"Eleanor Ross..." Riley muttered, the name igniting a spark of recognition deep within him. His heart raced as he turned to her, disbelief washing over him.
"You... are my sister?"
Eleanor didn't slow her pace, urgency coloring her words. "We will have to settle this when we get somewhere safe. Let's get out of here first."
Riley raced after her, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. If Eleanor was truly his sister, wasn't she supposed to have forgotten him? Had the return of the runes and the system somehow allowed her to remember? Questions crashed against each other like waves, threatening to drown him.
Why was she in a trial? She wasn't even fifteen yet. What had happened?
