The roar above grew louder, rumbling like an oncoming storm. Kaelen's eyes snapped upward, and the sight before him made his stomach churn, his heart pounding in his chest. For a moment, he felt as if his body wanted to freeze in place, every instinct in him screaming to run.

What he initially thought was a trick of his eyes quickly proved horrifyingly real. The creature descending from the swirling twilight was unmistakable—a nightmare he had hoped never to face again. It was the same monstrosity they had encountered during their perilous journey through the Conduit.
There's no mistaking it, its mottled gray hide, jagged black spines, and its long, sinewy limbs, it was the very same grotesque creature.
What's worse: this one was the big one, the one that had almost destroy their ship.
