City of Angels, Royal Palace Hall
Kaisha looked at the angels Zhi and Moi standing on either side of her, a satisfied expression in her eyes.
"Queen Kaisha, in what capacity will we intervene in the war on Earth this time—as allies or as saviors?" Angel Zhi asked eagerly.
She and Moi naturally hoped to go to Earth as allies, but if Queen Kaisha had other plans, Angel Zhi would still support the queen's decision.
"Hmm... Zhi, what do you think of Zhang Zheng?" Kaisha asked suddenly after a moment of thought, catching Angel Zhi off guard.
"Hmm... as for our god... he's very nice, and his cooking is delicious. If it weren't for Zhi Xin and Sister Yan, I'd want to be his guardian angel," Angel Zhi said after a moment of reflection, a smile creeping onto her face as she recalled the days spent with Zhang Zheng.
"Yes, the god's cooking is really delicious, and he's a very gentle god," Moi nodded in agreement, supporting Zhi's opinion.
However, Moi didn't mention that she had noticed something different about Zhang Zheng this time in the City of Angels. While not unpleasant, he seemed somewhat changed, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Kaisha, listening to her new generation of left and right wings, felt a twinge of pain in her back. "Could it be that Zhang Zheng has already captured these wings as well?" she thought.
Despite these thoughts, Kaisha maintained her queenly demeanor in front of the young angels.
"Zhi, Moi, I was asking about Zhang Zheng as an ally, not as a person," Kaisha said, trying to keep her tone authoritative, though she was on the verge of losing her temper.
"I sent you three young ones to deal with him, not to matchmake. Now that Yan is involved, do you two have other plans?" Of course, Kaisha kept these thoughts to herself, knowing that voicing them would mean the end of her reign as queen.
"Oh! Sorry, Your Majesty. As an ally, our god is definitely great, especially since he's also Yan and Zhi Xin's god!" Angel Zhi finally realized her mistake but remained unfazed.
On the other hand, Moi turned bright red, feeling the awkwardness of the situation.
Seeing the stark contrast in their reactions, Kaisha couldn't help but think of Yan and Zhi Xin. Outwardly, they might seem similar to Zhi and Moi, but Kaisha knew better.
Zhi Xin, though young, was diligent, thoughtful, and attentive to details others might overlook. Yan, on the other hand, was brave in battle, loved by her subordinates, and capable of independent thinking, making her decisions decisively.
These qualities were lacking in Zhi and Moi. Despite being older than Zhi Xin, Moi had been under Kaisha and Yan's command for so long that she'd forgotten how to think independently. As for Zhi, though brave, she lacked decisiveness in critical moments, though her kind heart was a saving grace.
As Kaisha reflected on this, she began to harbor resentment towards Zhang Zheng. Who would watch over Karl now? Zhi and Moi were still too immature.
"Forget it. I'll let Zhang Zheng deal with it when we get to Earth," Kaisha decided, though she was probably giving Zhang Zheng too much credit.
Zhang Zheng was the kind of person who would only act when forced to, except when it came to matters of Earth's safety. These days, the only thing that required his foresight was deciding whose room to visit at night—a decision that took him quite a while each day. After all, he had to respect the wishes of Yan and Zhi Xin, though he hadn't yet found an opportunity to make a move on Yan.
"Zhi, Moi."
"Prepare yourselves and your elite guard. We will depart for Earth tomorrow morning."
Kaisha sighed inwardly as she gazed at the two rows of young angels below her, then spoke slowly.
It wasn't that Kaisha looked down on them; they were all exceptionally talented. However, they had been sheltered by herself and He Xi for so long that they hadn't faced real danger. The angels' unrivaled status in the universe had made these young ones believe that angels were the rulers of the universe, the universal laws were secondary, and other gods ranked third.
In the past, Kaisha might not have cared about this mindset, but in this age of the resurgence of gods, such thinking could lead to the downfall of the entire angel race.
Angel Zhi and Angel Moi instinctively bowed and placed a hand over their chests in acknowledgment of Kaisha's command. But just as they did, Moi seemed to remember something and looked up at Kaisha.
"Queen, Morgana is on Earth. If only a few of us go, won't that be...?" Moi trailed off, but everyone, including Kaisha, Zhi, and the young angels behind them, understood what she meant.
"Heh, Moi."
"You're overthinking it. Morgana doesn't dare face me directly. And didn't you say Zhang Zheng is our ally? We don't need a large force on an ally's territory."
Kaisha smiled at Moi's words, dismissing them with a hint of disdain.
In the known universe, aside from Zhang Zheng, only Kaisha, the king of gods, would completely disregard Morgana, the demon queen. After all, Morgana had only ever been at the receiving end of Kaisha's wrath.
But this time, Kaisha was prepared to die—not because Morgana was terrifying, but because if she could truly die in battle, she would finally get the rest she longed for.
As for the young angels, Kaisha trusted that Zhang Zheng would protect them—not because she believed in his character but because she believed in the allure of Zhi Xin and Yan.
Kaisha thought that with Zhang Zheng's lack of self-restraint, a little sweet-talking from Yan and Zhi Xin would be enough to make him fight for the angels.
"Alright, prepare yourselves. Tomorrow morning, we head to Earth," Kaisha declared.
As soon as her words fell, the young angels below once again placed their hands over their chests and replied, "Yes, Queen Kaisha."
Giant Gorge
Upon returning to the Giant Gorge, Ge Xiaolun immediately went to General Du Kao's office.
"Chief, Zhang Zheng informed me that the Angel King, Divine Kaisha, is coming to Earth soon. He wants us to be prepared."
Ge Xiaolun felt somewhat nervous in front of Du Kao—not because he was afraid of the chief, but because Du Kao was Du Qiangwei's father.
Every time Ge Xiaolun saw Du Kao, he felt like he might get beaten up at any moment, especially since he was always thinking about Du Kao's precious daughter.
"Hmm... Divine Kaisha, is the information accurate?" Du Kao had already mentally prepared himself for Divine Kaisha's arrival. After all, Morgana, the demon queen, had already arrived on Earth.
Given Du Kao's understanding of angels and demons, he wasn't surprised by Divine Kaisha's imminent arrival. The real question was how they should respond to her. As their side was at a disadvantage, and with Zhang Zheng's ambiguous relationship with the angels, Du Kao had yet to make up his mind.
"The information should be accurate. Zhang Zheng also mentioned that Divine Kaisha might come directly to the Giant Gorge to assess our stance on Earth," Ge Xiaolun said, hoping the information was false. After all, it sounded like Zhang Zheng intended to leave the task of offending Divine Kaisha to him, and Ge Xiaolun wanted to tell Zhang Zheng, "I can't do it!"
But every time Ge Xiaolun saw Zhang Zheng's eyes, he didn't dare speak up. To him, Zhang Zheng's gaze seemed to say that if he didn't agree, Zhang Zheng would personally eliminate him before Kaisha even arrived.
"Hmm, I understand. You may leave now," Du Kao said after a moment of thought, dismissing Ge Xiaolun.
After all, no one wants to keep seeing a man who has designs on their daughter. If it weren't for Ge Xiaolun's impressive genes, Du Kao would have already given him a good beating. His precious daughter—how dare you try to claim her?
"Yes, Chief."
