Having successfully avoided becoming the first "casualty" before the queen, Angel Yan was unaware of who would take that spot. She didn't concern herself with that; now that she had resolved her inner conflicts, she felt the air was much fresher.
"Wow! Yan Jie, you're finally smiling again!" Angel Zhui, passing by, noticed the long-missed smile on Yan's face and greeted her warmly.
It was understandable for Zhui to react this way. Over the past month, Yan's mood had been so low that no little angel dared to speak to her, except for Queen Kasha. Even when tasks were assigned, the little angels avoided being alone with Yan.
"Hey, Zhui, you're back. How did the task in Freyze go?" Yan asked, her mood lifted after Kasha's guidance. She had returned to her old, familiar self.
"Well, I saw that Aini Sidi completed the unification of the southern kingdoms."
Zhui explained that, due to Zhang Zheng's presence, Zhi Xin couldn't protect and observe the future angel king, Aini Sidi. So, Zhui had taken over Zhi Xin's task as the future left-wing guard.
"Oh, Aini Sidi is the queen's official choice, right? Is she capable?" Yan asked. She didn't know much about Aini Sidi, as Zhi Xin had been secretly protecting her until now.
"I'm not sure. But before Aini Sidi becomes a true angel, your work, Yan Jie, is crucial!" Zhui said, walking alongside Yan.
Among the new generation of angels, Yan had won over many younger angels with her charm, including Zhui.
Hearing Zhui's words and thinking about her recent decision, Yan had an idea. "Zhui, I might not be able to protect Queen Kasha's throne anymore. Before Aini Sidi becomes an angel, you and Mo Yi will need to help protect it."
Yan said seriously, looking at Zhui. Zhui was momentarily stunned. "Yan Jie, what happened? Why can't you protect the throne anymore? What happened while I was in Freyze?"
Zhui was one of Yan's admirers. If Yan really couldn't continue as the left-wing guard, Zhui was willing to plead on her behalf.
Yan, touched by Zhui's concern, put a reassuring hand on Zhui's shoulder and said, "Zhui, nothing serious happened. I've found my own male deity."
"I'll soon be guarding my own male deity and won't be able to serve Queen Kasha anymore. So, you and Mo Yi will need to protect Queen Kasha in my place."
Yan gave Zhui's shoulder another pat, her face breaking into a happy smile.
Yan wasn't opposed to guarding Zhang Zheng. He was powerful and kind, and Yan felt that if not for Zhi Xin, she might have already made up her mind. However, it wasn't too late.
"Ah."
"Yan Jie, congratulations! But who is this male deity of yours? Is it the Galactic Power that Zhang Zheng mentioned?"
Zhui was genuinely happy for Yan, as the little angels believed true love was eternal happiness due to Kasha. "Don't say such things. Right now, Leng is the guardian angel of the Galactic Power."
Yan quickly clarified, not wanting to be misunderstood. She didn't want to be entangled by Leng in the future, even though Leng had already been a part of her life for seven thousand years.
"Ah! The guardian angel of the Galactic Power is Leng. So who is your male deity, Yan Jie? Have we met him? Usually, a male deity wouldn't be worthy of someone like you."
Zhui felt that returning from Freyze, both Yan and Leng had found their male deities in just a month. The speed was too fast for her to process. Zhui thought this contrast was a bit too much for her heart to handle and decided to share the news with Mo Yi later, planning to tease her a bit. Zhui's face showed a mischievous smile.
Yan was a bit startled by Zhui's reaction. What was going on with her today? One moment she was surprised, and the next she was smiling mischievously. Was this still the tough Zhui she knew?
"Zhui, you and Mo Yi have met my male deity. It's Zhang Zheng."
Though Yan found Zhui's behavior odd today, she decided to tell the truth. After all, they were like sisters, and Zhui would find out eventually. Being Zhang Zheng's guardian angel was nothing to be ashamed of.
"Ah!"
"How could it be Zhang Zheng? Does Zhi Xin know?"
"Yan Jie, when did you and the male deity get together? We had no idea."
Zhui felt this was the most surprising day of her life. Leng had become the guardian angel of the Galactic Power, but the Galactic Power was supposed to be Yan's male deity. And now Yan was Zhang Zheng's guardian angel, yet Zhang Zheng was still Zhi Xin's male deity.
"Wait, wait, Yan Jie. I need to think this through. I'm a bit confused right now."
Zhui began to circle around Yan, muttering to herself.
Yan, hearing Zhui's words, had only one thought: she wanted to smack this tomboy. How could she use the term "get together"? Though she was angry, Yan decided to endure it, as they had been close friends for over two thousand years.
"Zhui, watch your words. Zhang Zheng is a powerful male deity, and I'm a beautiful angel. How can you describe our relationship as 'getting together'?"
Yan felt that her expression must not be pleasant while speaking.
"True, Zhang Zheng is indeed powerful. But have you told Zhi Xin?"
Zhui didn't see any issue with Yan becoming Zhang Zheng's guardian angel, but it was better to inform Zhi Xin first.
"Yes, Zhi Xin knows. Something happened at Zhang Zheng's place last time, and we ended up together. Although I had no other choice, if it's Zhang Zheng, I feel I don't need any other choice."
Yan said resolutely. Since things had already happened, she was not afraid of others' opinions. As the proud Angel Yan, she didn't care about others' views; she just needed to be true to herself.
"Last time."
Zhui recalled that before Zhang Zheng left, he had asked Yan to think things over, which seemed out of context at the time. She now understood that Zhang Zheng had given Yan a choice, and Yan had made her decision.
"Well, I hope Zhi Xin can understand."
Though there was no rule that a male deity could only have one guardian angel, no male deity in the universe deserved two beautiful angels.
