woods until I shift back to my human form. I knew I wouldn't stay long in my wolf form, yet the pain was unbearable.
