The vast expanse of the Second Layer stretched endlessly in every direction. The land was barren, painted in muted tones of gray and black, with a dull, ashen sky overhead. A faint, ominous mist hung low to the ground, occasionally swirling in unseen currents. Sparse, jagged outcroppings of obsidian-like rock jutted from the cracked soil, with their sharp edges glinting faintly in the dim light. The oppressive silence was broken only by the crunch of boots against the ground and the faint whistle of wind through the desolation.

For some time, their journey had been uneventful—surprisingly so.

"Not that I'm complaining, but it's odd, isn't it?" Morgan muttered, breaking the silence.

He walked slightly ahead, his sharp gaze scanning the horizon.

"Ever since the Vysarian, we haven't run into anything. No creatures, no anomalies… nothing."

Thane scoffed, adjusting the straps of his gear.
