Chapter 2
Aaliyah
A man was lying on the ground with blood pooling around him. He was stripped to his waist, with bite marks all over his back. I knew who the bite marks belonged to, even though I hadn't gone closer. They belonged to rogue wolves.
A cold chill went through me as I walked forward, feeling unease at the sight of blood. The blood from his back flowed down like rivers. His pants were black, hanging low on his waist. The man had broad shoulders, his back muscular and tan in color.
I took another step forward. "Hey!" I called out.
There was no response. Why was I expecting a response when he had such a deep wound on his back? Was he even alive?
Instinct told me what I needed to do—heal him with my powers. I swallowed hard, my heart racing as I glanced up at the sky. Dear, Moon Goddess. Was this a trap?
I returned my gaze to the man, moving closer to him. I fell on my knees, pushing him to the side, and got his blood on my white gown. There was a deep bite mark on his neck that wasn't healing. His chest had deep claw marks all over it.
"Oh, gods," I murmured. I had never seen anything like this. Who could have done such to this man?
I observed him intently, my eyes widening at the Alpha tattoo on his chest. Shock held me, unable to believe that someone could hurt an Alpha like this. An Alpha wolf was always strong, able to take down five wolves at once. Unless…..
I narrowed my eyes, running my hands across the claw marks on his chest to feel the burning liquid of wolfbane. That was why he wasn't healing.
Looking around, I thought of what to do. If this was truly an Alpha, then it was a very serious case.
Bringing my hand to touch the deep claws wound on his chest, I focused on my healing powers.
I closed my eyes, trying to take his pain away. I frowned, feeling his pain tear through me. The burning pain of the wolfbane exploded through my chest. My body trembled as I felt him begin to heal under my fingertips.
I went completely still, holding my breath as I put more effort into healing him. The man stirred, causing me to open my eyes. I raised a brow, seeing him not move. I was about to continue healing him when he snapped his eyes open.
Before I could think of what to say, he wrapped his hand around my neck. Air was punched out of my lungs, disrupting me from healing him. I hit the wet ground hard, my dress soaked with his blood.
My fingers scraped against the ground as I lifted my hand, attempting to push him away, but the man was strong.
He pressed me down, sitting on top of me, with his hand around my neck. A low growl erupted from his mouth, akin to that of a very angry animal. Had I done something wrong? I was only trying to heal him. Every muscle in my body tensed as the sound that came out of him made my blood run cold. He was still in pain as I hadn't been able to heal him completely.
"Leaving so soon?" he snarled. "After doing this to me?"
My eyes widened as I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out.
"You wanted to kill me so badly," he growled. "Where are the others?"
I cried out, struggling to escape his grasp. He pressed me down like I was a toy. Panic gripped me as I thought of what to do. I wouldn't let him kill me. Managing to raise my hand, I shoved it into his stomach, where a deep claw wound was embedded. He cursed under his breath, yet he didn't release me. Was this how I was going to die?
My eyes welled with tears as I opened my mouth to speak. There wasn't enough air for me to breathe. My chest burned with the pain I had taken from him, making me weak.
"Please," I managed to say.
Seeing the tears that rolled down my cheeks, he froze as if realizing something. He released me, the pressure from my neck slowly easing. I breathed heavily, choking as my body gave out.
He looked at me intently, observing me.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
"I came to help you after hearing your voice," I said.
"So you are saying you have nothing to do with this?" he pointed at the deep wound on his chest.
"No," I shook my head.
"Damn it," he cursed under his breath.
I pulled myself up, trying to move away from him as far as possible. But he caught my arm, pulling me closer.
"I…. I thought I could help," I said.
He growled, bringing his hand to touch the wound on his neck, and his skin burned.
He grabbed my chin, observing my neck. Slowly, his hand dropped, and he collapsed to the ground.
I frowned slightly, moving closer to see his jaw clenched. He balled his hand into a fist, supporting himself on the ground.
"Just lay down," I said. "I'm going to help you."
"Why?" he asked, grabbing my wrist and pulling me closer. "Why would you want to help me?"
"It's my job to help those in need of it," I said.
"And why do you think I need your help?" he asked.
"You are wounded," I said. "If I don't help, you might not survive it."
He looked down at me, his warm breath falling on my face. Then he closed his eyes.
"Hey," I called out. "Are you alright?"
He snapped his eyes open, his face plastered with pain.
"They did this to me," he groaned.
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"Don't."
"What?"
"Don't apologize," he said. "You said it, you have no hand in this."
"Yes."
He glanced at me, observing my neck. "Did I hurt you?"
I gasped. "W…what… no, I'm fine."
He pulled me closer, tucking strands of my curly hair behind my ears. "Don't lie."
"I… I'm not."
"I was just seconds from crushing your throat, thinking you had something to do with this."
"I'm fine," I said, pulling myself away.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I wasn't in my right mind when I woke up."
"I understand."
"You know who did this?" he asked.
"No," I shook my head. "I found you unconscious when I arrived."
He took a deep breath. "I need to leave, to find those who did this and kill them. All of them."
"You are hurt."
"I will manage."
"I can help," I said, moving closer.
"You are a healer?" he asked.
"Yes."
He wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer. "You are going to heal me. I don't have time."
I placed my hand on his chest, feeling his heart beating fast. I tensed as he held my wrist, looking down at me.
"Do it."
I nodded, focusing on my powers as I began to heal him. Warmth settled in my hands, reaching his chest. He groaned, throwing his head backward, his hand still around my waist. Heat crept inside me as my gaze trailed down his Adam's apple.
Good gods, this man was breathtaking. He had perfectly carved eyebrows and thin lips that looked kissable. His nose was thin and long, sharp at the end. He had a sharp jawline that could cut through anything. His eyes were piercing blue, as if he could see through my soul.
"I find myself enjoying this despite the pain," he said. "Do you enjoy it too? The feel of my touch?"
I swallowed hard, looking at him, unable to say anything. His voice was smooth and deep, capable of distracting anyone. As I continued to take his pain, I could feel the rise and fall of his chest.
Holding my breath, I moved my hand to his lower body. I felt my body grow warm despite the cool air around. I closed my eyes, feeling how his skin was hard under my touch. My gaze fell on his thick, hard cock, drawn irresistibly to him.
"Little mouse?" he called out.
"Yes," I found myself saying.
"You seem distracted," he said.
I shook the disturbing thoughts from my head and continued what I was doing. I could feel a pain deep inside his chest, and though I tried to reach for it to heal it, I realized it wasn't physical. Had something bad happened to him?
Once I was done, I stood up, looking down at my shirt, which was soaked with his blood.
"Thank you," he said.
"Do you feel alright now?" I asked.
"Yes."
"You should still check up at the hospital for internal injuries," I said.
"Yes. Thank you again," he said again.
"It's goodbye then."
Turning around to leave, I bit my lip, thinking about the thoughts I had about him while I was healing him. Unaware of my surroundings, I nearly fell to the ground when he caught my waist. I shuddered, feeling his strong arms around me.
"Little mouse, be careful," he said.
"Why do you call me that?" I asked, pulling myself away as I adjusted my gown. When I didn't receive a response, I turned around to find him gone.
...
Arriving at the pack house, I bit my inner cheek, knowing I was in trouble. But for some odd reason, there was no one around. I frowned, looking around the living room, searching for Jack. Where did he go? I took the stairs upstairs to find a trail of blood on the ground. My eyes widened as I thought of what could have happened here while I was gone.
"Jack?" I called out. There was no response. I continued walking, following the trails of blood to see Jack's door opened. Entering inside, my eyes widened at the sight of Olivia lying on the ground.
