Chapter 7 - Rating game 1

Announcer:

The day of the Rating Game has finally arrived! Today, on one side, we have Birgir Oriax, the heir of the Oriax family, known for their celestial magic. The Oriax house is renowned for their mastery of spells powered by the sun and moon, giving them an extraordinary advantage in both offensive and defensive magic.

And on the other side, we have Riser Phoenix, the infamous scion of the Phoenix clan. The Phoenix family, as we all know, possesses the legendary traits of immortality and fire, and now, with Riser being the second in his family to awaken the mythical Rebirth ability, the stakes have never been higher.

Today's Rating Game will be played under the rules of the "One Day Long War" variant—a true test of endurance and strategy. As the name suggests, this variant is a drawn-out battle that spans an entire day. Unlike the fast-paced Lightning Fast games, this one challenges each player's stamina, patience, and tactical acumen.

The rules are straightforward: The game will last a full day, with the teams fighting across a vast and diverse battlefield. The ability to search, locate, and engage the enemy will be crucial. Each peerage must strategize not only to outmaneuver but also to outlast their opponents. The game can only end early if one of the Kings is defeated, bringing victory to the opposing side.

With both sides bringing unique abilities to the table, today's match promises to be a fierce and grueling contest. Who will emerge victorious in this battle of endurance? Will it be the celestial might of the Oriax family, or the fiery resilience of the Phoenix clan? Let the Rating Game begin!

The Rating Game had begun, and the battlefield was vast . Birgir Oriax, heir of the Oriax family, found himself on one side of the field with his peerage, while Riser Phoenix was teleported to the other. The tension in the air was palpable, and Birgir's mind raced with a mix of anger and anticipation.

That stupid Riser, Birgir thought bitterly. Does he really think that just because he reached high-class before me, he has the right to look down on me? Today, I'll show him the might of Birgir Oriax.

As Birgir fumed, one of his knights, Arrow, approached him with a suggestion. "Master, if you don't mind, I think it might be a good idea to do some reconnaissance."

Birgir nodded, trying to mask his irritation. "Yes, it already came to my mind, Arrow."

"I'll check the terrain," Arrow said before leaving to scout the area.

As soon as Arrow was out of sight, Birgir's expression twisted into a sneer. "That bitch. If only I hadn't signed that contract, I'd show her who the real boss is. Always interrupting me, always acting like she knows better." He glanced over at Hitomi, his Queen. "Right, Hitomi?"

Hitomi, always the calculating one, turned to Birgir's recently recruited pawn, who had been curious about the dynamic between Birgir and Arrow. "Senpai, what contract did Birgir-sama and Arrow-senpai sign?" the pawn asked.

Hitomi smiled, though there was a hint of something darker behind it. "Arrow is a troublesome child with a peculiar background. When she came into Master's service, she signed a contract stating that she would protect Master, but he must never force her to do something she doesn't want to do."

Meanwhile, Arrow had already ventured deep into the forest, her special eyes allowing her to see further than any normal devil. From atop a tall tree, she spotted Riser Phoenix walking calmly toward their position, his hands in his pockets, a coat casually slung over his shoulder. Riser's demeanor was unnervingly relaxed, as if he had no concerns about the battle at hand.

Arrow tensed, feeling a wave of fear as Riser's gaze suddenly shifted upward. Despite being five kilometers away, Riser seemed to sense her presence. He paused, looking up as if he knew someone was watching him, but when he didn't see anything, he continued on his way, unfazed.

How is that possible? Arrow thought, her heart racing. He's so far away, yet he almost caught me…

Terrified, Arrow quickly returned to Birgir's camp and reported what she had seen. Birgir, already on edge, became even more agitated. That damn Riser, he thought, he must be looking down on me, acting all carefree like that!

Furious, Birgir barked orders to his peerage. "I want both Rooks, both Magicians, my five Pawns, and both Knights to go and attack Riser! Don't come back until you've defeated him!"

Hitomi, ever the voice of reason, interjected. "Master, don't be hasty. He may be alone, and our peerage is more than capable of handling a high-class devil like Riser, but it would be unwise to order them not to retreat. Remember, we've seen his Rebirth ability. He might be hiding his true strength."

Birgir, driven by his need to humiliate Riser, dismissed her caution. "But think of the bigger picture humiliation! If people see Riser getting beaten down without even me and you joining the fight…"

One of Birgir's knights, concerned, spoke up. "But you're sending Arrow, Master."

Birgir's irritation flared. "Arrow may be strong, but the reason I'm sending her is because she can pinpoint Riser's location and help you defeat him faster."

Hitomi, sensing the need for caution, spoke softly. "Darling, you should still exercise caution. He may have some hidden cards up his sleeve."

Birgir hesitated, then finally conceded. "You're right, Hitomi. Fine, tell the peerage if they see anything unusual, they can retreat."

The peerage members nodded in unison. "Yes, Master."

As they prepared to move out, Birgir couldn't shake the unease growing in the pit of his stomach. Despite his bravado, there was something about Riser's calmness that unnerved him. No matter, he thought, I'll crush him and prove to everyone that I'm superior.
