Chapter 7 : Life ?

As we left our home on the mountain, I looked at my mother, who was still crying. "Don't worry, mom," I said, trying to comfort her. "We'll be fine. We'll make a new life, just the two of us."

My mother looked at me, her eyes red from crying. "But Kane, what about our home? What about our family?"

I shrugged. "We don't need them, mom. We're better off without them."

My mother nodded, but I could tell she was still worried. She was a kind and stupid person, always thinking of others before herself. I loved her for that, but it also made me want to protect her even more.

As we walked down the mountain, the rain started to pour down. The wind was strong, and the thunder was loud. I looked up at the sky, and saw that it was still dark, with no signs of the sun coming up.

"Mom, let's find shelter," I said, pulling her towards a nearby cave.

We waited out the storm in the cave, listening to the sound of the rain and the thunder. After a while, the storm passed, and we continued on our journey.

As we walked, I saw Lyra watching us from a distance. She was our guardian, but I knew she was also a danger to us. I made a mental note to be careful around her.

After a few hours of walking, we came across a caravan. The driver, a gruff old man, looked at us and nodded. "You two need a ride? It's 12 days to the nearest city."

I nodded, and we climbed aboard. As we rode, I looked out at the scenery. The mountains were vast and beautiful, with trees and flowers everywhere. I saw a few wild demons roaming around, but they didn't seem to notice us.

As the sun started to set, the driver pointed to some wild demon beasts in the distance. "Those are dangerous," he said. "They have mana cores, and they won't hesitate to attack us."

I tensed, knowing that I couldn't fight. But the caravan's guards were prepared, and they chased the beasts away.

As the night fell, I looked up at the sky, and saw that it was full of stars. It was beautiful, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me.

I started to think about life, and how fragile it was. I thought about my own life, and how it had changed so much in just a few days. I thought about my mother, and how much I loved her.

As I sat there, I felt a sense of connection to my mother. I knew that we were in this together, and that we would face whatever challenges came our way.

I looked over at my mother, who was sleeping. I knew that she was worried, but I also knew that she trusted me. I felt a sense of responsibility towards her, and I knew that I would do anything to protect her.

As I sat there, I felt the cold breeze of the night on my face. I looked up at the stars, and felt a sense of wonder. I knew that there was so much more to life than what we could see, and I felt a sense of excitement for what the future held.

I sat there for a long time, watching the stars and thinking about life. I knew that I would face many challenges, but I also knew that I would overcome them. I was determined to make a new life for myself and my mother, and I was excited to see what the future held.

Day 2 was stormy, with harsh rain and grey weather. I looked at my mother, whose health wasn't good; she had been crying all day. I changed my gaze and looked at the surroundings. The caravan had stopped here for 2 hours already. It was a dense forest, reminiscent of the Amazon Jungle on Earth. As I pondered, I called out to the System, but it didn't respond. It had been like that since I lost my Life Crystal.

"Hmph, someone called me Kane... Who was it?" I looked up to see Lyra, my Guardian. "Guardian Lyra," she said, "just called me Ice Princess, as she said with a mocking gaze. She said that I have lost my Life Crystal, and I am just a weak human now; she mocked me."

"Hehehe, weak human? Me? Don't make me laugh, Lyra! I'll show you my true power!" I said, my eyes narrowing.

Lyra raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? What power could you possibly have without your Life Crystal?"

"Ahahahah, you'll see! I'll become stronger than ever, and I'll make you bow down to me!" I said, my voice filled with maniacal laughter.

As Lyra left, I couldn't help but think about the Demon Ice Pill. I could use it after regaining my powers, to become strong again.

Flashback...after the match with Lyra in the tournament

"Blood Lust Detected!! Host be careful." The System's message flashed in my mind

As I pondered, I thought, "Did I oppose someone I shouldn't?" And my face showed some confusion.

"Kane, are you ok?" Lyra Asked

"Hmph, Lyra is that blood lust from her...

Hehehe, why is Ice Princess here?" I said, my voice filled with curiosity.

I thought you were extremely injured..Lyra Said.....

After she left..I checked the system interface again

"the System has recognized a Rare Demon.it was Lyra if I can get her blood then I can refine the ice demon pill, and my affinity towards ice will increase, and my mental strength will increase too.

Refinement Cost: 1 Gold.

"Hmph..Ice Demon Pill? I can use ice and frost skills!" I exclaimed.

"Lyra is a walking golden chest, Hehehe!" I laughed with my eyes filled with crazy thoughts.

In the dead of night, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. Why was I trapped in this Damn..Demon King novel? What happened to my original world? The thought of being a mere pawn in a story filled me with fear and rage.

"Why did I come to this world? Why should I die? I'm just doing all these disgusting things..." I thought, my mind consumed by darkness.

And then, I remembered the inevitable: after the demon comes, the Hero will also come. The Hero who would try to kill me, to destroy everything I've worked for. The thought sent shivers down my spine.

"What's the point of it all? Why must I fight against the Hero? Can't I just live in peace?" I thought, my mind racing with questions.

A poem echoed in my mind, a reflection of my despair:

"In a world of demons, I'm lost and alone

A stranger in a strange land, forever to roam

No escape from this fate, no respite from the pain

Just a never-ending cycle of blood and shame"

I clenched my fists, determination burning within me. My final goal was clear: survive and see the pinnacle of this world. I would not go down without a fight. I would live peacefully, no matter the cost.

"I will not be a pawn in this story," I vowed. "I will forge my own path, no matter how dark it may be. And when the Hero comes, I'll be ready. I'll rise to the pinnacle of power, where even the Gods will be threatened by my existence."

A maniacal laughter echoed in my mind, "Ha! The Gods themselves will tremble before me! I, Kane, will be the one to shake the very foundations of this world!"

And so, I steeled myself for the journey ahead, ready to face whatever challenges lay in store. For I was Kane, a survivor in a world of demons, and I would not rest until I reached the pinnacle of power.
