Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

It had been long he had seen her and he felt nervous as he stood at her doorstep. He wished he still had the same courage with which he had called earlier to knock the door now. He knew she said she had forgiven him but he still felt he hurt her too much and that she might still have some resentment for him.

He braced himself and knocked now. In few seconds, the door opened and he was standing face to face with his university sweetheart -Temi.

Inside the house, there was an awkward silence between them. He didn't know where or how to start, and she expected him to speak first since he booked the appointment with her.

Thank God for Temi's life, he thought as he looked her over.

Everything replayed in his head now.

He had been a wicked soul back then before he got God's call. The beautiful Temi had been his girlfriend and she had been madly in love with him .He had loved her too, to be honest, but for peer pressure. He had friends that believed that dating and dumping girls made you a Legend. He had been pressured to sleep with Temi and get it over with. And he did.

"So you said you'd like to talk to me,"Temi stated.

"Huh? Yeah… ehm... the thing is...sorry, how have you been? "Ade asked.

"I've been good. All the glory to the Lord"

The pastor cleared his throat."Temi, I know I brought tears to your eyes, I know I caused you pain, and I regret all of my actions. I beg for your forgiveness, I need you to forgive me. I'm not that person anymore. As for the kid, I promise to discharge my responsibilities as a father to him"

He was at the brink of crying again. Temi exhaled. She remembered how he had reacted when she told him she was pregnant. He had been furious with her! He kept shouting "I'm not ready!" She had pleaded hard with him. She had tried to make him reason that they were not too young to have a baby. They were in the university and could even get married and continue with their schooling but he wouldn't hear anything of it. He didn't say anything about abortion, but his intentions were conspicuous.

Everything went downhill for her then. Not too long after she delivered the child, he came to her to ask for forgiveness, to tell her he had been called by God, to tell her the importance of living in Christ, to take responsibility of the child, and he even had the audacity to tell her he was getting married despite the heartbreak he caused her! She had raved and threw things at him. She had wanted to jump on him and bite his ear off but for her siblings who held her back. "I never want to see you again!" she had declared.

Bu there he was the second time since that day, but things had changed.
