"You don't want to talk?" I asked. "I can sit here for hours and watch your body shut down and desiccate."
"Fine," Amara said.
"Are you going to talk now?"
"Vlad and I…" she trailed off. "It's a long story. It goes all the way back to centuries when Tristan and Vladimir were born."
"What happened?" I asked, leaning against the chair.
"Just how we pestered you when you were pregnant, that's what happened to Tristan's mother. The woman didn't even try to fight back," Amara said. "She knew it was the tradition of Lycans to offer their children to the witches for sacrifice. She had her baby in my house."
Amara groaned when her eyes fell on the half cup of blood. "I need that blood."
"I'll give it to you when I get what I want," I said. "Continue."
