Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – Catastrophe (Part 1)

The swordsman in green is named Dante, while the gray-robed man is Brent. The Dark Dragon beneath Brent unleashed a massive plume of black fire, encircling Dante and swirling like smoke. Suddenly, Dante's eyes gleamed with a fierce green light, and a protective green aura enveloped him, completely shielding him from the flames. At the same time, the sound of a sword ringing out filled the air, louder and purer than the dragon's roar. Dante swung his longsword, and a colossal, indistinct sword tip, spanning several meters, emerged and slashed toward Brent. Brent regarded the sword of light with a cold gaze and continued his incantations without moving.

"What is that sword tip?" Renji wondered while running to the warehouse, his head turned to watch. "How is the gray-robed man going to block it? With the Dark Dragon?"

"Crash!" The Dark Dragon made no attempt to block, letting the giant sword tip strike Brent directly. Brent's gray robes exploded, revealing a dazzling suit of battle armor underneath. The armor shone so brightly it was almost blinding, as if crafted from diamonds. The impact of the sword tip had no effect on Brent.

"How is that possible?" Renji was in shock. He stumbled on a stone and fell, but continued watching the battle from the ground. "What kind of armor is that? Its defense must be incredible!"

"Renji, hurry up! Stop dawdling!" Kazuki's furious shout snapped Renji out of his trance. "Yes, father!" Renji quickly got up and resumed running toward the warehouse.

Suddenly, a terrifying noise filled the sky, followed by a deafening screech that shook Dragonspire Village. Renji glanced back in shock. The eastern sky was now filled with enormous flying boulders, each the size of a house.

"Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!" The boulders, glowing with a yellowish light, hurtled through the air like meteors, each one weighing tens of millions of pounds. The sheer force of these boulders could obliterate city walls. As the sky filled with them, they rained down on Dante.

As the first boulder struck Dante, the green light surrounding him intensified, transforming him into a green sun that radiated piercing light. The boulders converged on him like a torrential downpour. The green light was barely visible through the boulder storm.

"Shatter!" A thunderous cracking sound echoed as each boulder exploded into smaller pieces from the immense battle-qi. The once massive boulders were shattered into fragments that scattered in all directions, carried far from their original heights.

"Oh no," Kazuki's face paled. Draven, still in the village, also turned white with fear. They understood that a disaster was imminent for Dragonspire Village. Rocks of all sizes, ranging from two meters to man-sized, rained down chaotically. A significant number were heading toward the village.

"Quick, get inside!" Kazuki roared in panic. Renji, still some distance from the warehouse, sprinted at full speed towards it. He could hear the continuous crashes as the stones struck Dragonspire Village, creating a scene of utter devastation.

"Whoosh!" A massive boulder, nearly two meters in diameter, flew towards the warehouse. Realizing the danger, Renji shouted at his younger brother Kenji, "Kenji, get inside now!" As he sprinted, Renji's eyes were fixed on the boulder descending toward the warehouse, knowing it could cause severe injury or death.

"Big brother!" Kenji cried as he stood by the warehouse door.

"Move, Kenji, now!" Renji screamed, his face contorted with urgency. Ignoring the falling stones, he ran directly towards the warehouse. Haruto, the housekeeper, emerged from the warehouse, his body surrounded by red battle-qi. He raced towards Renji, unaware of the boulder headed their way.

Renji tackled Kenji and shielded him with his own body just as the boulder crashed into the warehouse roof with immense force. The sturdy roof could not withstand the impact, and even the floor below was shattered.

"Renji!" Kazuki's face turned red with anguish as he saw his son and Haruto trapped under the collapsing debris. The warehouse crumbled, and rubble poured in. Kazuki could only hope that Haruto had managed to protect Renji in time, as he faced a moment of uncertainty about their fate.
