Chapter 21 - Fight of Jade Palace

The valley was eerily quiet. The villagers had been evacuated on Shifu's orders, leaving only Riser and Chun-Li standing outside the Jade Palace, their gazes fixed on the horizon. Shifu stood nearby, his expression calm yet filled with underlying concern. He approached Riser, breaking the silence.

"What made you change your mind, Riser?" Shifu asked, his tone steady but curious.

Riser, his eyes reflecting the inner storm that brewed within him, answered, "I always thought it was the Dragon Warrior's destiny to defeat Tai Lung. But I realized that it's also my duty to not get in the way of my own destiny. Who knows what's written? I want to see if it's in me to defeat Tai Lung."

Before Shifu could respond, a voice echoed from down the long stairway leading to the palace.

"Oh, really? You want to challenge me, even after receiving the gift I sent you?" The voice was cold and dripping with malice.

Riser and Chun-Li turned to see Tai Lung ascending the stairs, his imposing form cutting a fearsome figure in the fading light. His eyes locked on Riser, burning with intensity.

"I want to test your strength, Tai Lung," Riser declared, stepping forward. "I want to see where I stand against you."

Tai Lung's lips curled into a cruel smile. "Then why wait?"

Without another word, Tai Lung launched himself forward with blinding speed, sprinting toward Riser. Riser mirrored the movement, rushing toward Tai Lung with equal ferocity. Chun-Li and Shifu stood back, watching the two warriors collide, hoping for the best but fearing the worst.

The initial clash was explosive. Tai Lung's fist met Riser's palm, the impact sending shockwaves through the ground. Both fighters exchanged a rapid series of blows, their movements precise and devastating. Tai Lung's style was ruthless, combining raw power with finesse, while Riser's strikes carried the sheer strength of his Phoenix heritage. Each kick, each punch, resounded like thunder, the force of their battle shaking the very foundations of the palace.

Riser aimed a high kick at Tai Lung's head, only for Tai Lung to duck and counter with a spinning kick aimed at Riser's ribs. Riser blocked just in time, pushing Tai Lung back with a palm strike to the chest, but Tai Lung didn't falter. He immediately came back, attacking with a combination of punches that forced Riser to retreat.

But Riser wasn't done yet.

He took a deep breath, and suddenly, his aura flared. The air around him began to swirl violently as he unleashed the Whirlwind Iron Cutting Fist, manipulating the wind to create razor-sharp whirlwinds around his fists. With each strike, the air itself seemed to cut through space, slicing the stone beneath their feet.

Tai Lung paused, his eyes narrowing with recognition. "Impressive," he said, dodging Riser's attacks with fluid grace. "Your mastery of Whirlwind Iron Cutting Fist is remarkable. But let me show you what true mastery looks like."

Tai Lung mirrored Riser's technique, summoning whirlwinds of his own. But his movements were far more refined, the cutting pressure sharper and more controlled. The two warriors clashed again, their whirlwinds colliding in a chaotic storm of energy. Each blow left trails of destruction in their wake as they moved toward the fighting arena, their battle too fast and too furious for Chun-Li to follow. She watched in awe, while Shifu observed in silent astonishment.

"How did Riser master this technique to such a degree in so little time?" Shifu wondered aloud, his eyes never leaving the fight.

The two combatants continued to push each other to their limits, using the air around them as weapons. The once serene training grounds were shredded, debris flying as the razor-sharp winds cut through stone, wood, and anything in their path. Riser managed to land a solid hit on Tai Lung, his fist connecting with Tai Lung's chest, pushing him back.

Tai Lung grinned, wiping a trickle of blood from his mouth. "I have to admit, Riser, you have a great body for martial arts. And your technique is impressive."

Riser smirked. "Thanks for the compliment. But don't complain when you lose."

Without hesitation, Riser charged at Tai Lung again, determined to end the fight. But Tai Lung remained calm, his eyes flashing with a dangerous light.

"That's all you've got? Let me show you something special," Tai Lung said with a wicked grin.

Just before they met again, Tai Lung suddenly stopped and took a stance, his body perfectly balanced. Riser's fist came flying toward Tai Lung's cheek, but in a moment of precision and grace, Tai Lung deflected the blow with minimal effort, using the Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist. The movement was fluid, his body swaying like water, using Riser's momentum against him. Tai Lung's face turned slightly, absorbing the impact as he redirected the force.

Carrying the momentum of the deflection, Tai Lung's right hand came crashing forward, smashing into Riser's face with crushing power.

The force of the blow sent Riser flying backward, his vision blurring as he hit the ground hard. Pain shot through his body, and in a matter of seconds, Riser felt darkness consume him as he slipped into unconsciousness.

The last thing he heard was Tai Lung's cold voice, filled with triumph. "You fought well, but power alone will never be enough."

As Riser lay motionless on the ground, Chun-Li and Shifu could only watch in horror. Tai Lung stood victorious, his eyes gleaming with dangerous satisfaction, as the winds from the battle slowly died down.
