Chapter 20

Aaliyah

I felt a knot in my stomach as I remained still on the ground, hoping they wouldn't see me. There were about ten of them. I stayed completely still, holding my breath as they moved closer.

The largest among them stepped forward, his eyes falling on me immediately.

Shit.

I staggered backward, my hands scrambling on the ground. Breaking a branch of tree, I raised it to scare them off.

The werewolf growled, moving closer. I closed my eyes, trying to shift again, but nothing happened. Damn it.

I balled my hands into fists, watching as the rogue wolves advanced closer.

Suddenly, one of the werewolves leaped, pouncing on me. I flinched, closing my eyes as I prepared for the attack.

The sound of snarls cracked through the air, followed by a loud thud. I peeled my eyes open, my heart racing as the rogue wolf was tossed to the ground with its throat ripped out.

Two figures emerged from the shadows, tearing apart any wolf that came their way.

Tristan and Lucian.

Tristan grabbed the throat of a rogue wolf, a deep frown on his face as he tore the werewolf apart. He made it seem easy, as if he were ripping cooked meat.

Every wolf that dared lunge at him met their end within a few seconds. The remaining werewolves soon retreated, fleeing the scene in fear.

Lucian caught one, striking it with his sharp claws. The rogue fell at his feet, blood gushing from its jaw. Blood dripped from Lucian's hands as he wiped them with a shrug.

Tristan's eyes darkened when they met mine. His frown deepened as he approached me. Without a word, he took his suit off, wrapping it around my shoulders.

His touch on my bare skin sent a chill down my back. I shuddered, feeling his cold gaze on me.

"This is what I have been preventing you from," he whispered. "You are lucky it wasn't a Lycan, and that we found you in time."

Lucian strolled over, wiping the blood from his hands with a handkerchief.

"Why is she naked?" Lucian asked.

Tristan's hands clenched into fists, looking over his shoulder at Lucian, who was standing a few feet away.

"Do you always have to ask such inappropriate questions?" Tristan asked.

Lucian shrugged, leaning against a tree. "I was simply pointing out the obvious."

"Back off," Tristan warned.

"I'll be waiting in the car," Lucian said, turning around and walking away.

Tristan turned to me, his eyes sweeping over my body. My cheeks warmed when his gaze found my chest.

"What were you thinking, running into the woods?" Tristan asked.

I swallowed hard. "It was the only chance I had to escape."

"Little mouse, these wolves are nothing compared to what you'll encounter if you don't follow my rules and stay indoors," he said. "You brought this trouble on yourself."

"It's getting dark," Tristan said, staring at the sky. "We need to find our way back home."

Without warning, he lifted me from the ground. I didn't fight as he wrapped his arms around me, carrying me out of the woods.

Arriving at the car, Lucian opened the door, and Tristan narrowed his eyes. I dropped down from his arms.

"Not at all, Lucian. You're not driving."

Lucian smirked. "Why not? This is my car."

"I don't want to be anywhere near you, brother."

"I'm sorry, but I don't recall you having an option. This is my car, and I'm driving home."

Tristan's brows furrowed as he glared at Lucian. "Find another way home."

"You both can walk then," Lucian said. "I'm sure she'll love it."

Tristan clenched his fists. "Lucian—"

"If you think I'm leaving my car behind or letting you drive, you're mistaken, brother."

"Stop this madness!" I stepped forward, clutching the jacket around my shoulders.

I turned to Tristan. "He's driving us home."

Lucian smirked. "You heard her."

"Tread carefully, or I'll rip out your throat."

Lucian chuckled before getting into the car, and I sighed.

I followed Tristan inside. Before I knew it, he lifted me, setting me on his lap. I tried to move away, but his hold was firm. My pulse quickened as I felt his hands slowly move around my waist. The breath I took next was shaky.

"Is that your heart beating so fast, little mouse?" Tristan whispered. "Are you nervous?"

His fingers slid downward to my inner thighs, and I held my breath. Heat seeped through my veins, causing an ache between my thighs. I sucked in a gasp as his nails dragged over the heat of my inner thighs. I slowly closed my eyes, leaning back into him. Cool air kissed between my legs.

"Say it aloud," he murmured. His face was inches from mine, and I could feel his warm breath on my neck.

"What?" I asked, my breath ragged.

"I know you want me inside you. Say it."

I shoved his hand away, cheeks flushed, as I moved to sit next to him. Glaring at him, I saw him smile.

...

When we got home, I took a cold shower, washing the dirt off my body. A nervous feeling swept through me as I reached to place my hands on the wall. Memories of Tristan and me in the car drifted into my mind—his teasing touch on my thighs, and how my hips rode against him every time we hit a bump in the road.

Cheeks flushed, I turned around, slowly lowering myself down, my back gliding against the tiled wall. I settled on the ground, drawing my knees to my chest as the water poured over me.

The memory of his voice in my ear overwhelmed me. I was left panting.

Pressing my head against the wall, I moaned as I spread my legs, letting the water pour over me.

I took a deep breath, my eyes fluttering open as I caught a faint scent.

His scent. What was he doing here?

I quickly stood up, finished showering, and left the bathroom dressed in a black nightgown. I jumped as I saw Tristan standing there with a smirk on his face.
