I tossed to the side of bed for what felt like the hundredth time this morning. Sleeping was impossible for me; my wolf wouldn't stop picking up every damn sound. Whether it was far or nearby, I could still hear it. I heard the voices of the guards laughing and chatting.
What's worse is, no matter how hard I tried to communicate with her, she wouldn't respond. She was mute.
She only accepted me because I was pregnant and we needed to protect our child during fight mode. Nothing else. She wouldn't talk or respond to me.
I frowned. Even the wind sounded loud. My senses were heightened, and it was driving me insane.
"Just shut up," I muttered to my wolf.
Just like every other time, she didn't respond. I felt irritated and frustrated.
Swinging my legs over the side of the bed, I stood up. The floor was cold beneath my feet as I made my way to the balcony.
