Hayley exhaled. "Thank God you are here," she said. "We were so worried when you didn't come in time."
I walked towards Lucian, glancing briefly at the witch. She was a pale-skinned woman with long dark hair.
"Now that she's here, can we begin?" I asked. "What should I get her for the ritual?"
Lucian pressed his lips into a thin line, his eyes widening. "She's still here?"
"What?"
"I mean, is Ali still here?" Lucian asked. "What's that smell?"
"It's Ali. She's already decomposing. We were waiting for you to arrive."
Lucian didn't say anything.
I blinked. "What's wrong?"
"I sent you a text message," Lucian said. "I thought you received it."
"What text?" I asked, staring at Lucian like he was losing his mind. "What text?!"
The porcelain witch stepped forward. "There isn't a spell to raise someone from the dead. Even if there was, I don't have that kind of magic to help her."
