For the remaining five hours, Richard used the time to try and figure out more of the Codex's abilities. He had gone through the tutorial, but as usual, that only gave rudimentary information.
A typical example of this would be the holograms. He would have never imagined that a book could produce such holograms… It was mystical, but no one would ever expect that.
Apart from that, the Codex seemed to possess some level of intelligence and was capable of doing things he had only seen in movies about Artificial Intelligence. It segmented knowledge and created practical exercises from existing knowledge—in this case, the books that had been absorbed.
At the moment, he was playing a game on the Codex. It also had the wonderful ability to change its form when required; however, it was not capable of turning into a weapon.
The game was designed as a quick way to teach him how to program, and it reminded him of the famous Mavis Beacon games for fast typists.
Now standing in front of a much bigger desk at the centre of the entire library and facing the exit, Richard asked,
"I think I have gotten the hang of using the Codex, but I still have a question."
He looked up to the now giant-sized being.
"Go ahead," the being replied.
"Before we came in here, one of the gods who welcomed us into the God Council told us that you, our patrons, would explain to us exactly what's going on, why we were selected, and all that."
He hadn't asked about it before, mostly because he had been too focused on acquiring the language, which he had done and even gained some advanced programming techniques as well.
"As I said before, you will know when the time comes. For now, it is time to leave," the being said without even looking up.
"I see. Okay, then," Richard replied, deciding to shrug it off.
If the being didn't want to reveal it, then it was probably because he couldn't do anything about it as of now. Instead of worrying about something that he probably didn't have the strength to deal with, it was best to focus on his present.
Soon, he felt a slight tug on himself as if some force was trying to drag him away. Waving goodbye to the being before him, he gave in to it, and soon he was looking at a very familiar ceiling. It was one that he had seen for weeks now; he had returned, and he was still on his bed.
"So it was just a dream," Richard said as he nearly began to laugh at himself.
Here he was with imaginations of grandeur, only for it to be a dream. It was funny, but Richard didn't laugh; he wanted it to be true.
Even if there was a chance that great danger came with it. After all, who didn't want to be special or do something special in their entire life?
<
A familiar voice spoke aloud.
"Shit!" Richard cursed.
It was real! He had truly met the gods… which also meant that he was a Librarian of the Akashic Record. Almost as if timed, Richard noticed a small ball of light floating just out of the corner of his eye.
Seeing it, a smile appeared on his face. The ball of light floated until it was directly in front of him. Soon after, it vanished, and in its place was the all-too-familiar book he had used in the library.
Without hesitation, Richard grabbed it out of the air in excitement.
"Yes!" he shouted.
"Will you shut up?" a loud voice was heard from outside the room as Richard immediately clasped his mouth and lay back on his bed.
His excitement had gotten the best of him; it was still late at night, and people were trying to sleep. Curbing his excitement a bit, he finally realized what this meant.
He didn't truly know, but if a being on the level of the Akashic Record considered such a thing a threat, then it was something he needed to worry about.
While it was true that there was nothing he could do about it, the said thing had just become a real-life threat. There was no way he wouldn't think about them.

The Codex's weird voice was heard, bringing him back to reality before his mind wandered too far.
"Yes, please," he answered. Since there was nothing he could do about it, he thought it best not to let it bother him much, even if he knew it was possible. However, he also knew that someday, he would get powerful enough to.

His status was just a simple page within the Codex. It was quite literally the first page one would see within the Codex.
"I thought it would be more magical," Richard commented. He was disappointed for some reason. He didn't know if it was the many novels he had read or just that his imagination was running wild.
As though in response to his words, a holographic screen rose from the page with way more details than he expected. The status page was exactly as its name suggested.
It showed live updates on his current status, including his emotions, stress level, nutrition intake, and even sleep quality.
"Why am I even surprised?" Richard noted as he shook his head and chuckled.
Everything on his status was not up to par, but sleep quality was high up there.
"It even has a live model of me… Shit, I'm fat," he remarked.
The holographic page was a bit too detailed, and even he was beginning to regret summoning it.
"Hey, Codex, since you can notice, can you give me a suitable training method to get better?"
<
"There is a training manual?" Richard asked, surprised. It made sense that there would be one, but he was surprised that he wasn't given one.
<
"Oh!"
He was given one; he just didn't figure out that it was one. Not bothering to even lift a finger, he willed the Codex to open to that page.
This was one thing he had discovered. It didn't matter if he said what he wanted out loud or not; the Codex would do it if it was within its capabilities.
With his command, the Codex immediately opened as the pages began flipping by themselves until they eventually got to where he wanted.
"Wow," Richard said, in clear disappointment. He didn't know why, but he expected a long list of rules and regulations that he needed to follow.
