During the initial days at the preparatory magic school, Largas struggled to adapt. He was haunted by nightmares of the red dragon and the trauma of his past. Despite the immense mana he possessed, controlling it proved difficult due to its instability. The encouragement from his mother and guidance from Erik helped him adjust slowly, but the challenge remained daunting.
"Ugh... It's still so hard to control your magic," Largas's instructor remarked as he examined Largas's mana.
"But, you know, with the cold aura you're emitting, it's likely that your magic is of the ice variety," the instructor added after completing the assessment.
"Is that so?" Largas responded while adjusting his shirt.
"Ice magic is quite rare. We don't have a specialist in this school, though the closest we have is someone who teaches water magic," the instructor said, jotting down notes.
"When will I be able to use it properly?" Largas asked, his voice tinged with frustration.
"Well, it might take a year or two. Or, if you want to speed things up, you could seek help from your peers," the instructor suggested, demonstrating a wind spell.
"Alright then," Largas said, bowing his head in gratitude before leaving the classroom.
As Largas walked through the school grounds, he felt a mix of emotions. He was anxious and disappointed about his inability to fully harness his powers. However, the instructor's words gave him renewed hope, suggesting he had a special talent for ice magic.
Upon reaching the central courtyard of the school, he saw a group of students chatting and enjoying their magic lessons. Largas felt out of place but tried to encourage himself with a smile.
Suddenly, he noticed a girl practicing water magic, piquing his interest. He approached her and said, "Hello, I'm Largas. I see you're practicing water magic. Could you help me?"
The girl turned to him with a smile and replied, "Yes, I'm Myla. What's up?"
Myla was a petite girl with shoulder-length, light blue hair and sapphire eyes.
"I'm having some trouble. Could you give me a hand?" Largas asked, feeling a bit shy.
"Sure! What seems to be the problem?" Myla asked, her curiosity evident.
Largas explained his difficulty, and Myla suggested he try practicing basic water magic to help control his mana.
"Even though your magic is ice, understanding water magic fundamentals might help you manage your mana better!" Myla said confidently.
Largas was relieved to find someone willing to help. He began practicing under Myla's guidance, attempting to control his mana with the basics of water magic.
"Oh no! That's not quite right," Myla said as she noticed his attempt was still chaotic.
"I'm trying my best!" Largas replied with determination, struggling to manage his mana.
"Keep going, Largas!" Myla encouraged, cheering him on.
The commotion attracted some attention from other students. A tall, muscular boy with brown hair and a long scar running from his forehead to his chin approached, laughing.
"What's this guy doing?" he chuckled, walking over.
Largas and Myla turned to see him. His face bore a long scar over his right eye, and he wore a confident grin.
"I'm Rokko. Nice to meet you! Haha!" Rokko introduced himself, laughing heartily.
"Nice to meet you. So, what should I do?" Largas asked.
"Hmm... If it were me, I'd suggest visualizing a shape and then controlling the mana to fit that image," Rokko said, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
Largas listened intently as Rokko spoke, while Myla nodded in agreement.
"Visualizing a shape helps you see the spell more clearly in your mind," Rokko explained. "Then, controlling your mana to match the image makes it easier to manage!"
Largas tried to visualize an ice crystal and directed his mana to match the image. He took a deep breath and focused, gradually forming a clearer shape, though it was still imperfect.
"Much better! Haha!" Rokko said, smiling. "But keep practicing!"
Largas felt a surge of gratitude towards Myla and Rokko for their help. Their support gave him hope that he could master his ice magic.
"Thank you both so much," Largas said sincerely. "You've both been a big help."
"It's no problem!" Myla replied with a smile. "We're always here to help each other out."
Rokko gave Largas a friendly pat on the back and said, "Don't mention it! If you have any questions, come find me anytime!"
Feeling warm and inspired, Largas was determined to keep improving. He went home with a new sense of purpose and a newfound friendship that made him feel understood and supported.
When he returned home, he was exhausted from the day's training but felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. He sank onto his bed, looking out the window at the darkening evening sky.
"Largas, you look worn out today," his mother, Claire, said, entering the room with a gentle smile.
Despite being a mother of two, Claire seemed youthful and radiant. Her long blonde hair and green eyes still held a captivating beauty. Though she carried the sadness of losing her beloved husband, she maintained an impressive strength and elegance.
"Yes, Mom. I practiced ice magic today according to the advice from my classmates," Largas said, smiling.
"I'm glad to hear that, dear. I'm happy you're making new friends and trying to adapt. I believe you'll do well," Claire said tenderly, stroking Largas's head.
Largas nodded, feeling comforted by his mother's words. He lay down and closed his eyes, dreaming of becoming a great mage. In his dream, he faced the red dragon in a fierce battle, where the surroundings were both frozen and scorched.
The next morning, Largas woke up feeling refreshed and ready for the new day. At school, he found Myla waiting for him at the training grounds.
"Good morning, Largas! Ready for more practice?" Myla asked with a smile.
"Always ready!" Largas replied with determination.
Myla led Largas to a quiet corner of the training area and began explaining more about mana control.
"Today, let's try creating more complex shapes. Try visualizing a snowflake and control your mana to form that shape," Myla suggested.
Largas focused on visualizing a snowflake and directing his mana accordingly. Though his attempt wasn't perfect, it was a noticeable improvement.
"Great job, Largas! It looks like you're starting to understand mana control," Myla said, pleased.
As Largas continued his practice, Rokko arrived with a grin.
"Looking good, Largas! It seems like you're making great progress," Rokko said, giving Largas a supportive pat on the back.
"Thanks, Rokko. And thank you, Myla, for all your help," Largas said sincerely.
Rokko smiled and said, "I'm glad to see you improving. But remember, there's still much to learn. I'll be here to help."
With renewed enthusiasm, Largas continued his training, confident that with the support of his new friends, he would eventually master his ice magic. Over time, he became more familiar with his training and gained better control over his ice magic. His dedication and effort were increasingly recognized by both his classmates and teachers.
